In my opinion, jet boots are well-designed because when I come across them, I feel an immediate rush of excitement and enjoyment that lasts throughout the entire mission. If they were nerfed too much, they would fail to evoke the positive reaction they currently do. Additionally, their rarity adds to their appeal, as frequent appearances would diminish the sense of excitement, allowing it to last longer.
@dukeofhollow5541
@dukeofhollow5541 Год назад
The fact you enjoying the item isn't equal that this item is well-designed. Jet boots make a whole system of movement, where every class has his own way to done with obstacles, just useless, so you can fly around, without need to even remember about your platforms of zipline. They are still pretty useful, but missions with boots just loss a lot of gameplay situations related to movement. Playing with them may be easier or more comfortable, but this is doesn't mean, this is good gamedev decision. Especially, if we will remember, how they rework hoverboots, adding to the game jet ones seems even more absurd.

@@dukeofhollow5541 On a PVE game like deep rock you have to consider three main things (imo) to make a well balanced item, overall strenght, avaliability and fun factor, now lets break that down on jet boots They are strong, rare to find and fun to use, which is a good balance, as fun corelates to how often you find yourself having it in your mission, Its a rare pay off that benefits you with MORE gameplay options during your missions. Now lets say everyone agrees boots are too overpowered and need to be toned down, its pay off is much lower and a lot less engaging to encounter in a mission, so now you need to balance it out accoridingly, but increasing fun factor isnt a thing, so you increase spawn rate, suddenly its a common unfun non engaging item that you still only have the chance to find... I feel like the current balance and design of jet boots is near perfect its fun and strong enough but also doesnt completely replace your traversal tool and to compensate its a rare find, of the near 50 missions i did after season 4 ive found 2 jet boots so far, thats a 5% chance to find them per match...

It’s hard to hold GSG to a game standard when their monetization model is top tier, half the reason I supported this game so hard is because they don’t scalp the players real money. Hard to judge a game when certain other games are dropping $30 necromancer skins on release

@Count_Goatenberg
@Count_Goatenberg Год назад
I partially disagree with that, the reason being is that I don't believe we should compare a good game to bad games. We should compare it to it's past self and see where it is going. Truth be told season 3 was clearly a downgrade to season 2, but season 4 is very good so far, they even fixed the framedrops on PS4 which was a *massive* step up. Point being: don't justify being hostile to people critical of the seasons by comparing DRG to games with *criminal* monetization. DRG is not a saint or anything for not ripping you off - that's just what it should be like.
@hipposeducer28
@hipposeducer28 Год назад
Well yes, but when the developers suddenly switch the development around from being full of plentiful long-term content through updates to a slow drip-feed of content via a seasonal system, you should probably expect some people to get a bit upset considering that the game's standards for development dropped significantly. And the game's monetization model really has nothing to do with the content inside of it unless if you can pay for content, which you cannot do in this game, so that's a bit irrelevant; I wouldn't simply praise a game for being completely free while the standards for development are low, nor would I praise a game for it having high standards for development with lots of pay 2 win and fomo garbage packed inside. There's a good mixture between the two, and I'd prefer something int he middle with an okay-ish monetization model and some okay-ish development rather than something that lacks both. This isn't to say that Deep Rock Galactic fits into any of these categories; I'd say it has a good monetization model and an okay development cycle, but if you compare the new development after the seasonal updates to that of the development before, it again is not nearly as good. Deep Rock Galactic simply had the good development beforehand to push it where it is now, and the amount of content already provided over that period makes up for the more relaxed period of development that we're faced with now, but I do still believe the devs should at least address how development is changing and their motives behind it instead of leaving some fans to feel upset or even betrayed at the developers' slower pace and the confusing direction.
@MrStonehengeX37
@MrStonehengeX37 Год назад
The standards are abysmal, I agree, I’m disappointed that it’s come to it. Think of how low the bar is right now though, every game that’s been coming out has been a robbery, some have been flat releasing and then day 2 apologizing about poor quality and lack of content. No refunds, just a sorry. I will praise a game for staying accessible while trying to stay relevant, because free stuff doesn’t exactly generate income. It’s sadly no longer a binge game for me, but it’s still worth keeping in the rotation

My primary disappointment is that the Season 4 Missions did not, in fact, guarantee you had to face and beat the new boss, presumably via a rigged spawn chance for at least one of the 'infestation' missions. *That* would have been neat, and ensured everyone got to face at least one while cutting their teeth on the new season. Also, perhaps, an increased chance of them spawning in Lithophane Outbreak missions or something. So you can go looking for them if you fancy the content today, you know? But... that's about it. Oh, I wouldn't mind if Stingtails were a bit bigger, too. They feel like they should be closer to a Praetorian level threat than a Glyphid Guard, but maybe that's just me.

I am soooooo tired of the "dont criticize the update, they are free!!!!1!111" arguement. If gsg are going to continue to put time and resources into developing the game, then I think it's fair to give constructive criticizism on the work that they are doing. Just because it's free doesn't invalidate criticism. Also, I am very concerned that they will continue to add new mini-bosses/events, further making past events rarer and rarer. I rarely see any season 1 events anymore. One last thing, I think that the seasons are becoming too formulaic. Adding new events, new performance pass, new cosmetic tree. With very few variations in content. Once again, I love drg and i will continue to support gsg in their future endeavors. However I am concerned for this game.

