This is a great video! I found this looking for options on how to fix a few sagging points in my newly laid headliner. I did mine by myself and didn't get a chance to lay the indented areas good so it created tension, thus not sticking well. I had put starlights in my headliner so completely redoing everything was out of the question. This video gave me the needle trick option. I went to a Tractor supply and bought syringes and needles. (Any place that sells farm animal stuff should have needles). I popped off the plunger of the syringe and just filled it with gorilla glue. Then I put the plunger back in and attached the needle. Worked like a charm. All the areas I applied glue with the needle are still holding up on my headliner. I did black suede in a 2000 dodge ram 1500. The gorilla glue did harden the headliner material where I applied it but it's not overly noticeable. Im okay with it in a few spots since the alternative for me was to redo 1,040 fiber optics and relay the entire headliner. This video is golden! 🔥 Note: test w/e glue you plan on using against a piece of scrap headliner material. It may cause discoloration or hard spots. Also becarful when pulling the needle out so you don't get glue on the headliner.

Yup I was wondering if this would work and now I can see it does. Didn’t realise you could draw the glue right of the tube with the syringe. So a real help. Fortunately here in Australia you can freely buy syringes because it is part of a program to reduce needle sharing among druggies. 4 for $10. Works for me!

SOMETIMES YOU CAN TAKE A HEAT GUN REHEAT THE AREA AND HOLD FOR A FEW AND IT WILL STICK BACK.

never do this!!. you will most likely make a nasty hole on the headliner. it is very difficult to control the heat level with the heat gun...

Just a reminder to people that want to recreate this: Use glue with high temperature resistance, normal superglue cant withstand the hot sun.

What is the best glue to use super glue or adhesive glue or it doesn't matter. For lighter liner do the super glue show through the material after drying. Thank you

Animal feed stores (like in the country for large animals) sometimes sell needles, and they don't have the same restrictions for selling them that a drug store would. Its where I get needles for glue and other DIY tasks. As long as you buy 1 or 2 every once in a while they don't even ask what its for.

Looks interesting, but if you’re only using a hypodermic needle, that means you must get very little superglue between the cloth and the headliner, right? That would mean that when you spread the glue out with a roller, there’s not too much glue to spread, right? So wouldn’t that make tiny patches sticking to the headliner per injected area - and around them, sagging material - instead of having a flat surface again? Or do you need to do that many times until you have nearly every inch of the headliner needled up with glue? And, by the way, are you meant to start injecting/gluing from the center of the sagging roof, or from the sides?

@silverlake973
@silverlake973 9 месяцев назад
Either way your headliner is destroyed because if you want it to go back to looking normal you'd have to get completely re-done, which means stripping the old fabric and putting fresh fabric on. This is just for damage control - if the liner is sagging and you don't want it to get worse etc.

Definitely helped!! I customized my liner and I guess some parts didn’t have enough glue!! I used a satin pink fabric though!! Do you think the glue will bleed through??!!
@EncompassAdventure
@EncompassAdventure Год назад
Hey there! 👋🏼 With satin material, I think it may show hard spots/bleed through a little, depening on how thick the material is. I would definitely test it on a less noticeable spot first and try to use as little glue as possible. Or, if you have any left over material, maybe experiment with testing different glues & amounts of glue. Hope this helps and happy building! 🔨🔧

Audis are notorious for headliners coming adrift. Usualy the engines go before the headliner comes apart though. Not made like they used to be and are really a "throw away" item mechanically. Absolute rubbish. Not built to last. But then again anything made by the VW Auto group these day is, costing a fortune to maintain.
@debbieh9009
@debbieh9009 9 месяцев назад
@125sloth So far my 2014 A5 with 86k miles is going strong. If they are indeed rubbish, Im glad I dodged that bullet as Im loving mine.❤ It's been to the dealer here and there but never due to something super major. I know what caused my liner to droop. For a few days my car was parked outside in California when we were having a CRAZY heat wave! It was dry and it was HOT! It cooked out there and that is what caused about 4 areas on my lining to droop. I have my syringe and glue but STILL haven't done it it! Lol. It's not drooping that bad but I still want to get the lining back up. I'm more afraid of staining by beautiful chaulk color lining then fixing the droop! Hahaha! Has anyone tried doing this on their car and if so, how did it go for you? Any precautions or tips? Thanks! 😃
