Very informative. Do you pin or baste your quilts first? And, if so, do you pin the whole quilt or just a section at a time, please?

Would it be a bad idea to do wavy lines (vertically & horizontally) for a large quilt? It wouldn’t be in a small area, it would be the whole way down…

Using a walking foot would be much easier for that. Start from the centre, top to bottom. It is a great idea too! Just baste well and you should be good.

For a small-throat machine and a king-size quilt, what batting is recommended?

Thank you Amira. I have a Janome M200 QDC, it’s only a 6” throat space. Do you think it’s possible to quilt a Queen Size quilt on it?
@littlemushroomcap
@littlemushroomcap 2 года назад
Surely! It will be easier with larger throat machine but it is definitely possible. I have done queen size quilts on small throat machine too. It just takes longer time. Just remember we are only quilting a small area at a time, but it will eventually get done. 😊

Thanks for this video! But I am a beginner and have a stupid question. I am working on my first quilt, can I still use my domestic (Singer 44S HD) machine to quilt regular - NOT free motion. My quilt is about 63x72. But just roll the excess up in the throat? Or do you recommend having it quilted with a long arm machine at the quilt shop? Thanks!

If you want quilt straight lines, be sure to use a walking foot. You can absolutely do it with a small machine. But it does take quite a bit of rolling. It will also take some time too. I would recommend it if you’re ready to take the challenge. try it out on a smaller piece too if you’ve never done quilting three layers before and see whether it is something you can do on a larger scale

@@littlemushroomcap thank you! I have done a quilted table runner. That’s the monster that made me want to do a full blanket! My only real problem was the binding. But now I know what to expect. I’m just hesitant and that’s why I’m procrastinating! Thank you so much for the response. God bless you! ❤️🙂🇺🇸

What machine are you using?

Are you working with or without a stitch regulator?
@littlemushroomcap
@littlemushroomcap 2 года назад
No stitch regulator.. I find it it is not that hard to get a fairly even stitch once we can get good practice. And even if they’re not perfectly spaced in stitches, as long as they’re not too far apart or too close- it will turn out okay.

Hi Christen.. I am using Janome Horizon 8200. I have had this for over 5 years now and I am still in love with it like it’s new... truly my workhorse..

I have a machine like yours and I love it. I am curious to know what is your thread preference? My 8200 does not sew well with certain trilobel polyester threads, so I am in a quandary. I really like your videos. You explain everything in detail.

@@lizryan6289 Superior Thread So Fine or Aurifil works well for my machine.. I absolutely recommend those two..

@@littlemushroomcap I have two janome 7700 and 9400. Neither one likes the trilobite. Both like gutterman. My 7700 is not really fussy at all. My 9400 is extremely picky.