Yeah new enemies are fun and all.. but they just add to the general gameplay loop, and does not stop this feeling of repetitiveness at all (at least to me with having 650 hrs played). Like maybe have fathomless dives? A deep dive that goes infinitely down until you fail or decide to retreat, with supply drop costs scaling with how deep it goes. It doesn't necessarily add something new to the game, but you get challenged. These new enemies are fun for a few days, but I can not say that I'm still riveting on the thought to kill a menace to this day.. yet a challenge like infinite/fathomless dives will always stay fun (at least that sounds a lot of fun to me). That's also the reason why the randoweisser was the highlight of this update, because it keeps the game fresh: new enemies don't do that.

@deadeyedun Год назад
Not every game is meant to be played for 1k hours. I would suggest modded hazard levels for more challenge since only 10% of the player base even plays haz 5. From a utilitarian and business standpoint, the developers can't justify designing their game around the top 1% of players.

Im really hoping they add a Rockpox mission in Season 5 even if the event had nothing to do with Rockpox. One of my favorite things about the rival savotage mission is that if you ever want to fight more rival tech stuff you can always just look for that mission. It helps to keep the old content still relevant and I really dont want to see Rockpox just vanish with Season 5 other than the occasional contagion spike warning...
@carljohan9265

Make it so that you have to track down and destroy 2 fully grown contagion spikes by calling down an industrial cleaner pod, set up a pipe from it to the spike and activate it to have it pump the spike full of cleansing chemicals while defending the pod. Then after both are destroyed you can crack open the core spike in the boss room and it releases a rock pox dreadnaught, and whenever you take a 3rd of it's health of it changes phase and the central spike releases something to help it, randomizing it from 3 different choices. Those being "release a cluster of rock pox spitters", "release several rock pox goo bombers", or "extend arms that throws out rock pox exploders that start to detonate when they impact"😉

5:25 I think another enemy worth mentioning here is the acid spitter. when I first started playing this game on haz5 I thought these things were so overpowered, because they can absolutely wreck your health bar in one shot and they like to hide out high on the ceiling and pelt you from above. but after getting more experience in the game, I learned to deal with them, and I no longer feel like they're "op," just an enemy that you have to really look out for. I think this is a similar situation for the new enemies, people just need time to adapt. also if I'm not mistaken, season 2 had about the same amount of content, just without new weapons. that's why I'm kinda holding off until next season before worrying about lack of content. yeah, it takes a while, but unfortunately I think that's a price to pay for a developer that actually cares about its playerbase and actively avoids "horrible but effective" monetization practices. I think it's good they DIDN'T add new weapons because the game's pretty balanced right now (imo). adding more weapons will just introduce the "quantity vs quality" problem and make balancing more difficult, not to mention the increased workload on new frameworks/overclocks (as mentioned). I wanna see a shift in focus to new mission types and biomes or something, rather than 4 new guns. btw this vid is about 1/3 dislikes, which is a little surprising to me, maybe the "get good" comments were a little harsh but overall the video's fine.

I'll preface by saying that while I do agree Steam review system is stupid (binary reviews leave no place for nuance), belittling people for disagreeing with your views is... questionable at best, and downright malicious at worst. Anyway... Your reasonning that because the game is free, players with playtimes in the thousands cannot leave a negative review is flawed. First because no game is perfect, whether it's free or not, and second because it's precisely these people who have, in my opinion, the most objective view on the matter. Because, during that time, they saw the game change and evolve, they've been there long enough to see the paint peeling off and notice the underlying issues that have yet to be fixed, even though they alerted the devs about them. The players you mentioned aren't leaving negative reviews because of season 4 exclusively, but because of a general state of weariness, in the face of GSG developers' ignorance of the problems brought to their attention. Onto the "lack of new content" now. While I'd be tempted to agree, I'm also aware that Season 1 might have set the bar a tad too high for expectations, with new weapons, new enemies and an entirely new mission. And, to be honest, I don't expect future seasons to have as much content any time soon. I think the devs are perfectly able to make new weapons/tools that'd feel different and fun enough to have a distinct identity, but them not doing so isn't the reason behind the complaints (not to mention they have said multiple times on stream that they wouldn't add new weapons before a long time). The two new enemies are great, although I do wish GSG stuck to their guns a little more and didn't nerf them to the ground (fixing the occasional warping abilities of Stingtail would've been enough). But, I can't possibly fathom it took GSG so long to develop them. Same goes for Harold, whose AI is basically a Huuli hoarder with diarhea (it also has other issues I'll mention later when I get to the subject of Rockpox) and the new rockpox enemies, who are just color swapped variants with boosted stats. As for weapons changes, everything took place during the two weeks of Experimental Branch preceding the release of S4. And Jet boots are a remnant of old code, easily reworked. At most, it probably would've taken roughly 4 months for them to produce the entirety of S4 content. So yes, one reason people are complaining is because what we got in S4 is definitely lacking, considering it took 8 months to release. Another reason people are disappointed with S4 is because it reiterates something that already sparked conflict before, namely forcing concepts and game mechanics upon players. Season 2 was more robots, Season 4 is more rockpox. And while it sounds good in concept, the execution leaves much to be desired. While you could ignore most if not all seasonal objectives in S3, rockpox swarms and corruptors are now part of all missions, making an already tedious task of dealing with said enemies even more of a hassle, on top of shutting down all player agency in how they want to play the game (since only a few select weapons are able to deal with rockpox bugs efficiently, it restricts your build choice as a result). As a matter of fact, it's not just the lack of content that's frustrating, but rather how what we got was handled, AND knowing they had time to address long standing issues and yet opted against it, for some unknown reason. What's frustrating is having to put up with lag, crashes, freezes and other issues that have been piling up steadily over the past years or more. Most veterans don't want more content, they want more of what we already have: a polished core gameplay, free of software errors. And as to bugs being hard to find, again there are people in the community who dedicated their entire playtime to finding, recording and reporting them, for free. And yet none of the devs at GSG seems to acknowledge these people. So, again, people are not leaving negative reviews on DRG's steam page just because "they're disappointed with Season 4", they're leaving negative reviews because they're disappointed with the devs handling of the game as of the last 2 years. I am That Goddamn Scout™, I have 2403.8 hours of playtime on DRG. And while I love the game, I'm concerned about its future, especially if GSG continues to ignore those who have supported them from the start...

