Geeky is good 😁 I love that effect that I get with some mixes when even in a 2 channel setup the soundstage is so broad that sound appears to be off to the side and even a bit behind.

It’s really strange and amazing when you hear things right beside you. Or even above you. I love it 👍☕️🔊

Now you just have to make up a jig to lock your head in so you can't move it 1mm. ☺️

The only issue you may have with this method is that you set the bass with a set listening position and then moved that listening position to work on the soundstage. Theres a strong possibility that you could move into a bass null or peak or both. I like to set the listening position with the rooms dimensions and use the speaker width to work the soundstage, it has the same effect as yours but it keeps all the work you have done for the bass intact. I also use a 200hz down frequency sweep on repeat to address the bass. That way i can make small adjustments of the speakers distance from the front wall until the peaks and nulls are the most linear. Setting up distances between you and the speakers can be done by ear too which i personally believe is more accurate. If I sit in the centre line and the vocal isn’t dead centre/focused i will listen to which side of the soundstage it’s at. For example, if the vocal is off to the left, move the right speaker forward, keep going until it’s a perfect holographic centre image. I truly believe this part of the whole speaker setup is the key to making speakers vanish. Each speaker will have the exact same output as each other, this most likely will not equate to equal distances either due to variables like room layout, furniture etc.

Good points. I did not set the bass with a fixed listening position but the video does not show that. Thanks for sharing 👍🔊☕️

@russellparker4568 What makes you assume the sound engineer wanted the singer in the center of the soundstage? What if the design was to mimic the vocalists typical position on stage during live performances?

@@russellparker4568 Wasn’t aware I had made that assumption. Certainly didn’t mean to offend, just seeking clarification. Thanks

@@zizendorf Not to worry 👍🏻 I will often use a demo disk that covers different aspects and one of the tracks is a stereo check where the vocal is dead centre/left channel/right channel. After that I’ll usually use this tidal.com/album/68829629?u to check everything sounds good.

Hhm…should the focus not be on musicality and not on sound effects and maximising sound stages? Simply place the loudspeaker where it is the easiest to follow the melody, the rhythm and have the more coherent reproduction of music. Focusing on single parameters, like phase off sound effects is not helpful. Simply move the loudspeakers and listen until you found the most musically position. This might be not the optimum for reproduction of bass due to room modes, but these are better corrected by equalisation or smaller speakers.

I'm curious if you end up with an isosceles triangle. as theory dictates.
@theaudiophilebarista2424
@theaudiophilebarista2424 2 месяца назад
I can't remember any setup where that theory did not apply 😉
@zizendorf
@zizendorf 6 дней назад
@Skipper_fr3d3rik I'd love to see/read that theory. I don't know how one might derive a universal theory for the primary listening position based upon differences in room dimensions and acoustics. Hoh-hah, that notion of the equilateral triangle goes right out the window and can/should be adjusted via toe-in if the listener wants a wider listening area. Here for example: uturnaudio.com/pages/speaker-placement#:~:text=Angle%20your%20speakers%20inward%20so,you%20hit%20that%20sweet%20spot!

Good point, I should have mentioned toe in (there is always going to be something you miss when making videos 🫤) Tweeking rake may be a bit ambitious for the 2 days these speakers are in my house. Thanks for watching 👍

Hoi ivar. Geweldige video. Ik doe precies het zelfde als jou. De speakers staan bij mij ook op de millimeter nauwkeurig. Op deze manier kun je zelfs goedkope speakers laten verdwijnen. Gr André de vries.
