My thoughts:
I really enjoyed these paints and I think the colours are beautiful. My understanding is that these are meant to be used directly from the tube, and not to be decanted into a palette. Chinese Pigments are a cross between watercolour & gouache and I loved the semi opacity which resembles a light gouache. The set contains a beautiful array of vibrant colours, many of which are unique and different to regular watercolour palettes. The information included is in Chinese and there are no names given to the colours, or pigment information provided. There doesn’t appear to be any information regarding lightfastness. Don't ever throw them away. You may be able to use the other side, if not, they make good collage fodder. I think the way colours accidentally mix on the page is what makes watercolour so beautiful. Embrace the happy accidents.

These are really pretty! I found a tutorial recently which was fairly similar but used watercolour brush pens to make the dots. If you work quickly, some of the pens do a good job. I’m another one who can’t draw a straight line to save my life!

I did this same tutorial from her many months ago. I love your take on it. You came out with possibilities of lovely card fronts. Sure hope you didn’t toss that one. It would have been lovely mounted for a 5x7” card. Maybe with some really fine black squiggly outlines. Patti

Love the florals 😊.Think the only reason a few didn’t spread how you wanted was that needed a bit more water,and the under layer a bit damper….at least that’s how works with watercolour paint,but these may react differently 😊X

Oh I love these paints those colours you've used are gorgeous....is the yellow very opaque or is it transparent as most yellows can be? Love your flowers using this method might have to have a go at this so simple and very easy to achieve a good flower shape 😊😊🌼💖

They are gorgeous aren’t they. I would say all the colours are more opaque than regular watercolours, (although some more transparent than others)and are a cross between watercolour and gouache. They have an extremely beautiful matte finish unlike Gansai Tambi for example, which have a shine once dried. Chinese pigments are meant to be used on rice paper and are more stable. They are made with an animal based binder which means the colours can be layered (on rice paper) as opposed to gum Arabic or ox gall. The paints are made up from a mixture of natural plant dyes and mineral pigments and are extremely vibrant. I will share a review once I’ve experimented more with these, but so far I love them 💕
