Everyone says "Barca is number 1 in league and top the UCL group" but the same people also do not watch or follow barca or watch too few of them. This season would more than likely end in a disaster if Valverde was still in charge. The Liverpool and Valencia games were a major factor but there is more to that. Even if we have won two league titles under EV, he has not solved the major problems in our squad. No, we're not just looking for attractive football, but his game style simply do not bring the best out of everyone and relies on Messi or individual brilliance too heavily. For the past 2 seasons nobody has really grown, in fact many players are declining under him. This season our performances especially in defence have been the worst for the past decade. And his man management style is another issue cos he is too lax especially with senior players. He selects starting 11s based on favoritism not on merit. Don't get me started on the fitness issues, and giving players too many day offs. The list goes on. It was really obvious Valverde should have gone after last season's end and this was the board's fault. Now after a half season he has damaged the club even further. I don't know if Setien would succeed, but time will tell.
TheFNProductionz Yes but that circles back to Valverde because in his first season it was obvious Pique was injured and he played the full season. After that the past 2 he started him no matter how bad he performed. Todibo showed he can snatch his place with the few chances he was given. In the Inter game he bullied Lautaro Martinez most of the game and that is not easy by any means. He was pushed over by Lukaku but I think he can get a few more pounds of muscle as he ages and become a starter for many years to come. I hope Shalke don’t get the money for his buy out clause after the loan.

When you think about it, maybe he can use the 3-5-2 formation as for now. Messi and Griezmann as strikers. Firpo-LM, Arturo Vidal- CAM, Sergi Roberto/Semedo- RM De Jong and Busquets- Double pivot(CDM) And a back three of Umtiti, Lenglet, Pique.

Ddv Sgd i think we have some players that have pace but not all if dembele wants a chance he should play as a left back if semedo or wague is leaving although i think wague has great potential and good in both phases needs only time and trust
I can't say if he will win trophies but i will say he will bring back the style that cules were craving for. Possession based attacking tika taka style. Thanks for the analysis! Some of my favorite players are on Barcelona and it has been painful watching them suffer. I hope it gets better for them under Setien.
Great video as usual, although I expected to see an analysis of Setien team with 4 defenders cause I guess he won't play the 3 at the back at least not in his first season
They play with four defenders but the left and right back go forward and the central defending mid goes back to be the third defender thats why there are 3 def 4 mid
His philosophy is similar to that of water. free-flowing is filling up space but adaptable to change shape by pushing back and regain shape when they can successfully press and risk a counter-attack. .
I'm happy for setien and barca as I've seen him during both his highs and lows. He's a great coach with cruyff'esq football but it comes with a certain drawback. His matches are either goal thrillers or dull losses. I'll tell you what numbers don't. On paper he's average as he doesn't have high win%. He has a fluid way of playing football which requires ball playing CB and certain types of midfielders. His notable achievements are the 17-18 season at betis and his wins over barca at camp nou and his win against real. He requires ball playing CBs like bartra and CM like carvalho who can split open defences and midfield with his passes and his ability to control the game and its tempo to a certain limit. A creative midfielder like ruiz(now at napoli) who is like a jack of all trades. An attacking midfielder also thrives in his team such as lo celso. He requires wingbacks/fallbacks with high workrate. Competent cb and gk who can play ball and build from the back then using the cdm to distribute ball in triangles. Wingers are similar to wingbacks and sometimes tuck in to create overloads. They usually create overloads in certain areas while attacking. Pressing with a high line. Defence isn't his forte but a fast and able defender helps a lot like bartra was the main cog in the betis system. Signing of bartra was important for betis. He suits barca but only if he gets what he wants. He won't do that well in CL ties as he's stubborn and capable teams will decimate his on counters. At barca he'll have a world class squad but with the agening and not in form backline. Even though pique and busquets have experience and having more posession will help but one slip can cost you a match. No matter the posession (even 70+%) opposition can create dangerous chances and score. He's like sarri in some cases. He's stubborn and will criticize both team and club including fans hence many fans hate him. His stubborn ideology and inability to change tactics according to opponents will show against bigger and better opposition.
The thing that many people fail to realize is that this coach now has world-class players to his disposal, where at Betis he did it with average ones, do the math.
Modern Barcelona has always played riskily but they were actually worse under Valverde than Luis Enrique, whose team was often accused of leaking goals. If you look at Valverde's Barcelona, they conceded more xG than under Luis Enrique, and the xG conceded got worse every year. So it's not just this season. A big reason is he didn't play to the strengths of many Barcelona players; he kept wanting them to defend in a 442 and track back rather than aggressively counterpressing and winning the ball back in the opposition half. The reason they are conceding so many actual goals this season is because ter Stegen is having a very average performance by his standards (knee injury); the systemic problems were always there.
Likely no until you buy someone. Tbf Pique doesn't work and then your fullbacks are too high. See Real they've very good CB pairing along with defensively good fullbacks and defensive midfielder and a real force in midfield. I think Barca need a fast energetic player instead of Busquets while FdJ plays same role as Busi. Fullbacks are good. Pique needs to be benched.
@@shubhendranathsingh9888 de Jong does not have the same type of qualities as Busquets. Busquets reads the game better, passes better, and keeps the tempo better. We've already seen de Jong attempt the DM role at Barcelona multiple times and he's not as effective there. It is not always about being "fast" in this game. On Barcelona, de Jong is better as an interior because he's very good at progressing the ball. As for Pique, he needs rest so he can stay focused; he's playing too many games. But he is still the best centerback on the team. (I do think he needs a better partner though; IMO Umtiti is more suitable as a partner for Pique than Lenglet is.)
@@Biscottea Need to understand why he can't keep up the tempo choose perfect passes etc. He can be good defensively but if his positioning and game readings skills aren't apt then you need a DM. The thing is nowadays you need a playmaker like Arthur, a workhorse like Fede Valverde and a DM. Now if that DM isn't good on the ball and can't pick good passes you need yourplaymaker to do them like Kroos. Need to understand if Frenkie can't be Busquets where does he fit. Now the tactics 2009 won't work in 2020 also that Barca had really good team plus forwards did most of running duties.

