Recipe for Bhindi (Okra) Fry:
ngredients:
- 250g bhindi (okra), washed and dried
- 2 tablespoons oil (preferably mustard oil or any cooking oil)
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 2 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
1. Preparation
Trim the ends of the bhindi and cut them into 1-inch pieces.
2. Cooking:
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute until the raw smell disappears.
Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and the oil starts to separate from the masala.
Now, add turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes.
3. Adding Bhindi
Add the chopped bhindi to the pan. Mix well until the masala coats the bhindi evenly.
4. Cooking Bhindi
-Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low to medium heat for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cook until the bhindi is tender and cooked through.
5. Final Touch
Once the bhindi is cooked, remove the lid and cook for another 2-3 minutes to evaporate any excess moisture.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
6. Serving
Serve hot with roti or rice.
