Thumbnail a good enough standard to flag you down? Then let's have a look at my method for putting that finishing touch on a lovingly crafted unit. These are 28mm scale flags, but the process would work for other scales too - although it would become a bit fiddly in 6mm!

I'm hitting the flag and ensign phase of a pike and shot project in 10mm. First time for me. This was helpful! Thanks!

Glad it was of use - I've used this technique for all different scales, 6mm, 10mm, 15/18mm and 28mm.

Lovely work! A tiny piece of foil glued inside the two halves of the flag will keep the furling in place as the glue dries.

These look great! What material are flags made from to fold like that? I'm assuming it's not any normal paper?
@thelastbattalion3509

It’s just paper to me but I’m going to guess GMB are printing on good quality to maximise the benefit of the printer quality, it certainly feels robust etc.

Very nice tutorial, had some points I never considered before. Quick question kinda unrelated, I was wondering if you had the color recipe you used for the Milan guard battalion blue coats, they look magnificent!

It's been so long since I painted them I've forgotten the exact scheme. I think it was worked up from a black primer using VMC Prussian Blue, VMC Pastel Blue up to VMC Sky Blue for the extreme highlights. I think maybe I used Citadel Temple Guard Blue as well. They weren't just the straight colours on top of each other, I mixed them I think 50:50 with the next one up. Sorry, that's as much as I can remember!

Should I attach the metal flag poles to the model before priming, painting, etc? Obviously adding the flag itself at the very end
@thelastbattalion3509
@thelastbattalion3509 2 года назад
Unhelpful answer perhaps, but either - it depends on what works better for you. I have done it both ways. You might find it easier to furl the flag without attaching the pole to the miniature first for example. Then just be careful when putting it in place that you don't get superglue where you don't want it if you've spent a long time painting the miniature!

Do you mean to the specific flag & regiment? If so I can certainly include things like that if it’s helpful I just thought it was too specific at the time.
