QUIET RIOT continues their historic journey with drummer Frankie Banali, who is joined by bassist Chuck Wright and guitarist Alex Grossi. With their last release “Road Rage”, Quiet Riot introduced fans to powerhouse vocalist James Durbin. With “Hollywood Cowboys”, James has done a phenomenal job with his vocals on this release.
When asked how “Hollywood Cowboys” differs from other QUIET RIOT releases, Banali says "This is the most diverse QUIET RIOT release. The songs run the gamut from straight ahead balls to the wall rock tracks, to a blues song, to double bass drum pedal to the metal songs and QUIET RIOT straight ahead rock tracks. There is a whole lotta grooves going on!"
Musically, the new album offers exactly what you would expect from QUIET RIOT. Arena ready hard rock with strong hooks and infectious riffs, along with a maturity in the songwriting that only a band with such a history and pedigree can offer.
On lead track, "Don't Call It Love", drummer Frankie Banali says, "The song essentially started with a straight ahead drum groove that incorporates tempo lifts within the arrangement. It made it possible for Neil my songwriting partner and I to write and build a very concise track as a vehicle for what would follow lyrically. My dear friend and amazing songwriter Jacob Bunton wrote the lyrics for this track and several others as well as providing background vocals and just did a fantastic job."

@@JIF882 Quiet Riot evolved to Slaughter.. or 21 Guns... or Trixter... The New Singer is - technically - great, but does NOT fit to QR IMO. And they "evolved" the typical QR Vibe/Groove away too.

Agree so much. Will always love this band but Durbin does not fit the QR sound at all. I hate to dismiss a guy who can certainly sing, but this track and the previous album do little for me.

Thank you Frontiers Music for trying to keep rock music alive. This track sounded strange to me at first but I started to like it after playing it a few times. My biggest issue with the song is the weak guitar solo. Come on Alex, this is Quiet Riot, where is the WOW factor? This solo is like beginner guitar. Aside from that, I would still like to hear the rest of the tracks on this album.

Wow that was a 4:07 rollercoaster of emotion for me. I was in at the very beginning, out on the vocals back in on the hook and riff and so on. How ironic is it that the band I disliked the most in my teens II was in The Motley Crue camp, 30+ years later puts out a song that will fit well on Too Fast for Love. I dig it! Can't wait to hear more.

This is a fucking disaster. Obviously, they have no noney for backing or production. In this day an age, with all the technology, this is what you put out as finished product. Total fail, drums and cymbals sound horrible. And the singer is a hack. Quiet Riot of the 80's is gone. R.I.P.

I don't know why people dislike the vocals, it actually sounds like how I imagine Kevin would sound if he were still alive. Obviously aged and chilled out somewhat but still hitting the high notes

If you read the liner notes description, the song was written with the drum as the lead instrument, which is an interesting concept to frame, if you will, the lyrics and the guitar solo is there because it is a prerequisite for for a rock song. Think about this structure, then listen to the song again and you might think its rather innovative.

Great demo! Sounds like the same guy who mixed Mr. Big's last record did this one. Drums do not belong higher than the guitars in any mix. Guitar is nonexistent until the solo and sound a lot like Mick Mars influenced them throughout. Durbin's vocal track is this songs only saving grace. Somewhere between 80's Vince Neil and Mark Slaughter.

Bring back Carlos Cavazo & Rudy Sarzo or look for that Quiet Riot sound we all miss (with some producer), belive me that's the right thing to do. There's some kinda 80s comeback out there and this band has all the elements to rock like they did before. IMO.

The sound quality is off somehow. I'm not an audiophile or pro so I don't know why, but the quality sounds off somehow. The old Quiet Riot stuff from my childhood is godly so I'm always looking for anything new if possible.

Song sounds pretty good. The production/mixing is struggling but not enough to make me hate it. The cover looks a little campy, but I think that is the point. From everything I read, Frankie , Neil Citron, and Jacob Bunton wrote this track and several others. I wonder why he won't utilize the writing talent he has in the band. Alex, James, and Chuck are very talented. I guess Frankie wants people to know he's in charge of everything lol. Either way I am looking forward to hearing the rest. I’m glad they are still going. Keep rocking Quiet Riot.

Wow....nice surprise. Good song good vibe. The bass is killing. Drums sound crisp and powerful. Singer is on point. And classic Hollywood guitar.

I try to never be too critical of anyone's hard work, but I think the production quality on this one is very poor. The song may be good, but if the mix is poor, it will be hard to find any pleasure in listening to it.

Love that the band is still out there getting it and has a really cool garage band feel to it, but aside from the bad production everyone has pointed out, the vocal is just bad. Pretty sure James Durbin can sing, so maybe it's the mix. Can't believe no-one has mentioned it yet.

You need to learn your Quiet Riot history. It's because of Kevin that Carlos and Rudy aren't the band. Kevin didn't like them. So, is Frankie supposed to go against Kevin's wishes just because he's dead?

@@JIF882 I'm not saying the contrary thing, am I? First of all, Quiet Riot was Kevin, no matter if you like that or not, No Kevin = No Quiet Riot. Anyway, the sound of the band never felt the same without Carlos and Rudy, not even with Chuck, Kenny, etc. Kevin was always the central figure of this band. With Shortino they have a beautiful album, but it wasn't Quiet Riot either, not even with the personal sound of Cavazo's guitar. Kevin was the only original member and before Frankie was the drummer they had Drew Forsyth, and I saw them in Mexico, back in '92 with Bobby Rondinelli on drums and believe me, he was 100% better. I knew Frankie a few of years ago and his attitude was so rude and disrespectful with me and other guys, I don't know if he wasn't in the proper mood that day but you can't treat fans that way, not if you're carrying the huge name of an important band that isn't even yours. By the way, you need to learn your Quiet Riot history aswell, because Rudy recorded a pair of songs in "Quiet Riot 10", with Kevin already deceased. So yes, I stand with my affirmation, the sound of the band wasn't the same without Carlos (not even with the great Randy), Rudy (not even with Chuck) and of course Kevin.

@@yunaperruna But you are. Read what you write. Also, Frankie is a big of the band. Chucky Wright, who has history with the band dating back to 1982, is still in the band. The current lineup(minus James) was the band when Kevin was alive. Also, like you just said, maybe Frankie was in a bad mood. Again, Kevin didn't want Carlos and Rudy in the band.

@@JIF882 Are you kidding me? Frankie never was a huge composer in the band; All songs were written by Kevin and mostly with Carlos (the sound of his battery was never exceptional even). The real QR sound it's that way because of them. Kevin didn't want Rudy in the band, Carlos was invited but he refuse that invitation if Rudy wasn't on it, and that's it. You can find a lot of interviews showing that, so you need to read a little bit more about it.

If Quiet didn't change their name when all those people left, then why should they now? Frankie, Alex Grossi, and Chuck Wright were in the band with Kevin. Chuck has also been involved with the band off and on since 1982.
