hey that's pretty good dude! so the octave and transpose parameters are just midi offsets whereas the tune (and fc offset for that matter) are changing playback speed. it's not that necessary to midi shift back to the og octave when detuning by 1200cents imo since the board is still in key... but the -700cents +7semitones trick was very insightful. Great job pointing out that the trick doesn't make a difference when a single sample is mapped to the full range of the bed too. Note that you're not actually changing the formant structure of the sound so much as just playing back a different, repitched sample but in the context of the example in the vid it is a formant shift. If you wanted to change the formants of a vocal you could use the talk modulator as I'm sure you already knew. To shift the formant up or down in ANY sound you could use the fc shifter ifx so long as you then use the fc offset parameter to compensate for the detuning . Side note, the point of the frequency shifter seems to be lost if it's detuning the sound... but to me that effect is best used on atonal material like snares etc.

Dave. Thanks for your help! My question today is a file management question. Being new to sampling, I have accumulated duplicate index sample files. How do I get rid of duplicate unused files? With my Fantom X7, I simply erase samples that are not being used post normalizing or chopping. Please tell me that there is a function as to were I will be able to erase unused sampling data!
