I LOVE USING THIS.... BUT FIRST OF MY BLOCKS IS 12X12 SIZE AND YOU NEED TO HAVE AT LEAST AN INCH AWAY FROM YOUR SEAMES SO WHEN YOU ADD THE SASHING YOU WONT BE CLOSE TO YOUR BLOCK DESIGNS. I HAVE BEEN MAKING QUILTS GOT OVER 20 YEARS. OTHER VIDEOS ON HERE SHOWS YOU HOW TO PROPERLY USE IT. I MAKE A LOT OF CRUMB QUILTS AND JELLY ROLL QUILTS AND CRAZY QUILTS WHERE IT DOES NOT MATTER ABOUT THE EDGES OF THE BLOCKS.

I agree with you 100%😊. It works wonderfully for the type of blocks you mentioned. However, it doesn’t work for well with pieced blocks with points. Thanks for sharing your feedback😊. Please join me for another video.

I love Leah Day's QAYG joining method-it is almost flawless!

Tammi, thank you for pointing this out. That would be heartbreaking to make a bunch of blocks and use this method. I would have had steam coming out of my ears…haha. I do have a way I have made 2 string block quilts and it was over 12 years ago I made them and they are still going strong all these years with no problems. I went to the window or glass store and had a square 12” plexiglass square cut and a 13 or 14” plexiglass square cut. They were cheaper than buying new rulers template grids. I didn’t need the ruler markings anyway. My blocks were string quilt blocks. After piecing the block, cut batting to fit I then cut my 13 or 14 inch block and centered the block inside, folded over the outer edges inward then folded over the remaining over the top, pinned and sewed a stitch along the edge all the way around the block. I would then free motion quilt my design on each square. Then after all squares were quilted I would take 2 squares and lay them side by side touching and zig zag down each seam and I may have even done it twice for each seam. I had myself 2 quilts in no time. And yes I know that is not how a real quilt is made but it was the way for me to get my quilts made on my domestic machine. 😆. The point of the plexiglass plates were so I could lay them on my fabric and cut quickly with my rotary cutter without measuring each block. I don’t follow rules in my hobbies…..😂. I got it done and it worked for me. Tonight I have been sewing up 6x14 inch rectangles to make a friend of my daughter rice ice packs for her hot flashes in the middle of the night. Whew, so glad I don’t have to deal with that anymore. Okay I’m off to add rice to more bags. Have a great evening! 🥰

Hey Tammy! String quilt blocks, now that sounds like an idea for a video 😊. The process you described sounds like something I would do! You’re so creative. And yes, like you I don’t follow rules in my crafts 😂. Best of luck with your current project. Thanks as always for sharing. I truly enjoy reading your comments & value your loyalty my friend 😊

Thank you for this...I have not found a good way to put together QAYG blocks. Was about to try this and after watching your video it helped me decide not too.

My pleasure 😊. It’s a wonderful product for y-shirt quilts. Just not for quilt blocks you’ve worked so hard on to get those beautiful points 😊. Thank you for commenting. I hope you subscribe so you won’t miss more inspiring videos. I’ll see you in my next video 😊👋🏽

I’ve wondered about this product - and thanks for trying it out! I think it,would,work,for,so,e,blocks,but,obviously,not for many others. Maybe if using a block like the one you made, perhaps adding “sashing” type strips all around enlarging the block and not losing the points. Then use this product. But honestly I think I’d rather use one of the methods for QAYG that may take longer to finish but give a much better result! I have a few books I’ve had for a few years on QAYG and there are several ways to join blocks and end up with a beautiful quilt! I appreciate you showing us that this particular product might not work well with regular pieced blocks!

Thank you Sandy😊! I think the product is excellent for t-shirt quilts. But I agree with you, there are other QAYG methods that allow you to keep your blocks intact. Thank you so much for commenting. I’m so glad you found the channel. I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. The product still works but you need a bigger block.

My pleasure. Agreed😊. I will save it for either a t-shirt quilt or a larger block without obvious points. Thanks for sharing. Please join me again for another video 😊

Thank you for sharing. I've never used the quilt as you go method, but it appears to have merit. Too bad this product didn't work out very well.

I really love the pinwheel one! I was thinking what if, you get 1/4th inch double bias tape two of them and sew open it up and sew down the center. Wonder how that would work out? I was thinking of doing the same thing on my next project now not so sure. Thank you for the video and subscribing to your channel!

Thank you! I tried a similar procedure by adding a 1 inch strip on either side as a “leader”. The results came out “ok” but it was way too much work for me😂. I am so grateful that you subscribed 🙏🏽. Welcome to the community😊. I’m just getting started here and I have some fun projects planned! See you in the next video 👋🏽

I would think you would need to increase the size of your finished block larger to compensate for the width of the stash in the dash product in order not to lose your points.

I thought about that but the largest AccuQuilt Qube set I own is the 9 inch set. I think the projects best suited for this product are t-shirts quilts, crazy & crumb block quilts. It’s a great product, just not for pieced blocks with points. Thanks for the suggestion, it’s valuable 😊. I’ll see you in the next video 😊

What embroidery machine do you use?

I have 2. I have a Brother Stellaire. And I have a 15 needle Barudan commercial embroidery machine 😊. Thanks for asking, if you want to see videos on how I embroider with my Stellaire, let me know😊. Thanks for your question. I’ll see you in the next video 😊

I'm interested in quilting with an embroidery machine. Which machine do you prefer for this? Do you have any videos?
@TammisStitches
@TammisStitches 3 месяца назад
Great! I’ve wanted to make videos about this but wasn’t sure if anyone was interested😊. It depends on the project. If I’m doing a small, lightweight project, I use my Stellaire. If I’m doing a larger, heavier project, I’ll use my commercial machine. I defer to my commercial machine because of the strong magnetic hooping system I use called Mighty Hoops. I don’t currently have any videos, but stay tuned. I’ll get one out in the next week or so😊. Thank you for expressing you interest, I’m excited to create these videos 😊

I have left machine embroidery go by the wayside for quite a few years but recently wanted to get back into using it. I’d love to see how to use those quilting designs!