Stingtail even got nerfed, only being able to grab you from 10 meters away. Before it was.... scarier. And septic spreader is so easy to take care of. POP POP and boom, thing is super weak. Players simply have to just adapt and learn to survive. Learn the movement, learn your weapons. Find ways to obliterate weakpoints with an epic shot. These bugs are here to offer simple diversity, and the leaf lovers that complain are not ones who learn, let alone change their playstyle or mindset. It's about having fun, surviving together, drinking beer and working together. Don't try to fix something that ain't broke. Stick to it, lads.

My issue with the stingtail is that gameplay wise, it doesnt fell like a DRG enemy. With every other enemy, armor breaking is optional. Youre rewarded for being able to position yourself onto an enemy weak point. However, stingtail's weakpoint is completely inaccessible if you dont break its armor. Imagine if a praetorian had armor on its ass. The only other enemy i can think of that does this is the brundle, and its armor breaks very quickly, and its also kinda rare and low-priority, plus its armor is very brittle. The tail grab feels overtuned as well. The stingtail can cast out the grab much faster than other distruptors, and has a much higher success rate with it. And unlike other disruptive moves, your teammates cant help you. The grabber is much more well-designed because it encourages teamwork and its attack is much more telagraphed. It and the cave leech punished you for being unaware of your surroundings and staying away from your team. The stingtail punishes you for having a good position. This isnt inherently a bad role to have. The trawler and shellbacks are punish you for holding the same postion, but theyre balanced well because they put themselves at risk to do so. The stingtail is completely safe when it grabs you, and you cant deal with it most of the time because of the other enemies around it. You cant kill it when it pulls you in because youre already busy running for your life from whatever it pulled you towards. The fact that it has heavy armor and no weakpoint is absurd. You also dont get enough of a warning before you get grabbed. Theres a quiet, generic, angry noise and then you get grabbed less than a second later. Its the same reason why people dont like the cave leech. You dont get a warning. And unlike the cave leech, you cant circumvent it with perks. The grab should be slower, the stingtail's armor should be medium, and there should be a weakpoint on it's tail, kinda like the stabber vines. The tail could maybe work like the smoker from left 4 dead. The pull would be slower with more counterplay, but more consequential if you mess up and get grabbed. These changes would make the stingtail more fair to fight and be more in line with other threats in the game

People who complain typically don't desire content like weapons or huge work-heavy stuff, really the reason people (from what I've seen) are so mad, is because with the time they have taken, something major in ANY way, should have been implemented, this major is subjective however, and can be seen in many different ways. I for one, saw the amount of content and was disappointed, although I still had hope for more. Anything at all could've been added, 1 or 2 new overclocks for each weapon, overhauling the perk system, nothing HUGE like weapons or biomes, but they just did... nothing? Harold is cute and all, randoweiser is goofy and 2 enemies is nice, but any time spent reskinning existing enemies to be Rockpox variants or adding flappy bird could've been used to update the perk system, or add overclocks, things the community have been requesting for AGES. Though everything is free so I guess my argument will probably be invalid to most people.

"QUIT COMPLAINING!" are you my mom? I paid for this product and i have the right to complain, so that the devs understand and fix the issues in the game. aside from that, the only problem i have from the update is that the stingtail is too tanky. if getting focus fired by 3 people like 7:08 in your video is fine for an unreliable distruptor that sometimes pulls you from across the cave even though he's not supposed to, and deals MORE DAMAGE than a slasher (also straight-up one shotting by throwing you off a ledge), at least make their spawns more reliable so i dont have missions where i dont see a single one and have another one where theres 20 of them throwing me around like a bowling ball. the other one makes the game more interesting and is easily killable, jet boots are fine honestly, and the new enemy is kinda too weak and doesnt do anything unless its in a really tight cave where you cant dodge its weird attack, often times we either wipe trying to kill it or kill it so fast i dont understant what happened lol.

Stingtails and septic spreaders are both relatively easy to set on fire, and the temp shock from the wavecooker does a good amount of damage. It's also good for ignoring a lot of the armor the enemies come with. That's my solution for dealing with them, specific to the driller class. Satchels also work in case of emergency.

