Quick tip for the easy way to repair broken Toyota and Lexus harness plugs. It only took a few minutes to replace the connector shells on these ignition coil plugs. A way better solution than glue or zip ties. Working on editing the full spark plug replacement video. I show the actual replacement of the connectors in that video.

It would’ve been nice if you demonstrated how to reinstall the wires you de pinned. How the tool works.

No tool needed to reinstall them. They just click back in. There's only so much you can do in a one minute short.

Most connectors have locks in them, in this case its that white piece. You gotta get that out, some of them like male duestch connectors they are far in so youll need a hook pick. Then once thats out there are tiny tabs that you have to pry up with a straight pick or tiny screwdriver, then slide the terminal out. Then plug them into the new connector (sometimes you have to try a few times to get the orientation right) and reinstall your lock, then plug everything back up

I just performed this on a Toyota 3.5 liter and next week on a 4.7 liter. I devised my own tools out of small pocket screw drivers and a grinder. They work perfectly and YES, it’s a great replacement part from Honda and Toyota

Great short vid! Our 2008 Highlander had this issue. Friggin Toyota! Dang, I wish I had seen this 3 weeks ago when I changed the spark plugs for the second time! I ended up hacking it - again - by using a thin project saw blade to create a small groove on either side of the broken tab to hold thin gage wire in a loop run under the coil bolt-down flange. It works but it's a dicey hack.

Silicone works a treat..just a squidge where the tab was and it sets and holds in place..been using silicone everytime i remove the connecters. They don't cont loose, ever.

Most people don't know that you can replace just the shell. So glad you took the time away from eating Cheetos in your mom's basement to comment.

You'll have to check each portion of the circuit. Id start with the grounds. Sounds like one isnt making good contact.

@@OTRAMM thanks for the info I'll have to check that out, I'm not sure how familiar you are with subarus, but they're notoriously crowded, and the harness kind of just disappears into the motor somewhere, where would I find the grounds for that

@@jacquestube you'd have to find a wiring diagram to see where they are.
