A company called Mancomp did the same to my Spectrum in the 1980's. The sticker they put over the socket was very similar. My brother had removed a joystick interface without removing the power first. I think they wanted to make sure it didn't happen again.

Great way to service a Spectrum I reckon, just stop the user from using the Expansion port, sorted! 😅

If somebody is skilled at IC replacement and washes the flux off afterwards it can be very hard to tell at a glance if a board has previously been worked on or not.

maybe it had a new ula fitted as its socketed? you wouldnt notice if they had!

What is the brand of the Z80? I have never seen a red band like that before.