Season 4 sucks because rockpox sucks. It's annoying to deal with, breaks the flow of the game, and just generally doesn't feel like DRG. I don't play to be a space janitor. I don't play to be constantly frozen 2.0 (can't move AND take damage). It's just shit, and doubling down and making it even more annoying for season 4 is almost as funny as it is annoying. In saying that, I still think DRG is the best game I've probably ever played and I wouldn't ever "not recommend" it. I do recommend it, always. The things I mentioned don't ruin the game, they just make it worse. They should lean into what people actually like about the game (I know, shocking). Add new mission types. New overclocks. Better cosmetics customisation. I don't think new weapons should be added unless they bring something truly different to the game. I much, much, much prefer having a small number of weapons that always see use and can be configured in many different ways, than having 500 weapon that feels mostly the same, of which only 2 are considered "meta". Maybe even figure out a way to add new attachments similar to overclocks that add further nuance to existing weapons. In regards to review bombing the game, I'm not gonna tell people what to do. If they feel it's necessary, that's on them but I won't be joining them. If people are unhappy with the update and seemingly the direction that their favourite game is moving in, they should speak up instead of blinding fellating the devs as if they can do no wrong.

Saying that theres no reason to leave a negative review on a game youve spent hundreds of hours on seems very ignorant to me. While it might not apply in this case, many life service games change so heavily over their livespan that they can very well end up as completely different games, and what may have made them enjoyable in the past may no longer exist or be accessible. In the case of competitive games this can get even worse when feature creep makes old strategies either inferior or completely obsolete. Again, this doesnt apply to DRG, im just making a point that theres good reasons people can give games they used to love bad reviews.

In my opinion Septic Spreader is balanced by being glow-in-the-dark orange. Because of that colouring you can see it from far enough away and either deal with it or just shoot it. Scout can deal with it by either throwing any grenade and shooting it or aggroing it and moving it away from the rest of the team (and then shooting it). Engie has the Ka-boom and Loki for a good kill and pancakes to erect a roof over the objective as you've described it in this vid. Gunner has the Bulldog which stuns or if you're a good thrower you can use the sticky nade to make it fear. I think shield works as well? Driller can either build a Bunkie, freeze it with the Cryo Cannon or if you have the It Burns! mod for flamethrower just light it up.

Regarding players with high hours leaving negative reviews: Reviews are the front-facing metric for how people feel about a game, people dont tend to jump to the Steam Discussions page. These negative reviews are the only way for those players to put their grievances forwards. Ive seen people with thousands of hours in games give them a nmegative review, because those players are genuinely disappointed with the new changes or updates. Its pretty much the only barometer we have for seeing how live-service games are reflected over time. Also your understanding of the review system is maybe a little limited; by all means you can enjoy and play a game but feel it shouldn't be recommended to others.

So far: My microwave gun stopped shooting for no reason, but would still waste ammo. Stingtail launched me at MK5 speed and instakilled me on impact with a ground at least two times. Copying cosmetic loadouts copied my weapon builds as well. Dorreta went from a second refulling stop all the way to the start of the level, and then to the core, making one LONG trip. Half of my builds were scrambled, had wrong weapons/talents selected, or outright deleted. I've been playing since beta, and I can't recall update that would've been worse in terms of quality. That's extra buffling, concidering that this update was rather light on content.

I suppose you do not exactly understand the issue there, which is completely fine, yet if an update takes this long to make, and it comes out so lackluster, it shows that either the developers can't do the satisfactory amount of content (which, you know, you can hire more people to do so), or they do not care. Negative reviews are the feedback that you need to rely on to see what is wrong with your game. Sure, some people do not include arguments, or do not bother to get constructive, yet if S4 is the trend that the game sets for itself, it's a pretty grim future for DRG. The vibe I'm getting from this video and your comments is that you personally don't care weither or not the updates are good and if they're worth the wait times. The whole "I'm okay with them making changes, good or bad" mindset is NOT healthy if you want the game you love and enjoy to grow, or hell even for your own enjoyment of the game. Weither you want to admit it or not, DRG is on a downwards spiral in terms of both update frequency and their quality. Before seasons were rolled out, updates were added into the game right after they were finished. Updates were also alot more frequent and things that needed to be tweaked would be patched out quickly, with some exceptions *cough* gk2. Nowadays though, if we want any meaningful changes to something we'll have to wait 6-7 months just for the subata to finally get some updates to be slightly better than it was before. Or some changes to overclocks that could've been added in during season 3's lifespan in a quick hotfix. My point being that the pacing of modern updates feels sluggish and the content within them aren't worth the wait. The 2 new bugs are cool and I really enjoy the new challenge they bring to the game and jetboots are awesome to use both for traversal and combat, but those are probably the biggest additions season 4 has to offer since they can spawn on any mission type and modifier, but otherwise we have a mini boss which is also cool but locked to 1 modifier and depentant on rng to even see, rockpox rekins of enemies that all make clouds (not fun), again, weapon/overclock reworks that could've been added in a hotfix, and another performance pass to bloat up the cargo crates even more. All of these when you divide them are minor additions to the game, and we have to make them last for the next 6-7 months???

