Quintrex BUSTA 420 is this really the FINAL MOD? From SC to CC TEST - difficult retrieve at ramp

After a couple of trips out, I decided I couldn't live with the excessive list from having too much weight to starboard from the SIDE CONSOLE, so I changed it - to CENTRE CONSOLE. A quick trip out to TEST the new configuration. A bit of fun at the ramp retrieving in less than ideal conditions...AND make sure you flush that engine.

I think moving the console John was a good choice. 360 degrees fishing is great when out in your own especially if you hook up on a decent size tuna or spanish mackerel. Persist with soft plastics and you will get the results. My biggest fish are regularly caught in lures. Baitrunner in the rod holder with a live or dead bait. Casting the lure while keeping an eye on the on in the rod holder. Both bases covered.

Thanks Brad...I like the helm position of a centre console...as far as lure casting ...I'll keep at it but may do more bait fishing to mix things up. Cheers

I've followed your Busta 'tweaking' from the start, youv'e done a great job, you obviously didn't need my input. Still, if I may offer my starting criteria for boat mods'. I'll start with keeping the floor low in the hull. Installing a permanent low profile 40L fuel tank toward the stern on the keel. Keeping as much heavy gear on the keel (battery/s and equipment etc.) under as large as possible, unobstructed 1 level floor. And I'm sure there is, at a premium price, an aluminium welder, in the north. I've been told by others my boat tweaking is an addiction, I don't care, I know what I want.

Thanks for your input Ross, it’s always great to hear someone else’s perspective…and it encourages new ideas to improve the existing…yep, for me too, boat tweaking is an addiction 😆👍

Gday mate i found my angla pro to be a really stable boat wish i hadnt had to sell it but thats life ,how do you find your control box any problems with the way it works ? i have the same one but i took my sticker off . you will eventually work out what is best for you me personally i would have a seat and the esky behind the casting deck with your lures have you checked out "old dog lures" i think they are made by a guy up your way in townsville seem to have a good reputation anyway take care p.s wear a life jacket .

G’day …agreed the Anglapro was very stable…the control box works perfectly, I’ve always had right hand control boxes…with trim buttons for right hand thumb…probably just coincidence. I used custom (homecut) aluminium square tube for spacers…for a reverse fitting to console. As for lures, I’ve got that many not even used…I used to do well down in NSW casting for bream and flatties…since moving here 8 years ago…not so successful 😆

Thats good to here about the control box i have just finished the resto but still have not got it into the water as i need to get some flares there pretty hot on that down here and if you want to go out wide then the safety equipment gets more i actually carry 3 extingusers cant think of much worse than a fire on a glass boat . have a look at the old dog lures different species in the north jacks spaniards trouties caught a long tom once mate the teeth on them things .

next time drive the boat up onto the trailer that way its just a matter of getting out with the motor running that holds the boat then just clip it onto the front .easu as .
@hkayztheoldguy
@hkayztheoldguy 6 месяцев назад
wasn't able to do that mate... 1. if the trailer was straight down ramp...the fast current flowing in plus wind 15knots pushing the boat in same direction would have made it too difficult and potentially cause damage to boat...2. where parked in clip...way too shallow to put prop in water to drive on...

I still like the console configuration...storage options, place for mounting GPS Fishfinders etc.

You put your console on the wrong side. My 4.5m Tasmanian built Midnight Marine tinny is left hand drive. It’s not just the weight you have to think of, it’s the rotation of the prop. That’s what makes it list to starboard. Putting the helm on the other side counters that effect.

Most motors cause listing to the port side, right hand consoles negates this. His leccy is also on the left, so no, he should not put the console on the left.

@@kyus1974 well, my helm is on the port side and it completely cured the boats listing issue!

Thanks for your comment…the starboard listing issue was definitely due to weight increase…the 420 Busta is not very wide, sensitive to weight distribution.

Be easier to get a SC Renegade / Outlaw

I don’t think 4.2 SC Renegades are free from listing, maybe less so because of wider beam. Regardless, I’m an Old Guy and being a builder, I have an obsession to improve instead of “buying better”…😜😉

@@hkayztheoldguy My side console 420 Renegade doesn't seem to list but definitely travels better with weight up in the bow when going it alone.

Seriously, 1 minute in to your video !!!!! If your solo, move the rest of your gear to the Port Side (LEFT) its not rocket science ! You are not running a Bertram 36 foot craft !!!! REALLY HAVE A THINK ABOUT IT in a small boat and what you need to do to Level it up !!!! SHOULD NEVER HAVE CHANGED THE CONFIGURATION .
