Thank you! A very useful video. Could you please certain is a Sampler some medium between Designer and Painter? Couldn't you do the same case study as in video in Painter or Designer only?
It's a happy medium between the two. Designer tends to everything procedurally and painter doesn't give you certain filters or sliders to make a smart material from scratch. :)
I am coming from 3ds max so very new to this, After you have a material what do you do with it? Can you export it to use in other programs? I ask cause this program does not appear to be a modeler nor renderer. So it seems it is just to create and maybe apply materials to some object.
That is a great question. Yes the idea is not to model or render but rather CREATE materials procedurally.l so it can be exported into the painter (as smart material) or as maps for your preferred 3d app. Hope it makes sense 🙂
Do you think a better alternative for this is quixel mixer it is simple like this and it has alot I mean alot more material imperfections and smart materials and it can be use as a painter like substance painter?
I remember there was an inspire tab in alchemist to create material variations with an colours from an image. Is that not a thing anymore? Did they take it away?
Good Tutorial, BUT. This is not a Quick start, this is an "introduction to substance sampler". A Quick Start is when you Quickly start creating stuff and explain settings as you go along.
Thank you for your feedback, Björn . Note that moving to a case study after only 20 minutes of introduction to the software is “quick enough”. Starting with an application without knowing the ground rules is not my style of teaching and I do not recommend it to any beginners. :)
I've created a seamless material with zbrush but I'm missing a height map. How would I go about to generate a height map using an existing color and normal texture with S3d Sampler?
In 2019 Adobe released Substance 3D Sampler, their version of its material-authoring software, previously known as Substance Alchemist. So, one came as a successor to another one with some changes in functionality
I would have loved to watch the tutorial but sadly the background music was just too loud and annoying. IMO there is really no need for constant music playing… well, it's a RU-vid thing I suppose.
thanks for the tutorial , but in this playlist there is a putin in war video at number 8 , that is obviously added by mistake, hope you see and remove it
Hi there Thank you. Just checked and there is no video with that name. Might be a suggestion from youtube on your end. :) Here is the link to the playlist: ru-vid.com/group/PLbvsJz5ZcmxH9jRqQdkfyTh7giw-ZAeC8