@robertfletcher1871 Год назад
Sorry for the wall of text, but I wanted to put my own thoughts down as well since I've played for over 900 hours. I'm enjoying the subata rework, and from what I've heard everyone enjoys the reworked overclocks, mainly because the old versions sucked. I think the addition of jet boots was actually implemented pretty well. They're powerful, yeah, but they're a RANDOM EVENT. Back in the experimental build, I used to prioritize finding jet boots over everything else SO MUCH that my brain developed a trigger specifically for whenever I think I hear the crate ping, and I got agitated whenever someone forgot about the cheat terminal. The stingtail and septic spreader are only overpowered because they're new, and I've already found a counter for each: sludge pump for melting stingtail armor, and weakpoint bonus upgrades for the septic spreader. Harold CAN be a pain in the butt if not handled properly. Once more people realize the patches of infection he throws out can be foamed and vacuumed, something I discovered by putting two and two together using the knowledge I gained from last season, then maybe people will change their minds. I don't need to say anything regarding the reviewer harassment. And for those complaining about the lack of new content: I've played driller EXCLUSIVELY. Literally and without exaggeration, the only time I played another class in my 900 hours of playing was in the TUTORIAL, and the game is still as enjoyable as it was when I first started playing. The biggest complaints I have about the new enemies is that they're badly designed, both from a gameplay balance and fun perspective - there's really no other way to put it. Septic spreaders genuinely shouldn't have been added, at least not in nearly the form they have right now - long-range, fast-firing, powerful, and incredibly annoying area denial with harder-to-hit weak spots (being on the sides, and the bug usually facing you) just doesn't ever make for a fun enemy design. Yes, they may be decently easy to counter with the right strategies, but they upset the balance of the rest of play, and are literally never fun to encounter. If you've ever played Risk of Rain 2, you'll recognize the Hermit Crabs as a similarly annoying and overly dangerous enemy. Stingtails are also badly designed, being that they're annoying to kill (hard to pick out/see, and unclear weak points), and provide easily the least fun video game mechanic ever to be invented: player stuns. This is made much worse by the fact that roughly 80% of the time you get grabbed, there's quite literally no way to see it coming. Additionally, because they have a tendency to climb around on the walls and ceilings, the fall damage inflicted from being grabbed or flung is often a guaranteed down or near-down for newer players, and still a big risk for experienced players (sometimes even a guaranteed down depending on cave generation). Again, decently easy to counter once you've played around them enough, but still just a generally boring, annoying, and moderately overpowered enemy that just feels unfair to encounter. The biggest issue with the design of many gameplay changes introduced in the newest update is that they're just flat-out _unfun,_ and they drive newer players away - I myself started playing right after season 4 started, and nearly dropped the game because of some of the things introduced in S4. Even after getting enough experience and gear to make the game quite playable and fun most of the time, I still strongly despise most elements of season 4.

Season 4 is a bit disappointing, but it’s really not that bad, given that it’s free and the small amount of new content is extremely high quality. My personal issue isn’t the lack of content, but actually just how rare the new content is. I’ve played about 14 hours of the new season so far, and I’ve seen both of the new glyphids only a few times, only two of the new rockpox enemies, neither of which are the corrupter, and one singular jet boot. I think if they just upped the spawn rate of this stuff for a while, it would make the season significantly better overall.

The points you advance don't invalidate the fact that the season is lackluster in terms of content. Leaving a negative review for this is indeed absolutely ridiculous, and I must say I love the content that was added in season 4, all the enemies added are fun and interresting and the boots are a cool mechanic. But for a game that has accustomed us to a consistent flow of content through its past seasons or updates, this is still extremely disappointing. There are ways to add a good amount of content without going for full new weapons (and still, they had 7 month to work on it), like new overclocks, a new mission type, new warnings...

Sitting pretty at 500 hours. Joined back at the very start of Season 1. I've yet to play with randoms in this season, but I don't think it will be all that different from the previous season. So far, I've been having a lot of fun, playing with my brother and a friend. The new enemies do indeed demand us to be more aware, but only if they are present. The Spreader is not a massive threat to us, as it's mostly come at us without major backup, making it an easy target. The Stingtail on the other hand, has been a downright menace, sometimes :) From seperating our team, to at one point fling a player 120 meters across a room somehow, it's certainly been an experience. We're not saying "Ermahgerd, (Name) is overpowered, and needs to be nerfed" Mostly, we just want the Stingtail to be more consistent, and not randomly instadown my Engineer friend, as it's done 3 times now :) And then Harold, or the Curropter. I had my first encounter with one just yesterday. We had found a Bet-C earlier that mission, and it was an "Elimination" BET-C waddled into the room with Harold, shot a grenade at him, and cracked the Dreadnaught cocoon next to it. Also, a meteor shower spawned a mintute later. Somehow, we came out on top. Dwarven Fortitude, or something. Then, the very next room, with another cocoon, and also a Korlok weed, BET-C also decided to crack that one. So far, I am giving Season 4 a 8,5/10. Could be higher, but the Stingtail incidents are dragging it down a half point :) No way I am giving it a lower score. They never took away any content, everything is still there. Why would I give it, say, a 3? Rock & Stone, fellow miners

Yeah ok so in your mind they can make the worst decisions in terms of new content (or in that case the lack of it) and god forbid we say anything negative. The only thing I like in s4 are cosmetics from performance pass - they're really cool. When it comes to gameplay, nothing really changed for me or in some cases it changed for the worse

