Quillows have been around a long time and are very easy to make. Look and see how a regular blanket can be made into a Quillow with a twist and a flip. fabric is www.ttfabrics.c... sewing machine is babylock.ca/jou...
I did it! 🤸🏽♀️It turned out great! 🥰 the only adjustment I made was to overlap the opening in the back of the quillow about 4 inches so the blanket doesn't peek through. So glad I picked this tutorial to follow! Thank you Laura!😍
This is without a doubt the nicest way to make a quillow. The way it is fully enclosed gives a more "finished" appearance. Clear, concise, easy to follow video. By overlapping the "flaps" a few inches helps close the gap. No more loosing the quilts storage bag! Thank you so much💝
It is incredible how extraordinary and likewise easy to realize your projects are. We all are so happy that we found you. Thanks a lot, God bless you. Greetings from Germany.
I like this idea that when it is finished you have the quilting on both sides! Very ingenious. I work in a Cancer Center where the patients are all so cold. Perhaps this is a gift that would make them feel better and keep them warm. I know I am watching my husband fight small cell lung Cancer! Little things mean a lot to the Cancer Patients! Thanks again for sharing!
Yes I agree. I think we all know someone that has had to fight Cancer and they are always cold. I have make Cancer quilts too but this would be a great way for them to travel with them..Thanks for the idea, and keep up the great work.
I want to say thank you for replying to this. Now I know I want to do this. I have tons of fleece donated to me and now I know what to do with it all. Thank you so much. Go figure one fabric. OMG I am in heaven. I have tons of North Face Fabric and needed to make my son a Motor Cycle Blanket so now I know I will do this and add straps so he can atach to MC.
I’ve never heard of Quillows before, this is so neat! I love it. I also love your beautiful hair, measuring tape bracelets & that wonderful black & white quilt behind you!
I have seen a quillow done is a few different ways. This one is the best and easiest way by far. Thank you for this tutorial, I also will be making these with fleese for gifts. By the way I have to tell you that your hair is absolutely stunning, Just love the color.
Your Welcome, have fun making them! Also thank you for the compliment! I stopped coloring it, so now it is my natural color "white sort of grey" Thanks again and have a great day
Fabulous! Just finished my first one but there will be more to come. I overlapped the flaps about an inch and there is room for some velcro to keep it closed in back. SOOO CUTE! Thank you very much!
Hi - just thought I'd mention that I added about eight inches or so to the longest length and overlapped them rather than making them just meet. It made a nice closed envelope. First thing I've made since breaking my ankle. I really enjoy your videos (I live in N.Ireland)
Thank you so much for this video! I haven't sewn a stitch since high school 15 years ago! I'm a knitter myself and seeking inspiration for a quillow for my nephew due in a couple months! This tutorial makes it look so fun and easy I may just take up sewing again!! I love how this method keeps it much cleaner than other designs!
Your such a great teacher or instructor. I really enjoy your tutorials. I've made your triangle pillow and now I'm gonna try this quillow. Thank you sew very much!
Not just a great idea for gift giving, but a great way to store extra blankets for guests, that double as throw pillows! I'd add snaps, buttons or ties to close it better. Right now I keep those extra blankets in the plastic zippered bags in the closet where they're taking up a good portion of my shelf. 😜
Oh i love your way of doing quillow so much, very clear tutorial, i will try it on my baby's fleece blanket--we got a lot as gift, and i think this is a good way to upcycle them! Thanks so much!
+diana diamond Thanks, so glad you like the video and the bangles you can buy here shop.shannonpassero.com/ultimate-closet/jewelry-shop/measured-bangle-set.html
I love this, thank you for sharing your talents... been looking for this tutorial for a long time. Your tutorial was easy to follow and understand and I look forward to making these for all my grand-babies :)
Wow! This is just what I needed to see, I have eight grandchildren each with their blanket at Nannys house. So guess what I'm making in my half term? Thank you so much. Maureen Pue I love you tip too 😀
Awesome idea,I have never heard that term before.I might have to try this. This would be a great idea for baby and children's blankets in the car to travel with.
Really liked this simple way of making the quillow . This will be my first one and hope to enjoy making it. expecting our second grand child . will make lovely Christmas presents. {zimbabwe}
I'm going to make some of these in pink for Valentines Day gifts! Thank you for your great ideas. I just recently found you and you've inspired me to get my sewing machine out and my trips to the fabric store have been such fun. Thanks again! Xoxo rainey
I live in UK and it always cold hire I become cover of soft cussing and blankets this will be great idea for compact all blankets and change them for easy storage as my house is very small and my dog like mess with them when I am not home hahaha and they can easel can be stored in kids room as floor pillow for reading books on floor if blanket is enough big ... I love your ideas no zippers no fancy pansy tricks and useful and practical
I have watched various other tutorials on how to make something similar to this but none of them were nearly as detailed as this! Really wanting to try this, great video 😄
I love it! So many times I just search for project suggestions on RU-vid and I find ideas on your channel. Someone gave me a soft blanket that they didn’t like because, while it’s cozy, it’s so soft it’s messy. Now I’ll just adapt and disguise it as a throw pillow until needed. Thank you - again. (Hmm. Wonder if they’ll want it back. )
i made a quillow in middle school for home ech and i loved it but it was'nt a full sized blanket now that i'm in college i kinda want to make a new one thats soft but then has the cotton quilt pillowcase and folds flat like a pillow . this tutorial was great!
Thank you for a great tutorial. It would be wonderful to have the fabric measurements and requirements listed below so those can be prepared to follow along with your instructions.
love the quillow tutorial, great idea for the grands Christmas gifts, could not take my eyes off the black and white quilt behind you, I'm searching for it on your You tube channel, love it also!
I love this quillow style so much that I've subscribed to your channel . I'm going to make a couple of these for Christmas gifts. Thanks for the video and I look forward to more of your tutorials in the future. Merry Christmas!
I like your way of doing this so much better than others I've seen. Thank you for your tutorial. I think that when I make one I might make the ends of the pillowcase overlap by a few inches so it is completely closed rather than gaping open so perhaps the recipient could stash extras inside with the blanket like toys or books and they won't fall out.
I think it is impossible for me to do because of my disabilities...I would love to learn some day. This is now a bucket list goal of mine. I would love an owl and lighthouse one.
Love that idea! Do recipients of the gift understand how to tuck the blanket back in and out? Don't laugh, I am thinking of including an instruction sheet with pictures. Is anyone else do this? Quillows are new to me ~ maybe I'm the only one in the dark. LOL
I was thinking of including a url to a video of me folding it haha...I can't think of a way to explain it without pictures. Mine has a lot of the "dot minky" fabric and cannot be washed in anything, but cold water and must hang to dry or the dots disappear forever, so I was thinking of including a wash/care tag as well. I know this post is old, but if you wound up making an instruction sheet and want to send it my way, I wouldn't complain lol. kdavenport951@gmail.com This whole project got so out of control so fast...
Laura- I’ve known what a quillow is but have not made one. Perhaps you could show another one by making the quilt style! I do like the fleece idea and Thank you. I always enjoy your videos ❤️😀
Oh my Gosh! For some reason this video came up from 2024 (away before I started quilting) and I’m in love with the black and white quilt on the wall. Could you share pattern details please?
I enjoyed your way of teaching how to make this. So easy and simple to understand and I also like that it is a bit different than the rest out there. I have lots of full size sheets and blankets and the way you show to do it make it pretty easy which is so appreciated. I did add a bit more to the one side of where the two materials meet to it folded in nicely like a pillow sham. But I do have a question for you. I want to make and sell these do I need to get your permission to use your instructions? Thanks. :)
