This is cool - Ever wondered if there was hidden stuff in your Kronos? Well I found out how to show you! In this very quick video, there's a secret within the Korg Kronos (and I'm willing to be the Oasys, M50 and others work this way too!)
Give it a try for yourself!

The Program mode ever since forever for Korg Romplers, at least the Korg M1 and WaveStation, has had two oscillators per program possible.... I have a Korg TR (triton LE) and I use this to layer sampled stuff from the sampler with ROM/PCX stuff. I believe you can alter the rom banks that the primary and secondary oscillator load from, so you could create for example, an EP plus a pad, at the PROGRAM level. If you have 16 progs in a combi, you can create a "32 layer" mega combi by first creating 16 original programs of your own, select any two oscillator wavs you want...

Very cool discovery! I wonder if it's just the EXs 3 Brass sounds that have that... The release of EXs3 was the final update made for the OASYS. Months before, the M3 Expanded was released and contained a whole bunch of new Brass sounds. I could be wrong but I think initial programming was originally derived from the M3 ported to the OASYS then to the Kronos. The OASYS patches do not have pictures of the Multisamples in the OSC, that's why there is a list of names of the MS section instead.

Yeah, very interesting indeed! I'd be curious to see if the same 'feature' still rings true back as far as the triton days too. I'm willing to bet the Oasys was identical in that aspect since MANY of the sounds in the Kronos were old Oasys sounds. Do you have access to an M50 or M3 to check it out and see if this still works?

I'll let you know and check when I get my hands on one. The M50 won't have this but the M3 would probably have similarly named presets with both OSCs active.

@@AudoraAudio Definitely this is an expected feature in Triton. You can take any single program and change it to double oscillator in Triton. And you can either take whatever the default is or you can configure your own RAM, ROM or EX1 location for each oscillator, and then edit its envelopes etc.

It seems like some of the orchestra instruments on it make me shake my head just a little too. For instance, If you hit the higher notes on, lets say a bassoon, it may sound just like a clarinet, or vice versa. Some instruments sound better than others with their own sound depending on if one might play the higher notes, rather than mid or lower. Some flugel horn programs(sounds), sound more like french or horns, and vice versa. Either way. I've learned to know which works best to sound natural, regardless of the name of the program or picture associated with it. I still think, overall, that most of the programs on the Kronos sound natural for the most part. sometimes tweaking the preferences makes them better if the sound itself without editing is played.

Hi there, A swell typically means the volume starts lower and gets louder. This can happen for a few reasons including filtering as well as volume/amp EG and more. Are you able to be more specific or give an example somehow?
