I used to work with a Karen that was married to a local tele-evangelist. Coworkers used to say he must not be much of an evangelist since was married to a demon.
Probably the same Karens who believe they have the power to have people fired for simply having the temerity to not bow to their every unreasonable demand.
Judging others and thinking they speak for their god is _exactly_ what mega church pastors think they can do. Religion is just a front for gaining power and money.
Story 1: go to her husband's church and put her on the prayer list "because she's lost her way and the devil made her attack children"... make sure EVERYBODY knows.
Final Story - The was a wholesome IDon’tWorkHere story. Yes OP mistook someone as one of her coworkers but the guy was a good guy and helped anyway and after OP realized that she made a mistake he told her don’t worry about it. We need more people like that.
Also, it does seem that she asked him for help politely, didn't just order him to help, and it's amazing how far a little common courtesy goes (with both not-staff and staff)!
@@pippagrey9633 Exactly right. As many people have said in these stories, if you ask politely then others will help but if you rudely demand people to help you then they won’t.
I can't even recall how many people that have kindly asked for my help getting something off of a shelf knowing I don't work there and being so appreciative. I wish we could come up with a vaccine to cure Karenitis. However if we did, then we wouldn't have stories like these to laugh at.
First story: “my husband is a mega church pastor and you’re all going to hell. “”Well if I’m going to hell, lady, I’m sure your pastor husband will make a hell of a good tour guide.” Second story: I guess they all look alike to her.
*Story 2:* If I witnessed something like that, I'd instantly become a loyal customer for life! I love the owner's no BS attitude. Didn't even bother trying to calm her down or deescalate the situation. Just remove the problem entirely! Good on him.
The owner was either knows little English or acts like he knows little English just to make it difficult for Karen to argue. And the store is ... in another state from where OP lives.
@@lilyflower01 You’ve never heard those stories where a woman accuses a man of assault when she is the aggressor and immediately gets believed until security cameras prove otherwise, have you? Yeah, that’s how it goes. When a woman accuses a man(and because of that wording this comment will probably be sniper by RU-vid’s censorship algorithm) he is guilty until proven innocent, whether the accusation be simply being rude or forcing himself on her and anything in between.
Too many churches exactly like that. Christianity is more a symbol of social status and power than actual faith. I don't trust anyone who claims to be Christian bc of all the posers who are an active threat to my health and literal safety. Even if a Christian is good and true, I don't trust, cause they are often ignorant of the bloodthirsty history of their religion dating to AT LEAST Roman Emperor Constantine, who only made Christianity legal for political machinations.
I saw a Walmart Karen just a few days ago. A rather large, older woman on one of the store scooters was parked next to one of the cold food islands and as I walked by (along with a group of customers and a stocker), I heard her scream "QUESTION!" She was loud and shrill enough that I actually jumped, as did a few other people, including some on the other side of the cold food display. And then she repeated herself and did it again "QUESTION!", and a third time "QUESTIIIIIIIIION!" as myself and other customers just quickly walked away from the screeching Karen. Then she yells at the stocker "Hey, hey you!!" and when he turns she yells "Well?! Don't you work here? I SAID I had a question!" She hadn't attempted to get his attention previously, she didn't say excuse me, she just literally looked up and shrieked the word "QUESTION!" to the aether in an attempt to summon whatever it was that she needed. I don't know what she wanted, because like I said, I got away from her quickly. I don't do crazy. Poor employee doesn't get paid enough to deal with that.
I too would have said that. One time I was using an ATM and a guy behind me saw me cover up my hand when I punched in my PIN. He says "You don't have to do that. Do you think I'm a thief?!" I replied, "Well I didn't, but I do now."
Speaking from someone who deals with these "Christians" often, I will advise AGAINST doing that. It will just make everything worse and draw the encounter out. @@christinahosey7-4-72
She’d start up another rant and go into a religious screaming tantrum again. Seen it happen, when a religious nutcase Karen found out I was gay, I just said “scream all you want about Jesus, but it won’t change me, plus Satan has got a hot ass. Literally” Should have seen her face when I said that.
Story 4: Honestly, even as an employee, I don't think OP would know anyway. Also, you'd think criminals would avoid drawing attention to themselves, yet Karen here proceeded to throw a tantrum, get security involved, and get caught shoplifting. Oopsie
Some shoplifters do this as a way to draw attention away from their wrongdoings to focus attentions elsewhere. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Fun fact if you hit a paramedic that is a felony charge and you can face up to a year in jail with a $2000 fine and since the OP was still in uniform I think that counts. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though
With the last story it's nice to hear from "the other side" as to how these confusions can happen (at least sometimes), and that the person was willing to admit their mistake and apologize.
My new policy in all cases where I’m getting accosted by loons in a store is to just start screaming “manager” preemptively at the top of my lungs. Let’s just cut to the chase.
That normal for Newish English speakers, especially from Chinese. There are plenty that have master articles of speech and better translation. I expected him to just be stereo typing for the Karen. That disappointed me that it wasn’t mention that he was.
I was more bothered by a Karen going into an anime store claiming to be a regular client, and then claiming that every Asian that's in the store has to be an employee. Dude, as a weeb, working in an anime store would be a dream job.
