I’m considering moving here with my family from Vancouver Canada, and I’m 14. What do you think? Is it difficult to be admitted into the public schools here? Are good grades needed? Thanks

Somerville? I am not sure offhand what the requirements would be exactly, I'm not sure if there would be any grade requirement to transfer to a public school. This is their high school registration page (also with links to other grade levels): somerville.k12.ma.us/district-departments/enrollment-office/registration-high-school . I would suggest contacting them to get the exact requirements.

If you live there, you are accepted to public schools. Very crowded city, very densely populated, diverse and close to Boston. I grew up there and still have family there. GREAT schools these days, not so much years ago. Good decision if you go there.

I was born there in 1935 and although we were poor as church mice, we had a wonderful life living in Somerville....In the 1950's the rent was 35 dollars a month......Now, It's 15 hundred to 2 thousand I hear, so It's almost impossible to dish out that kind of money for a person or family to afford it, unless you are on welfare and get everything free......In the 1940's and '50's there was no welfare and sometimes we didn't eat much of have new clothes and designer sneakers or elaborate color hairstyles......I always talk to much, ha..
