The REM branch between Brossard and Central station is finally opened on the 31st of July 2023 after many postponings. Open house days were offered during the weekend of the 29th and the 30th but I was sure that there were going to be a lot of people so I didn't go. This branch has 5 stations:
Central station
Île des Soeurs (Nuns Island)
Panama
Du Quartier
Brossard
This branch crosses the Samuel de Champlain bridge between both guy-wires to connect the Montreal island with the south shore. The stations all have a modern appearence and they are made of class to allow the natural light to enter yet to not be too dazzling. The platforms all have landing doors which assure the safety of passengers waiting for the train. At Central station, the tracks were formerly used for the former EXO 6 Deux-Montagnes line. Some elements of the old station were conserved: the X shape concrete structures on the platforms and the handrails of the stairs that leads to the hall of Central station. On the floor of this station, the color differences marks the former place of the platforms and tracks. The Deux-Montagnes line will be replaced by the REM which will open in late 2024 along with the Anse-à-l'Orme branch as well as the last branch of the YUL Trudeau international airport which will open in 2027.