I'm not going to be a Leaf Lover and complain about the lack of contents. For GSG and to roll out free updates for 5 years while also working as a publisher is nothing short of a Herculean feat so having less content compared to previous seasons is understandable. I like Harold, I like the Jet boots, the updated Overclocks are an absolute game-changer, the Spreader is my favourite bug in the game..............but the execution is what I would call disappointing, especially in Solo play. While I welcome the difficulty spike in multiplayer (I might find it too easy sometimes even on Haz 5), solo is a miserable experience on Haz 4 and above with constant horde spam to the point where all 3 of the Grunt variants would clip into each other simply because there's so many of them. It just feels like they've taken a Quantity Over Quality approach with Solo. The Septic Spreader, though advertised as an artillery unit, acts like grandpa in a shopping mall. That thing is clueless 90% of the time and some dwarf would dome it before it could even strike like another canon-fodder enemy, instead of striking in 4-5 bug formation from afar to lay on the pressure. I know some people would try to "counter" this argument with the Spitter from L4D2 and I'll gladly rebuke that comparison. The Spitter's attack is almost instantaneous, so even if it's slain quickly, there's a high chance that its attack is already coming your way, forcing your team to scatter out of self-preservation. The Spreader takes the heat-death of the universe to start launching something so poor thing is closer to reaching the Shadow Realm than being a threat. Harold, while rewarding to kill, is mind-numbingly boring to chase without the Jet boots (especially in Solo). Plus the fact that both of them were advertised together as a singular "big boy" unit of the season only to become separated and randomized events can sometimes feel like I'm being falsely advertised, and I'm sure many feel the same. But ultimately, I have faith in GSG gradually addressing these issues over the course of S4, maybe spawn Harold and the Jet boots together more frequently because that combination is really fun to tackle, maybe the Septic Spreader will soon become a long range artillery unit that can strike even without direct line of sight,....maybe this, maybe that. I don't care if people perceive this as "entitled" or not, I have my opinions and I'll share it. I've spent over 1000 hours in DRG and I want to spend more.

I generally agree with you on this. Season four didn't "ruin the game" it was just a smaller update than usual. The only parts of this update that I disliked is that if you get lucky enough, you can experience all of the new content in one to two missions, and that we did *not* need another random event that'll give nothing but XP when the season is over. It was a good quality of life update, but should have either come out sooner or had more content. In fact, my friends and I have been theorizing as to why this update is so small. Maybe something happened at Ghostship that caused delays and other headaches, or they pivoted from an initial (possibly more ambitious) plan that could have been too large, so they put in the stuff they finished and slapped some season 3 theming on it, or next update will be significantly larger than average. I trust Ghostship, because they understand their community and try to make their games as good as they could be, and I hope this is just a brief stumble.

It isint that the newly added content is bad, just that with the popularity of the game. What we got in S4 was very little. I agree that stingtails are annoying and could either use a move visible weakpoint or maybe a longer cd on the tail. Still think the septic spitter spawns should be lowered during salvage operations. Their shots are arched so at times it is nearly impossible to complete the salvage operation point hold because septic spitters keep shooting from cover and you have to keep leaving the point to kill them, and when you get back the point its already overrun with bugs. Mean while the point hold has gone back to under 40% when you left it at 80%.

Whether you read my last comment and completely misunderstood it or I forgot something or you just missed it, I still think you are wrong in some places. In any case, you should read my comment under the previous video if you haven't. 1. 0:01 and 0:20 are you fucking kidding me. The person that got bullied because of your video is the first thing I see in this video along their negative review. Great job, feels like this is intentional, I hope it's not and you have at least some decency Edit: you said you fixed it, hope you did. 2. I and others left a negative review not only because of season 4. These negative reviews have been there for a long time. That's because the game has been falling off for a while. And I wish that was just an update with free content, but the glitches and other awful features just unavoidably make the game worse. I don't complain about free content, I complain because I wish this content was not in the game in the first place or was better. The game was in it's best state during U33. Actually, I think overall season 4 is one of the best updates yet in terms of quality of conent. I love the new bugs and the new difficulty increase. I only wish stingtail had a better sound indication. 3. It's great that the corruptor is not bound by any awful mission types. But you know what should've recieved it's own mission type? The rocket boots. I have no idea what the fuck these things are for, they feel so random and serve no purpose. We never really needed them, they are just a random fun feature. Now, for example, imagine if we had a mission type that actually requiered rocket boots? A generation that feels unpassable, yet you have just to correct tool. So rocket boots in their current state are just... I don't even know what they are. There could've been done so much more with them for sure. 4. Asking for a whole new set of weapons every season is just unreasonable, of course. And I think the game doesn't need new weapons, just fix the old ones so they feel new and on par with the current ones. The game has VERY SERIOUS powercreep. And it's not like there aren't features that lack something. Perk system is super outdated and could've been easily updated. So many more balance changes can be made and better. As I already said, most of the balance changes were made in 2 WEEKS BEFORE RELEASE. They just slapped a rendom x2 buff on TEF instead of actually thinking for a little. It's honestly not that difficult to make simple number tweaks, the veteran community already figured it all out with math and A FUCK TON OF TESTING AND EXPERIENCE. So the only thing we got in terms of weapons are subata and pbm. Double barrel is a simple number tweak with a boomstick specific fix for fire delay. 5. About glitches. With your example of terrain laucnhing you across the map. I think you are correct for the most part. However. ONE PROBLEM. THIS BUG HAVE NOT EXISTED BEFORE. I don't care if season adds new conent and it requires some bug fixing. The problem is when the stuff that was always working CORRECTLY just BREAKS with nothing in patch notes about it. AND THEN IT NEVER GETS FIXED. Oh yea, you remember how you could rock and stone while building stuff? Yea, a small bug, really nothing major, sad that it got fixed, but no big deal. The big deal THAT THE FIX COMPLETELY BROKE WEAPON SWITCHING. And it's still broken to an extent. Oh yea, you said that you should use armor break against sting tail, good idea. BUT ONLY IF IT ACTUALLY WORKS. Armor Break completely doesnt work on a couple of weapons, just a useless mod, on AoE it's apparently fixed and it's so fixed that armor break on any AOE weapon is just absolutely useless. It used to work and was kinda useful sometime in the past. And all weapon's armor break used to work. Season 4 also broke bloom on all weapons. It now just very consistenly doesn't work properly. And there are many many many more bugs to discuss that are never fixed or/and never existed before.

