Neal Schon on guitar, Jonathan Cain on keyboards, I know the rest of their names but I think it was said Steve Perry had the flu at this concert. The other 1981 live concert in Houstin Texas is much better.
Steve Perry is the Greatest vocalist of all time!!! Watch this same song live from Houston same tour. Also Mother Father live from Houston Steve’s vocals on that are amazing!!!❤❤❤❤❤
This is great. I really love the Live in Houston version. So much more energy to it. But they are still great. Thinking it might have something to do with where they are playing
If I'm not mistaken, Steve Perry wasn't feeling well. You may want to react to WCN live Houston 1981. Steve Perry lead vocals, Neal Schon (like the name Sean) guitarist, Ross Valory (like the name Valarie) bassist, Steve Smith drums and Jonathan Cain keyboardist!
Neal Schon and former keyboard player, Greg Rollie both came from, "Santana" you might like to check out, "Black Magic Woman" Greg Rollie is also the vocalist on that tune. Maybe take you a look in on, "Lights & Same Way" by, Journey both Steve Perry & Greg Rollie share vocals. Santana if you have not done that one, DO! Peace
One of my top two Journey songs. This video's not as full sounding as Houston, and Steve may have been ill. Still cool to see, and with a good reactor. Thanks
This was their first date of the Escape tour and was the first time they had played this song live. (Steve messed up a lyric) They were feeling things out. Back then, the Japanese kept themselves in check, for the most part. They didn't yell, scream, dance, cheer too loudly, etc. In other words, the seeming lack of energy on stage reflected the lack of energy the audience was showing.
The background vocals are good, but how about the stellar Mr. Perry? Incomparable. Vocal prefection each and every time. There is nobody like him. BTW in a recent Billboard online poll, fans chose Steve Perry as best vocalist of all time...about 70%...
