I prefer the Shard Shield for that. Better chance of silence, reflects when it doesn't reflect the other way. 🙂

@@CoffeePotato i mean, you can do that, what makes canopus the best is that he can do it without shield so you can run with double handed weapons as well, or like im running Canopus in my current run, with a standard fist in one hand, and a mp draining fist in the other. And el colas winds reflects 100% of the damage instead of just 20% of the shield. Also i found that the best way to deal with enemy healers is to drain their MP since they don't have MP increasing skills, but do have debuff clearing skill, tabula rasa. Although the AI usually uses skills as the last thing on their turn, usually.

@@Warmaster00 True, but the shield has the improved silence odds, and also gives that little bit of extra defense to dissuade those 100% hit chance ranged attacks onto someone else. It works really well when using him as a Burster

@@CoffeePotato thats what makes Canopus such a great unit, flying with high movement and can use a lot of different builds, if he was a Fire Emblem unit he would be the best in the whole series. lol

Canopus locked in victory for me so many times by skirmishing around the outside of a fight to get TP, and then going into the backline to oneshot healers archers and casters with a Bearclaw with a good two handed axe. And this only gets stronger as you get your air augment built up later with an air element axe, using your air instill for the off turns when you can't bearclaw. He's ready to do that almost right out of the box just building up his axe skill. Even if you don't want to bother to rank up your Axe skill he's still pretty effective at that role, just by introducing controlled chaos and force the cleric to spread out their healing; like Caffeinated Potato Man mentions. I personally don't like going the silence route because clerics sometimes like to run Tabula Rasa to peel it. If it's going to take me two, maybe three turns to shut a healer up; I'd rather they just be dead. It's also really nice to run Bash on Canopus to bonk archers or spellcasters off of high ground. You don't have to worry about finishing them, because you just put them in range for your melees and skirmishers, they're just a nice TP pit stop. They really knew what they were doing giving you a free Vartan unit so early in the game, since there's so much vertical play in so many tough battles in this game.
