I enjoyed this particular video as you’ve shown me other types of paper for quilling! Your instructions are always easy to follow. I have appreciated any of your videos that I have watched as well as learning from each one. For storage, I have been using 5 x 7” boxes that would hold photos. Consequently, my strips are always curved exactly like they arrive at my home in cellophane packs. I do like your storage idea so much better, so will be trying that idea as it will offer my strips nice and straight. I’ve told a friend as well as my daughter about your videos and both of them have learned from you as well now! Many thanks for all the help you’ve given in your videos as I have learned so much from them. Please continue to make your videos as I promise to watch and enjoy them! Jan

I just love your tips and tricks - so helpful! Re storage, to you have any recommendations for storing finished works? For small ones I use CD jewel cases (without the insert) and cigarette boxes (which also double as box frames), but I haven't come up yet with a solution for larger pieces. And thank you for your templates!
That's great you're finding these tutorials and templates helpful, CourseShaper! I have saved chocolate boxes in the past because they're quite sturdy, flat, and free. For pieces larger than chocolate boxes, I've visited stationary stores and found filing boxes but they're quite pricey.

OMG I just looked up that thicker paper you mentioned(Canson Mi-Teintes) it is SO expensive! 10 sheets for approx $28 on Amazon! Online through Walmart it's even more expensive! I gotta try that Bazzil paper and hopefully that will work. I am looking for a good quality thicker paper for quilling. Anyone have any suggestions for me that works for them? And anyone else have tips on cutting our own strips? Thanks!
Hi Michelle, I prefer to buy at my local fine art supply store. It’s $1.40 for a letter size sheet in Canada. If you live in the US, you can buy from Hobby Lobby or Dick Blicks. I tend to avoid Bazzil because I find it too thick. I tried cutting 10MM strips on a 12X12 piece of paper. The Cricut machine stated I needed a larger 13" piece for precise sizing of the strips. I couldn't make it work and ended up with strips too wide. What can I do?
Hi Diana, in the "Size" section, please click the "Lock" icon. This will let you change the length without changing the width. Currently with your lock turned on, both measurements will change.

Hi Kitika, I would not trust anyone who told you what to buy, because that person does not know your crafting needs, your computer skill level, and your budgetary constraints. The person you need to ask is you. I can tell you that I've owned a Cricut Explore Air and Silhouette SD and would say the Cricut software is easier for beginners. I am a graphic designer, I don't use their software, I do many forms of paper crafting beyond quilling, so my needs might be different than yours. I only use the 3 mats Cricut sells, and do not buy extra supplies for quilling. I have made some recent videos that show how I'm using the Cricut for quilling, and I suggest you watch those to see it being used. I also suggest you search RU-vid for comparison videos that explain in much more detail about the different models, and their capabilities. Then you can make an informed decision for yourself. Hi Lily, so happy to have you watching my videos! Thank you so much for your kind words - glad it’s helping you! For the files, there are a few file types I offer so I’m not sure which type you downloaded, and which program you’re using to open, and finally what error message your computer is saying. If you are cutting by hand, you will need Acrobat Reader (free program) to open the PDF file type. If you are cutting by electric machine, then your program will need to import either SVG or DXF. All these files types are listed in my blog post, so if you accidentally tried one file type, just try the other one with the right program I listed above. Let me know if that helps!
Hi Angie, no the Daiso paper I am showing here is not like origami paper. Origami paper is very thin and the Daiso paper is thicker “text weight”. I’m happy to hear my tutorials are helpful! 😄

Hi Cecelia . I am just trying to decide whether to get a Cricut Explore or Maker. Any thoughts on which would be best? Also, am I right thinking that if you cut your own strips you are going to be restricted to the length of an A4 sheet, and do you find the strips you can make long enough? Are you constantly having to stick strips together to make longer ones? Thanks.
They made the Maker a few years after I bought my Explore. My Explore can do 90% of the tasks I want it to do. There are times I want to cut thicker materials like mat board, but that's not often. If I had no cutter, I would likely choose the Maker for that ability, but it really comes down to what kind of crafts you do other than quilling. I really love die cutting of all types, not just for quilling. I make greeting cards and boxes and on and on... Cricut offers 12x24" mats too, so you can cut much longer strips. It's just a bit more work because I don't have much space in my room. If I had a project that needed longer strips, then I would go the extra mile and cut them that long. Canson Mi-Teintes paper is available in larger sheets too. In the end though, I have not done so yet, because as you guessed, I just simply end my strip at a corner and glue the corners together, so the join is not as noticeable. Since I realize a cutter and extra large sheets is not as accessible for most people, most of my tutorial examples show the easier methods. I hope that helps you decide!
I think it depends on your cutter, so I've made the SVG files for you to download and try it yourself in 1 mm and 2mm. @@PaperZenCeceliaLouie hey the cricut is still cutting, I think 2mm is 2mm because I measured with ruler scale it was 3mm And 1mm is working excellent.. cricut cut it nicely, I was able to strip it off from the mat carefully.. it came out good.
I don't own the Joy model so I can't confirm that for you, but since quilling paper is typically quite thin, I wouldn't expect there to be a challenge. I couldn't find the "cutting force" on their website, but the Amazon details show it can cut 50+ materials, whereas the Explore can cut 100+.
Hi Maz, you need to make sure the Cricut model can import SVG files because not all of them can. Hello sewittoday, when I looked years ago, I couldn't see any options. Today, when I googled it, I was amazed to find this link! They have a minimum and several packs though. I also machine embroider and have lots of vinyl strips and it would be great for vinyl strips as well. It might keep Wool felt sheets nicer too!. maybe I can tame the mess, be more organized and be able to work more efficient. Thank you for the great video.
