Run a garden hose under your fence below the first board. Go 50 feet and drop a head at each joint. That's what I did so I don't have to move sprinklers anymore. Put 3 on a zone and add a timer. Only trenching will be at the house to the fence. Use an edging shovel and make a slot. Easy to dig and it doesn't have to be deep. If the hose ever goes bad you can pull it up. The freezing doesn't damage the hose. That's how we do it at "Ratino's Small Engine & Landscaping." 🐀🐾

I've been using these for 3-4 years now and have about 5 total across my yard. Even had my neighbor ask where I got them from and he ordered his last year and loves them. Another thing to get is the quick connect with the "air pump" attachment to push any water out of the cylinder to winterize. Trick: there's a small screw on top of the canister towards the sprayer to change the width and height of the water coming out; very handy for creating a mist and for slopes in the yard.
@davidkearin3622

Ah so with these types will they water the patch directly Infront of the sprinkler? As it looks to arc over it, or do you need another facing that patch? Thanks
@MrRaven2517
@MrRaven2517 4 года назад
David Kearin It depends on the distance of the patch from the sprinkler. I think using the trick I mention to create a mist will give the seed and soil the moisture needed for any growth.

Haven’t seen these in Australia, And great video btw but with so many in... why wouldn’t you just lay the pipe and even just zone say 2 or 3 sprinklers to a zone. I know each to there own. Time spent connecting hose to each pop up would be not much different to moving a sprinkler. In no way am I criticising you. Couldn’t care less if you used a watering can. Just you have spent the $$$ on the pop ups but still “ manual watering”

Just trench a line and install regular sprinkler heads. It is so easy to do. If you don't want to use solenoids wired to a control panel just send them to one quick connect with 4 or 5 on that line. You can have multiple heads and lines and just hook the hose to the main inlets around your yard. Wiring to a control panel via solenoids would also be easy for your yard because it is all open grass, so don't be scared to go the fully automatic route if you choose.

Am I missing something? How is this easier than just carrying a sprinkler over to the corner of the lawn when you take the hose to hook it up? It seems like it is just a waste of money on 8 sprinklers where 1 would do just as well with less effort. The only real advantage of in-ground sprinklers is the permanent hoses that connect the sprinklers and the electronic timers and valves to automate the process. This seems to be a lot of the work and expense of in-ground with none of the benefits.
@Slimzyjoe
@Slimzyjoe 5 лет назад
It literally takes 10 minutes to put one of these in. I wouldn't classify it as work. Lol. You act like this is a full on excavation project to put one of these in.. Lol.

thanks for the video...just bought these and will be installing this weekend. Is the Left Stop adjustable or is that always a fixed location where the big arrow and 360 is? I ask because was hoping to get the hose connection in a different location...I know it swivels but wanted it in a different spot...not a big deal I guess but was wondering...Also could you put alittle stone in the bottom of the hole or not recommended?...Thanks for the help.

I subbed. Good video. My lawn has an irrigation system but I'm too cheap and hate paying for water. Plus it has shade areas that don't require water. Need to set up something like the single head in your video.

You could always just cut down the time on the zones in the shade, or even just take all the time off of it. Honestly you could just just cut down the time on every zone you have and if you have a rain sensor hooked up you really shouldn't be paying too much
@aguyandhiscomputer
@aguyandhiscomputer 5 лет назад
@@aydenholmes2766 thanks, yes, I did the first year or two but then I had to pay $50 no matter what to blow out the lines before winter. Now I just mow tall and use a sprinkler in two spots that get a lot of sun.

How do you winterize these sprinkler heads?
@nmjhd1234
@nmjhd1234 5 лет назад
DIY Reid say you blow out the water to winterize the heads, it rains afterward before the weather actually drop to freezing temperatures, will the heads fill with rain water and you would have to blow water out again before the temp dip?

