This is so incredibly beautiful! I have adored this song since it was released back in the day! Haunting background vocals and amazing harmonies. I could listen to this song daily forever! Bless you, REM, for bringing this beauty into all our lives!!!!!!!!!

Thank you, Jenn Blue. A line possibly mentioned in Mackenzie Crook's Detectorists series. Series 1 Ep2. "Bergamot and vetiver" as candle scent option for a character.
Lady Blue great song thanks for putting it on your channel... I like R.E.M. but their songs can be very melancholy, they sing of life’s disappointments and overdoses... the struggles and stumbling blocks, the world is derelict with no philanthropy and fellow feeling to help the world to survive. We need each other but very few care... REM sing of this condition, we are all in the same life boat.. Mind how you go. R. x
I write alternate lyrics for songs I like... River's Eternal Mission Driving dark and empty roads Striving under heavy loads Where do all the spilled tears go? Some survive while others thrive With fortunes or a nine-to-five Where do all the filled hours go? Me, I live by fields in bloom Gentle rains fall every noon Where I have dew others have monsoon These rocky roads run riverside In the water life resides Wherein I will deeply dive soon Rivers take the easy way The delta fills the sheltered bay Where does the flowing stream end? Rivers flow into the sea To saltwater and serenity Where single thread and masterpiece blend These rocky roads run riverside In the water life abides Wherein I will deeply dive soon Something guides the river home It wanders but not on its own Where graceful bends fill peacefully lagoons Wade in here, fulfill the urge To let go and just submerge Where will the river take you next? Past the bay, lagoon, and reef The ocean is a vast relief Where arid land and water intersects At ocean's edge, a mind may think It's too much for one heart to drink Where can you find more hopefulness? I had to float to make it here The river drowned my every fear Where do I show my thankfulness? Dive in here, receive it all The ocean's great though I am small All of this is coming one day JDM17APR2020
Have you ever thought of becoming a lyricist? You should start by writing for a band local to you. Ask them if they have tunes, and offer your lyrics. So many bands (even bands who have made it very big!) have awful lyrics.
