1:04 It seems to me that somewhere at this point he no longer regarded the slugcat as a threat. there, he picked up the spears and the stone and just started sitting and scratching the ground until you stole the spear from his back. that is, over time he realized that you are not an enemy. this happened either because you did not attack, or because you yourself gave him spears and he regarded it as a gift. I'm still sometimes surprised by the AI in this game. and no, you shouldn’t consider this particular scavenger stupid, he apparently just has a vision problem, which is why he has trouble aiming. he definitely needs to buy glasses)))
yeah after I gifted him the spears so he could try again I think he saw me as an ally, which was why I tried to act more aggressive, although I guess that came back to bite me later lol
It appears that this scavenger has (edit)sympathetic personality, those are more common to do warning throws as a sign to slugcat to stand back, when they don't feel safe near the player, especially when you carry a weapon with you, this is why it killed you immediately when you picked up a spear while you were near it from its back, they don't appreciate you stealing spears from their hands/backs, despite you giving them back, reputation and trust with goes more lower when you steal than it rises when you give items
One slight correction: stealing CAN benefit you... under very specific circumstances. If you steal pearls from scavenger tolls or treasuries and try to give them back, no it won't help much. ... unless you do it while NO-ONE IS THERE TO WITNESS YOU... If no scavs are around when you pilfer their pearls, you'll only lose a BIT of rep, and you can bring the pearls back later to gain more rep than you lost!
This is why befriended scavengers are annoying. Ever get trapped in tunnels with them or in a shelter? Omg. Once I spent half of a cycle trying to escape from the shelter with scavenger's blocking the exit and more kept coming in and out... Then the tunnel that lead up to the den was still full of them! And when you wake up and try to pick up YOUR things, it's like a 90% chance that you pick up a scavenger's back spear. And since you're friends, they chase you around the map all of the time. The only time it's worth it is when you take a spear from one to rescue another. Do you know if the reward for helping is higher than the penalty? Also, there's no end to their shenanigans. You know how many times I've been manslaughtered by a scavenger who was trying to hit the yellow worm friend? Too many. Also if you die with a karma plant and the scavs get to it first, they'll take it. Fortunately if the scavenger who stole from you sleeps in the den with you, it'll absorb... Also I've been saved by the tribe when grabbed by a vulture once, but several times I watched a lizard drag me across the entire map which is full of scavengers (note, I had the Chieftain and this was garbage wastes where they were EVERYWHERE) and they just let it happen! Then once I'm dead for real they decided to come to avenge me.
I think those are warning shots. A scavenger with high stats in certain personalities will be more likely to fire off warning shots before actually trying to kill you. This is backed up by the fact that he instantly killed you after you stole from him, as he was provoked by that point.
@@ikcikor3670 I think they dont used explosives as warning shots as often as normal ones. But high symapthy scavs will use each item for the warning shots
I often forget how much I love scavs And yeah I agree with the other comment, these are pretty much warning shots. The spears flew high above your head and it was intended. Its still weird how there were so many shots though xD But maybe they can do them for any amount of time, im not sure
@@cellularbiomass9868 yeah scavs are programmed to do a lot of different stuff and gestures. Their wiki page is crazy. They are such cool creatures but sadly in the game itself (except arena) you mostly can't just sit and observe them as there is danger all around
They were consistently throwing spears a safe distance above the slugcat rather than directly at it because they were trying to warn it. They weren't trying to kill you, they were just throwing multiple warning shots because they were scared Edit: i love the goofy music though :)
both based on appearance (big eyes, pupils, small antlers), and what its doing, this is a very patient, passive scavenger. its repeatedly firing warning shots to try and scare you off, and only decided you were worth actually killing once you stole directly from it
I think what it is, is that until the end it wasn't trying to kill you. Scavengers that are less aggressive won't try to kill you on sight, but will intentionally miss you in order to scare you off, but once you stole the spear and threw one in his direction, he saw you as a threat to eliminate
i think the all shots he misses was just warning shots maybe you popularity (i forgot the word) dont was low enough to go kill imediataly using artificer maybe could test better someone will die reading my inglish
I'm not sure if those were shots with intent to kill or warning shots, since the anatomy of the scavenger seems to be more passive than aggressive (big eyes and short ears (or whatever those things are on its head)).
He's missing on purpose, he doesn't try to kill the slugcat but he's just trying to scare him off by throwing things at him. It happens a lot with scared friendly scavengers.
I think those initial throws were meant to be warning throws. The scav missed intentionally until you proved yourself a threat by taking one of its spears, which lowered your reputation and angered the scav Edit: it appears this information has already been shared and noticed
Most of the spear throws weren't aimed at slugcat and probably meant to intimidate, but not kill. Scavengers do that when they aren't sure if Slugcat is a threat.
Look, she was never taught how to fight and never wanted to, she just wanted to be a metropolis resident when a slugcat suddenly teleports her to hell and makes her have to fight.
I did some testing with scavs to see if they could beat lizards (3 scavs vs 1 lizard) and 2 of them constantly missed, so yah they be like that! maybe we should give em glasses
Bro if you know scav AI at all those are warning shots lmao. It was just an extremely passive scav but you got killed because you stole from it, other scavengers would have you probably dead on the spot lmao.
Errmmmm 🤓☝️ actually it's a feature of variation of the scavengers, in this case a high inner value in game make this scavenger do various warning shots. or they're just bad at aiming
His antlers and small and his eyes are neither thin nir large, his stats might be rather in the down side, i can't test it but if you could (which i don't think you can D:) can you give the ID of this scavenger for tests and to see his stats?
Am i weird for thinking this? but, why do scavs climb over and on top of eachother sometimes? like, why do you rebar throwing monkeys show your @$$holes to anyone in a 30 spear radius of you?
