Thank you so much for this video. You helped me learn several important things I was struggling with and helped me solve a problem I was having. Thank you!
Thank you for your tutorial. I'm trying host my website built using ASP.NET and SQL Server on Windows 8 machine. I'm trying to follow your tutorial but at 3:51, you said you already mapped the domain to your local machine. Could you please explain or make a video on how to map a domain to your local machine ? Do you need to buy a domain name from website like godaddy or hostgator? Thanks
FlashCombo Hi, I said "I already mapped the domain to my machine" what I meant was I openedc:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hostsin a text editor and put an entry to wackywebworld.com for 127.0.0.1 so the browser looks locally without real DNS.Regards,Michael
+FlashCombo I was able to use this method and use port forwarding to access my c# web app from the outside world. What I did was bind the site to a port (eg. 5757) then port forward to that port in my router. I also made sure that there was a rule in the Windows Firewall settings that allowed connections via that port. Once it was all set up, I simply entered :5757/site.aspx to access my web app.
I had to add ISS_USERS to security and add local ip to the hosts file to get it working. To access from another machine just add a binding to the site. Use the machine's ip address and leave host blank. Typing in the machine's ip sends me to the my site. Have not tested with multiple sites as I have not needed to yet.
Roberto V Really????? I'm a beginner so I don't know??? Can it be accessed from any computer? Can it be accessed when the computer on which the server is running is shut downed?? Please please tell me.
Good tutorial. Do you have any tutorial to publish Asp.net core 3? I'm trying publishing .net core on Asphostportal shared hosting environment, it always shows 502 - Process Failure. Any insight? They can deploy .net core without any issue and have shown the demo to me. But, my application can't work. Thank you

Hi, Mr. Michael I tried to setup IIS on Server2008 r2 and I did all steps following this video but when I published webpage I can't find -release in configuration combobox (only debug presents). Even in Visual Studio configuration manager I couldn't find release for Active solution configuration. I use Visual Studio 2013 professional. How I can resolve this problem?
@@WorkOutMusic-vo7xp That is what I am wondering, if you bought a domain you would need to go to the webpage you bought the domain at and point it to your nameservers, but where do you find the nameservers and how do you "run" the website so it is accesible by other people?
3:45 What if I already used this domain on another webhosting service, it does not show the same error but instead my old website. Is that supposed to be normal? How am I to apply a domain I already have and make it work within IIS for this step onward? "I have already mapped that domain to this local machine", what do you mean by this? Would you be able to show us how to do this?
Hi, I've some wierd ass problem. Can you help? This is not working for me because I've some other program running that hosts already a website on my PC. The only problem is that I don't know which program that is! And the file that is being executed (e.g. index.html) is removed as well so all I see when I enter my ip address is BLANK. Can you think of a way to detect which program is hosting a website on my server? It's really odd that I don't know which program it is. I have a lot of computer knowledge, but this is just random as hell. Please help me. Kind regards, arisoda
Narek Tadevosyan the code is getting the photo from your PC, however the other user you are viewing the webpage doesn't have the photo. You should be able to figure it out from there.
i see this error plz help me HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
I do already have a site host with my own portfolio, I just need to make a few .net pages (looking as great as they can be of course) so when employers see it, they'll hire me. I've already worked for 3 IT companies and NONE OF THEM PAID ME. So I thought "Fine, I'll just make practice .net sites so new people who actually know what paying someone means can have the sites they deserve". Apparently, this tutorial doesn't work for some people. Haven't tried it myself (yet) but I do need to, ya know, make more practice sites with asp.net first.
Hi Michael, I've just followed your guide but have a couple of questions/issues. 1) My VS 2015 doesn't have a release mode when creating the profile, it only lets me publish as debug. Also when I go to my domain it says "You do not have permission to view this directory or page" - any ideas? thx
but it show me this after i execute my web site in browser 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.
Hi all I have encountered the problem where I was looking up a real website called "wackywideworld.com" because my computer is not handling it locally. Please take a look at this video on how to search up your intended local website instead of searching the DNS. Search "How to Modify the Hosts File in Windows 10" by Westy's How To Guides. With relavance to this video, what you wann write at the last line of hosts file is "127.0.0.1 wackywideworld.com" 127.0.0.1 being the localhost (yours maybe different) and wackywideworld being the iis application name
It didn't work on me!! Something was wrong! The website just does not show! I have to write file:///C:/www/wackywebrodolfocalvo.com/ to see the web! What I did wrong?
