I was also thinking of people who paint over the windows and maybe scraped the paint off - but yes the changable windows also make a lot of sense.

The glass was added later, the original door would have had wooden panels like the ones below the glass, this is very common.

Kind of a "not my job" sort of thing. You look at the blueprints, think "Ok, 🤔 well... What??? They want me to do WHAT?? Ok, no, yes, yeah, no, yesh, nuh, yup, nuuuuuhhhh..." Then your mind has a seizure, shuts down and you just start building whatever the picture tells you to build. I once built out an office with a crew of six people. We looked at the prints and woke up a few days later with a wicked hangover and about 1500 square feet of one of the most bizarre layouts I've seen outside of The Backrooms and Government Offices. It all matched the prints, and the client was very happy with it, but damned if any of us could make heads or tails of what was what or the why of any of it. Door frames and pass-throughs were in random places; a couple of exterior windows inside at strange heights; desks and counter tops at staggered heights; outlets and junction boxes at random places, including a coax cable routed through the middle of a window frame to the exterior. Poking fun at the crew's designated Conspiracy Nut, the boss joked that the clients were aliens. 👽 We all gave a nervous chuckle and stood around for a few moments in nervous silence before just leaving. We never talked about that job again.

@@taitano12 not saying I necessarily believe this, but it's definitely a good story and I'm glad I read it. there is probably a suitable subreddit that will really enjoy a more detailed version of your story.

@@ArcanineEspeon Well, the waking up a few days later part was an exaggeration. But the whole experience was very surreal. To this day, I have no idea what the layout was for or what the client did, and when it was over, it felt like a fever dream. We just proceeded with no clue as to what in the world we were building, collected our pay, and moved on. The aliens comment was real, though; and reaction was just a shared sense of humor. We really did avoid talking about it though. It was genuinely creepy. The whole Backrooms thing always reminded of it, even though The Backrooms came out nearly twenty years later. I imagine it was like that for many of the builders in this video. "You want me to what?? Umm OK... It's up to code, I think. So, sure. I can do that... Don't know WHY... But, sure, why not."

Well if you read it as "HO E" with the castle there then you shouldn't read it as "HAME" [or HMME] with the castle there. So you'd probably read it as "HOME" more likely than "HO E"