Orbit sells a system like this but better its a system that's has a complete sprinkler system with timer that comes with 6 to 12 pop ups depending on how many you need and Alls you do is lay them out where you need them dig about 4inches cover them back up and connect one main hose to any outside foset and your good to go works perfect covers entire yard and you don't have to worry about connecting a hose to each thy all wrk on the same one like a regular sustem and it has a timer.

Good information. You might consider gifting the old sprinklers to those that are less fortunate than yourself, or donating to Good Will. Our landfills are full enough.🤔

Thanks for this video, I truly enjoy it. How has the sprinkler been after your first year? Did you empty the water before winter, to dry it out before winter? I apologize from all the questions. I am interested your opinion of the product. I am still looking for the video about the timer. It was great in my search for a sprinkler system for my lawn transformation and easy for me to do myself. I am getting a power seeding in a about 4 to 6 weeks to develop thicker and healthier grass and need it watered 3 times a day. I work from 8 to 5. Hows the timer working out. I have a read a few bad weeks about software complications or the app messing up. I need something that’s easy I think may those people are not technically advanced. Idk what do you think?

Most homes have the ability to raise and lower water pressure.
@stevebabiak6997
@stevebabiak6997 4 года назад
I have public water that delivers over 100PSI at the entry to the house. There is a pressure reducing valve at the meter to drip the pressure into the range that building codes dictate (typically 40 PSI minimum to 80 PSI maximum). You can buy a water pressure gauge at the big box stores or online for around $10; it will attach to a garden hose faucet fitting so you can measure your actual water pressure.

Any concern when mowing? Seems like leaving the connector accessible might get it clipped. Especially in my uneven bumpy yard.

With a push mower you’re good. Heavy riding mower I would just be aware of where they are. Should be fine but if you can avoid them.

I run my heads along the fence line so they can't be hit. I use the sled version for center stuff on a separate spigot. The lower yard is the only one I sprinkle.

Is there any way to tether two together so they run at the same time? I only have one spigot in my front yard. Would prefer to be able to link two of them together if possible as opposed to using a splitter at the spigot and two hoses.

My neighbor just installed a Rain Bird 32ETI system. Just saw it in action today and it works great for the two heads he has in his backyard. Full coverage for about 3,000 SF. He has more on the side of his house (misters) and another unit for the front. Sure, there are trenches that needs to be dug for the connection hose, but you never have to go out to move your hose from one head to another so I see that one-time labor as an overall time saver for the number of times you have to move the hose from head to head. Also, I'm just not fan of having that connector sitting above ground and being seen all of the time. Rain Bird also makes a similar hose connect system, LG3HE, that is better in my opinion because the entire unit is below grass level. It's bigger than this, so the hole's a little larger, but no hose connection just sitting at ground level waiting to be hit be a lawn mower or weed eater, or becoming brittle from constant UV exposure.
@DIYReid
@DIYReid 5 лет назад
These are below grass level. I have a difficult time sometimes finding them to hook the hose up. But yes, I’d love to have an underground system but for now these work awesome.

To drill under a concrete path dig a hole each side and get a long enough piece of pvc pipe about 1.5 inches on diameter and cut it sharp in an angle. Twist the pipe through the ground under the concrete and remove soil inside it periodical. It will drill easily through most soils
@troyb9609
@troyb9609 5 лет назад
Dig a hole on both sides of the concrete use a piece of PVC pipe 3/4 or 1 in with a hose and adapter glue hosen adapter to the PVC pipe attach your garden hose and turn the water on all the way put slight pressure on the pipe it will go right through
@isierrah
@isierrah 5 лет назад
save work and money, just buy 4-pack of sprinkler heads, run a piece of hose to your water faucet, dig the heads and hide hose so they will be permanent. No timer... no problem, just do it manually.
@Balocay
@Balocay 4 года назад
Wouldn't you need to use a more durable material instead of a hose when running the hose underground? Would bugs/environment eventually destroy the regular hose?
@isierrah
@isierrah 4 года назад
There is special hose to be use under ground (black hose, funny hose etc, etc.) However, PVC pipe can be used too. You be surprised how long Regular hose will last.
