Oh my goodness!! Great VIDEO ! As I’ve made 2 in the past but , this is a fabulous ! The first book was beautiful I love magnets in anything ! I even make magnetic paper clips now !! And that’s what I’d like to do is more of an Art Journal !! Your ideas book is fab idea as well !! Yes that is what I didn’t like very much so my second one I tore pages w a ruler 📏 and glued small 1/2 inch pieces to the next page - my both books were glued in signatures. But what a gorgeous altered book! I have a load of books I’ve been collecting the old ones ! I did a haul video . And I’m really needing to start using them ! When you got to the cream book and it was in French I was about to fall off my chair ! What a fab book ! That last book was a real gem !! 💎 the pages came out without leaving a load of paper in the torn out pages !!! But the one with the stitched in pages and how you managed to get to the strings without breaking the spine was brilliant ! Gez , I can HARDLY WAIT TO do my next altered book ! Best video I’ve ever watched! Thank you 10000x over for taking the time to explain everything so well ! Bravo ! And thank you again 💜

I take a different approach. I choose the same type of book as the orange one but I DON’T CUT THE THREADS. Instead I tear the pages out leaving the glued in one and perhaps two more per signature. I’m careful not to tear the threads, the pages come out singly but you do remove it’s other half. The actual number depends on how many signatures and pages per signature. I treat each signature in exactly the same way. Then I can stick the front of one signature to the back of the previous one. The pages left in the signature can also be stuck together. They can be stuck together as fold down pockets etc.

I tried that the first time I made one and the pages were all lose. I think it was the book I used but since the. I have seen these other ideas and I tried them and they worked better for me. Like everything you find your way and stick with it. As the great man himself says, you do you. I hope you are well Lucy 💜

Can I ask what you do with the loose threads in the books that you've gutted. Do you just leave them or do you snip them to tidy them up?

I just leave them. I tried snipping them but that was too much like hard work and it was too easy to damage the page left behind. It’s a junk journal so threads are ok I think.