I'm a kid. Is coach really that important to the team's performances? I mean, at the end of the day, those players would be the one on the field. I watched maybe 2-3 games in which Junior Firpo played, and obviously, he's a shit player. Passing, dribbling, all of em off point. Can he be better under a new coach?
I just wanna see Barca play tiki taka style of play and under quique I can believe that it will happen but quique should rest pique and Barca needs to buy some good defenders with pace
@@PiotrFoot But moving to Spurs he was taken out of the system, and is now struggling to reach his former glory. Pochettino is more of a reactive coach, playing to counter the opposition, rather than controlling the games with a set team and method of play. This is doubled down on with the hiring of Mourinho !! Seems like Quique Setién had a set system, where Lo Celso knew his role, knowing exactly where to be and what to do at any point in time. That seems less to be the case in England.
First thing, there are two games just to get some footage Second thing, I've followed his career since he was at Las Palmas, and I saw 90% of Betis games last season, meaning I know what I'm talking about
@@PiotrFoot yeah. But the games I have followed him he made use of midfielders to create the main output of chances. Some matches he used wingbacks , some he used fast passing with vertical approach. You can't say you've watched 100 of his games and then show us 1 match in the Europa league against AC Milan to give us the WHOLE PICTURE about quique

Quite different to the ajax style id say. Or at least the ajax style before the 2010s. They lack movement before they enter the final third and are a bit too passive, but his football is so attractive.

I see a 4-3-3 normal or a False9 one formation which can transition into a 1. 3-4-3 (Busquets dropping at CB, fullbacks pushing up) or a 2. 3-4-1-2 (where Griezmann is near the box & Fati/Perez play out wide & Messi as a CAM) or a 3. 3-4-2-1 where Messi & Griezmann/any midfielder get a free roam on either side of the pitch and Suarez playing up top. Anything can happen and it will be exciting to watch this team play.
Considering Setién has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave in the summer and Barcelona approached Xavi first that's not impossible. We will have to wait and see how he performs.

Sarri was destroyed by pep Guardiola his vertical approach is highly risky remember Manchester City destroyed Chelsea 6-0 because Guardiola played a high defensive line and counter pressing which destroyed Chelsea completely
@@sauravsastry How is vertical play risky? Chelsea lost that game because of Sarri's blunt approach to that game and because their defense wasn't good at all. If you have midfielders with good passing accuracy and do counterpress when the ball is lost, then vertical approach is highly successful. Horizontal tiki taka died when Bayern destroyed Barca. Pep's style very closely resembles Sarri's style as both have a high defensive line, play possession based, and do counterpressing, the only difference is how they play in the final third. I also don't understand why most people prefer managers who play possession based football? Pep has been destroyed multiple times by Klopp's Liverpool. I always prefer a manager with a more balanced approach to the game by going offensive or defensive accordingly and not sticking to their philosophy no matter what.
@@sauravsastry but, why didn't it work the next time ? Sarri won 2-0 the next match. It's not just 2 systems contesting each other. Attitude and performance of players, manager decisions etc play a big part. Remember that Guardiola was also destroyed by various coaches like Heynckes, Klopp etc. I said what I prefer. And I prefer taking some risks for some attack rather having boring unproductive possession.
@@josin007 he lost because sarri told Alonso to pass it to jorginho and then to hazard there was space being created by Manchester City where Chelsea didn't utilise that they could have utilised that and first of all sarri's management style did not suit Chelsea plus i agree that Guardiola is outclassed by Klopp many times but that is only in champions league if Guardiola's barcelona faces klopp's Liverpool so we can definitely say pep's barcelona is superior compared to klopp's Liverpool