I was honestly hoping for some new loadout feature in the Season 4 that wasn't just Randoweizer. They did Primary, Secondary, Grenades, and I was thinking that maybe they might do new pickaxe mods, or even better, a new utility for each that matches the playstyle of the class but is different enough to make it more fun? That would have been pretty cool. I honestly really wish at some point we could at least customize our traversal and utility tools. Driller's drills always have to be yellow and they all have the same models. No Fourth Relic, Custom Engineered, Dark Future, nothing? I'd at least like to color them... They need a bit more love. I think that's part of how it feels a bit more disappointing? I just kinda expected a new thing with loadouts since they had that rhythm going, but suddenly stopped.

Leaving a negative review for S4 might seem as too much but the actual concerns I heard was that the game was falling down to maintenance mode. I don't mind the developers pausing but let's be real a seson every 7 months is not being worked on 23/7. And they left thumbs down because they saw the more content fading away. So I say I d-i-s-a-g-r-e-e Season 4 is in at least some objective manner the worst season we got so far -Only 2 new enemies. They do have new polished models but that isn't enough of an excuse. I agree they aren't broken, I had my fair share with the stingtail but that was also just skill issue But they could come up with more, just modify existing models if that's the problem, 2 enemies are a big dissapointment for a highlight. We did get the new rockpox variant but they just spread lithopage and have more health. As much as I like the new design, in majority we should have had them in S3 already. -I didn't demand new primaries or secondaries but to completely ditch the new equipment part of a season... What about perks? people have been begging for that, surely making some new perks is easier than new weapons. Or utility tools? Not new ones but putting a new upgrade tier would be enough, GSG devs proved they are creative, they can be again -Overall you can say something has not enough content when everyone talks about a BEER(randoweiser) more than the actual content

@Vanguard7274
@Vanguard7274 Год назад
A few things here - the point about taking armor break just for stingtails could work, but it doesn’t seem like great design to have to build specifically to deal with one enemy, as armor break isn’t usually used super often. Additionally, many of the armor break mods are bugged, and the some of the ones that aren’t (looking at you warthog) work in such a way to make them far less effective than their alternatives. Pretty sure lazymaybe discusses it in one his videos if you’re curious As for stingtails making it impossible to get revives, I know they should be focused as soon as you see them, but it really sucks when you get pulled off a teammate or resupply when using iron will cause one of these showed up when no one was alive to kill it. The other grabbing enemies do feel more balanced. Leeches are stationary and low hp, so you can quickly get rid of them, grabbers give you tons of warning, fly above other enemies with a glowing weakpoint, are relatively slow, and can be fended off for a long time by a few hits, and while this isn’t a great counterpoint, trawlers are rare and grab you infrequently enough (they just surf around most of the time lol) that they’re not much of an issue. As for the comparison to bulks and septic spreaders, while bulks are kinda overpowered, their rarity makes up for it. I’ll see 10-20 septic spreaders in a mission that has them in the spawn pool, but you usually only see one or two bulks. You can leave the uplink zone or put down a bubble shield to get away from a bulk for 15 seconds, you can’t do that for every spreader though. It’s the fact that the spreaders do what they do along with the fact that there’s so many of them that’s an issue. If there were like 3 spreaders in a mission, no biggie. But when a new one shows up every 30 seconds it starts to frustrate people. I personally don’t mind them too much, but they reaaally punish you for not having good coordination, which can be an issue in some public lobbies. While I’ve been getting better at focusing these enemies, and technique, practice, and skill certainly help, it would be nice if stingtails were more visible for instance to help you see what you need to focus down. Spreaders are well-designed in that aspect, you can immediately see them snd deal with them, but the stingtails have a habit of hiding in a crowd or on the ceiling and just throwing you around while you get attacked by other bugs. It’s hard to focus on something that you can’t see. Point being, the new enemies are manageable, but it’d be nice if a few things could be changed to make stingtails easier to focus at least. Spreaders do feel okay to fight, although I can definitely see why people don’t love them, cause they really hurt if you don’t kill them fast. R&S! ⛏️ Edit - meant to mention this in the stingtail section, but a cooldown reduction on the grab would be a solid balance option too. One grab isn’t bad, but getting grabbed every 2-3 seconds while trying to focus them is rough. A 5-10 second cooldown could help them be an interesting challenge that rewards you for stopping/dodging the grab, rather than a speedy cave leech on legs that doesn’t stop til it’s dead.

