Thank you Michael for a very informative and well presented tutorial. I was fortunate to visit a Janome dealer and purchase the 9450 secondhand when the previous owner wanted to upgrade her machine. To be honest I was overwhelmed with all the features. After watching you I have a much better understanding of the feet, the plates and navigating the menu - I think… If I get lost again I now know which videos to go to find the answers.

I’m a quilter. I watched many RU-vid videos to help me decide which machine to buy and chose the Janome 9450. Your demonstration/tutorial on the features of this machine is super helpful. Thank you so much!

Hello. Great explanation. Still learning about my 9450. I put the thread cutter peddal on the table top and hit it with the side of my palm to cut. It’s fast. Will rewatch. Need help with auto needle threader. Love Janome, have a few. Granny me.

Hi there, this is the first machine that I really wanted to get when I was first looking for a good sewing machine. I thought it was great. I ended up getting the skyline s7, and now I'm thinking of upgrading to this machine as I can afford it.

awesome! That's great feedback, Mariana. There's a machine for everyone to meet every need, and it's great to go with your gut and get the machine you truly love and will have for years. Happy Sewing!

When I get a new sewing machine, I like to split the manual on the spine, and place each page in a page protector and put them in a fresh 3 ring binder. I usually add several empty page protectors for samples of my test stitching and even photos.

Thank you Michael, I really like your presentation and your very informative explanations. I still hesitate between the skyline S7, the 9450, the 6700 P or the M7. I mainly make objects: bags, cases, plaids, not really sewing clothes, what do you recommend?

Hi, very helpful your video. I am about to buy a sewing machine. I am in love with MC 15,000 because I was thinking to use the hoops for quilting, since I am not very clever with free motion, but it is completely out of my budget . So , this machine 9450 has almost the same , big space to work, 11”. Without the hoops. I will appreciate any advice to improve my quilting . The Skyline S9 is also and option , do not have a big space, but would have the hoops . I think I am going to need some advice to help me decided which one to buy. Thank you in advanced .

May I ask, if you wanted to set up your machine to do a scant 1/4", you say to change the setting from 8.3 to 9.0mm, wouldn't you just want to move it to say 8.4, 8.5mm? Seems like a big jump to 9.0mm. Thank you for all the great information for using my new (used) 9450. It came with everything but the dvds, is there any chance I can get a copy of the them?

Does the 9450 accommodate making Serpentine switch (stitch 20 in quilting section) with the Acura- feed foot?
@janomehqjanomecanada4908
@janomehqjanomecanada4908 6 месяцев назад
No, once the AcuFeed feeding system is engaged by pressing the AcuFeed icon, only straight stitches remain to be selected. All other stitches are grey out as the AcuFeed Flex foot only wants to move forward to help feed the fabric. To use the Serpentine stitch which goes side to side as well as forward, do not press the AcuFeed icon to engage the AcuFeed feeding system. Happy Sewing!

I recently got this machine. I was a Pfaff gal. There is much to love about this machine. I think it might be fabulous if you are quilting. I sew a lot of home Dec projects with 1/2 Inc seams which is a PITA to perfect on this machine. So it t and I are not bonding....I also the interface annoying, and quite frankly unnecessary. And It's noisy even with quiet mode on. I am 😞

Hello! Sometimes it takes longer to bond with a machine as there's so much to learn with more sophisticated machines. There's many ways to achieve a 1/2" seam allowance. The patented needle plate has 1/2" markings to follow, and the machine comes with a fabulous adjustable cloth guide which can be set up to 1/2" to help accurately guide the fabric. There are many optional specialty presser feet available as well, like the Janome Sliding Guide Foot and the Edge Guide Foot, which can also help achieve an accurate 1/2" seam allowance. Happy Sewing!

Yes, I got the expensive foot, $75, that works great for the regular foot configuration. The HD foot plate and the other plates barely have any markings for a 1/2 inch; markings which are obliterated when using the plastic seam guide supplied. I will get there, but it's frustrating. I wish Janome put more effort into making the 1/2 marking more visible on all the plates is all. It all changes when you go to the HD foot, then the accufeed foot and sometimes depending on fabric and layers. Thanks! I can't wait to make a quilt with this machine. I think that's where this machine will shine.

@@KJW930 Each of Janome's 4 patented needle plates have 3 indicator markings for a 1/2" seam allowance. To help see them better, you could use the AcuView Optic Magnifiers or a piece of low tack tape along those 3 guides so they're more pronounced. The markings aren't necessary to follow when using the Cloth Guide. Do a little test same to be sure it's set at the correct seam allowance width and the clear longer fence of the guide is what you'll follow. Yes, the HP Needle Plate has markings, including 1/2" set using the left needle position. Typically this needle pate and corresponding narrow HP Foot are used for 1/4" seam allowances, but there are guides for the 1/2" seam allowance, as well. The MC9450QCP is a fabulous all purpose machine, but yes, quilting is one thing it does very well. There are many Sewing Applications and presser feet included to achieve those results. Happy Sewing!
