Primal Provider #120, Juandre, takes us to Harbour Island in Cape Town, South Africa, where he quickly catches himself some mullets for lunch. Most fisherman would use mullets only for bait, but Juandre shows us that cleaning this small fish properly can leave you with quite the substantial amount of tasty meat.
Catch Cook Adventure merchandise is now available on our online store - catchcook.com/shop/
CatchCook.com is a movement that promotes and rewards a primitive lifestyle where we take responsibility for what we put into our bodies, over unhealthy and unconscious consumerism. Most people believe that food comes from the supermarket, and this platform will aim to change that behaviour by creating and sharing hunting, fishing, spearfishing, farming and gathering videos that promote and motivate a lifestyle free of processed foods, containing growth hormones, pesticides, antibiotics, chemicals and GMOs.

Bru, great video. Caught many mullet in my youth in Florida, there one could catch the large ones (1-2kg) with casting nets by law. Now, I live in Knysna and my children are eager to try with bait and hook :)

Great job on the catch ! I once caught 12 mullet that size. Very fiddly and it amounted to 12 mouthfuls . Would love to catch big mullet,have tried a few times without success. Any tips anybody ?

Hi Harold , i usually go sit next to the locals as they fish every day and know where to cast , bait is just plain fresh white bread pinched onto a sluk hoekie or nr 12 hook on a trace with the sinker at the bottom(half ounce) and 3 hooks above spaced about 20cm apart

Very lekker video. I love fishing for mullet there with my kids. Were you just using bread? Any specific trace you were using that you don't mind sharing with us other catchers and cookers? PS: should have kept a few for a nice big cob :D

Hi Ross Allchorn , thanks for the positive feedback , We only used bread to catch them , the trace is just a simple trace with a 1/2 ounce sinker at the bottom and 2 or 3 hooks above it spaced about 20cm apart , hope this helps

@@juandregeldenhuys284 Awesome video. Thoughts about using a feeder filled with breadcrumbs?
@juandregeldenhuys284
@juandregeldenhuys284 4 года назад
@@qeawonstevens6253 i think it will definitely attract allot of mulets but you will have to mark the feeder so that you can cast next to it else the fish will all go for the feeder and not bother as much about your bait thats lying furthur away
@qeawonstevens6253
@qeawonstevens6253 4 года назад
@@juandregeldenhuys284 Ah I yes, I get what you're saying. But, I can then attach one of those smaller feeders to my rig, right?

Harbour Island was my first fishing spot, but I only get rock fish and those silver fish (on mussel) on the inside of the harbour, and sharks on the outside. When I tried bread, I didn't get any bites.
