Hi Laura, Just watched this older vid, for me, drinking was not so much a social thing, but a comfort from loneliness, almost like a medicien. I would spend whole weekends drinking to relive this problem, hoping it would go away. Iv'e been sober now for six months, like you say its not easy, but heres to a brighter future. Thank you for making it feel normal to quit. PS, just subed

Yay!! Alcohol is overrated. I only drink once a month or quarter. I also don’t drink unless there is something to celebrate:) thanks for a great reminder!

Hi Laura! Thank you for your quick answer. I have now been sober for two days. I downloaded the app - nice one! I agree: Andrew Huberman is awesome. So calm and present and precise. Wow found your channel from your not drinking at parties video so I'm going to have to go back and watch your past videos, but this video is spot on with my experience starting sobriety. Nothing major happened. My life wasn't in shambles. I didn't hit rock bottom. I wouldn't really even drink at home, but would notice it had become just such a normal thing that anytime I would go somewhere to do something with friends or other people there was almost always some form of alcohol there. I just wanted to see what would happen if I went a period of time saying no to drinking and see what effects that would have on my life as a whole. In my early and mid twenties I would read or listen to people who I would look at as successtheirn thier industries or people I would look up to in life growing up and the ones that really stand out all usually have a common theme. They usually don't drink or drink on very very rare occasions but alcohol is just not a factor in their life. Unfortuently the formula isn't as easy as don't drink equals being successful, but I think it's safe to think the less alcohol is a factor in your life the easier it is to focus on growing the other areas in your life that actually do make an impact in how your life goes.