First of all this video here if you have the time basically shows everything flawed with season 4, I highly suggest watching it if you have time to spare: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bhG1Ti9RujQ.html To go over that video: 1- New rockpox enemies are not well made at all. At the start of season 3 you were supposed to be close to the enemies because of the random blisters, this was great because most of the time you would want to stay away from enemies so it posed an interesting challenge that was engaging but players learned that the drills were incredibly op against rockpox enemies so what did gsg do? They made roxkpox enemies fill up your infection meter if you are near it when it dies. What is the problem with this? Well now you don't want to stay in close range because you are gonna get infected but you don't want to stay in long range because you can't kill them. This was... fine, it worked because you could move around grunts and pretorains but with season 4 the new enemies are even HARDER to kill. The goo bomber has little blisters that can't be shot easily when they are flying on top of you. The spitters are basically snipers that are incredibly hard to kill because of the long range they stay in. exc. 2- Stingtail is op because, and im going to copy this from a post: "They don't have any weaknesses. They have a lot of health so it is big and slow? No it is fast and small. It hits very hard so it doesn't attack very often? No it attacks often, very often non stop. Ok so it has a clear weakpoint so we can take care of this enemy that can wipe our team and this argument is supported by the fact their sound is so recognizable so the entire team can focus on it? FUCK YOU it is under really though armour." 3- Septic spreaders are... well they are very well balanced but I wanted to point out just platforming on top of the goo doesn't work. I honestly don't have anything against harold other than having to switch between using the foam and shooting, it gets a bit annoying but you don't see harold a lot anyways. It is important we show this feedback to gsg because games die this way. If everyone pretends all is fine it will get worse and worse. What seems like a small problem now is going to build up until it reaches a breaking point.

I can see why there are complaints about Season 4 but I feel they are placing a lot of emphasis on the ‘amount’ of content. Just because its free means you can't complain is such an weird argument its insane? Like i don't know how to explain this other than without complaints the game will never change for the better? People are aloud to review a game badly due to lack of content. Also, the whole skill issue thing, while i agree with what you said in that section about most things but some things are just annoying, and should be changed, challenges should be fun and not really annoying, but that more goes for old stuff and not the new stuff, but my main problem is the way you go about critism dismissively, instead of trying to actually converse and debate, or at least thats the vibe you gave off. And thats coming from me who loves the new season. Anyway keep on rocking and stoning

In my honest opinion this season is actually my favourite so far. The new boss is hella fun to fight and the Jett boots aren't my favourite thing in the world, I think they're a good time when you finally get them in the mission. I think what makes the season for me are the new enemies because from my person experience it has changed the way I have played the game. Just the small addition of 1 or 2 enemies can have so much impact on your mission. Just because there's not a brand new mission or no new weapons doesn't mean "Oh this game is so bad now I must tell everyone how awful this game is", the people who write bad reviews for one update need to grow some testicles 😂

Agreeing with what sniss says, I think they should hold the phone for a moment and actually start implementing changes that will be visible to the player. What I mean by that? They've added a new mini boss this patch, which I rarely I see, I've played 9 games and haven't seen that boss yet. For me, this update is just couple of new bugs, which are cool but some of them also don't appear in some games, rockpox spreading more but again missing in some games and jet boots which are once again missing in some games. Safe to say that, it's not something you got worth for 7 months of waiting. New biomes, missions and weapons, hell even perks and overclocks are more.... there. You see them. You feel their presence. They are new. That's my frustration with this season. The fact that it's been 2.5 years since we got a new biome in a game where the map is so important is kind of sad. But I wouldn't leave negative review. Deep Rock still is my favourite game on steam and will always be.

Spoiled people who are used to a new weapon every season. I'm loving the new enemies as they spice up every single mission and biome. Both of which have no impact if you don't play them specifically. I hope they add more or frankly focus on balancing but the game is complete. I am curious how they will manage it in its later "maintenance phase"

@@warriorfire8103 GSG is definitely one of the best dev teams out there, people just don't appreciate the work they put in honestly. The game is PERFECTLY balanced, it's fun and absolutely never gets boring

My feeling of the game after the update hasn't changed: my mentality is to just get the skins from the ppas and probably stop playing. The new enemies fit in so well, got used to them and in the end my way of playing hasn't changed a lot. I just focus those red spitters/stingtails like I would with any other high prio target and they're dead, they're not unbalanced at all idk what people are talking about. It's just that rockpox is still as annoying as last season, and they did nothing to make it less annoying. I find it annoying to have to constantly tediously switch between the cleaning simulator guns and my regular guns so I don't die. Like it isn't hard, it's just tedious and doesn't feel right. Same with getting the stun that you have to mash A-D for, just tedious/annoying and doesn't improve gameplay in any way imo. I mean it says a lot that people find rockpox even more annoying than the old robots, which I also hold that opinion.

@@MsGrizzly I mean, you have a point with the rockpox but i think it has been implemented decently enough considering that you either play with 3 more players who help you or with bosco who can vacuum the rockpox. I mostly play the game as a stress relief, its probably the best swarm game out there, very fun to get overrun by bugs in some tight cave