@@meh2510nah man, it's not, dealing with the public can crush you real fast, plus, every item in the shop becomes "merchandise", not "Hobbie items" when you're monetarily responsible for them. Most people seeking employment in such stores get crushed real fast by that...
As a paramedic in good standing I once had a random older lady yell do your parents know what you do! I was confused for a minute, and then I said yes, and they’re proud!
When I heard the description of the Karen in story 2 my first thought was just "uh oh, it's genderbent Trump at an anime con." followed by laughing at myself for the string of words that just crossed my mind.
Second story: that woman was racist, plain and simple. Also OP’s comment on being from NYC and being used to the craziness. As someone who lives in New York State, can confirm we deal with crazies.
No argument there, racism and entitlement go hand in hand. She is entitled that her petty racism is correct. Anime is Asian so thus an asian has to work there.
Last story: See, this is what happens when you ask POLITELY. Most reasonable people will oblige (if they're able), even if they don't work there. I'm glad everyone was able to have a good time with it, and I hope the experience improved OP's confidence!
Story 1: And this is the kind of behavior I saw from “Christians” all the time while I was growing up, including my narcissistic Christian grandmother, that made me leave religion completelt
During childhood, my interest in religion was lukewarm at best because the sermons took up valuable television and book reading time but I gave it a nod of acceptance just because my parents seemed to be into it. When the concept of Hell hit home when I was in my teens, I gave up Christianity and became an agnostic because the idea of any god extorting their believers with fear of eternal torture was either made up or not worthy of worship. I never understood the level of devoutness that a lot of people put into these concepts, but I'm autistic so I'm likely over analyzing these things.
Paramedic vs Karen story: Wow, how Christian of Karen to say that! I hope she was banned from that Walmart for her troubles and made to pay for the bag of powdered sugar she destroyed as well as her being arrested. I hope word of that got back to her mega-church. Anime store story: How absolute racist of Karen. Good grief! Anyone want to bet that was only Karen's first, maybe second time in the store? Clams story: IMO once someone grabs you, all bets are off. I'd have likely given her a knuckle sandwich or at least my slap would have been on her face. Don't grab other people Karens, retail employees aren't your slaves and mistaken customers are likely to not care what they do to you. I'd like to know more about what happened at that Target story. Shoplifting story: Yeah, shoplifters will often do whatever they can to deflect attention from themselves. But often enough it backfires and draws attention to them. Oops. Soup pot story: Eh, it happens. A case of mistaken identity. At least everybody played along and while there was some teasing, didn't make a big fuss over it. A good ending.
In the last storey, it just goes to show the difference is between asking someone politely and asking someone rudely. The guy was happy to give a lending hand even though he was mistaken as an employee.
Story 2: If I'd been in the OP's place, I would have given the Karen in the anime store a blank look and then answered anything she said with "No comprendo" in my best imitation of a Mexican accent. It would be hilarious watching the Karen's tiny brain combust trying to figure out why an Asian-looking person was speaking Spanish!
"Don't think I'm stupid!" Me:"Then give me some evidence to the contrary." *Age does not denote maturity.* Education does not denote intelligence. Wealth and social status does not denote class. *Volume does not denote veracity.*
Story 5: That a shoplifting tactic. Karen would complain against the workers after shoplifting some items then make a scene to point all the attention to the workers before leaving with the stolen items.
Story 1: I know the manager, yeah right. At this point Karen's using that quote means it's just empty threat and the manager who call the police when OP got hit just confirm it's. Can't help imagine the husband not being happy as a church leader means he have some bad rumors coming his way.
Story 1: She is a pastor's wife and has not read the book Hind's Feet on High Places by Hannah Hernard? The major premise of the book is being able to practice 'Acceptance with Joy' which means Requires you too let go of your Expectations.
Regarding the statement from story 3 when "fluff" says there's no good reason to put your hands on someone well you're dead wrong if someone puts their hands on you then that's the best time to put your hands back on them! Letting someone physically assault you & you doing nothing is pretty much the dumbest thing I've ever heard!!
Okay, that is a brand new one. Never heard of a Pastor's wife threatening people with eternal damnation if they don't obey her. She reminds me of the words of Mahatma Gahndi: "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ."
its nice you included a story of how normal people act with the woman's own story realizing your mistake and be a little embarrassed but apologizing and moving on
If her husband really were a mega church pastor: 1) They have people who handle the shopping. 2) The very last thing he wants is the bad PR from his entitled wife throwing a tantrum at WalMart. 3) I have to assume the Waltons, richest family in America, donate enough that the pastor would let his wife be jailed, rather than throw her “weight” around in one of their stores.
Story 1: if I could have been in OP’s place, as pagan occultist I would have informed Karen of this fact when she threatened me with hellfire, followed by telling her that her Devil is my bitch. Story 2: if Karen doesn’t want to be treated like an idiot, she shouldn’t have acted like one
There are a lot of things to unpack in that first story. “You’re the only security guard on duty so stop shopping”?? What? Okay, if someone is shopping, they’re obviously NOT on duty. And clearly she knows that he is shopping, as she said that. Screaming assault for getting called an old geezer? But a pound of powdered sugar to the face isn’t?! Karen logic really astounds me! Oh. Megachurch scammer. That explains a lot.
When I still worked armed security (never again, that industry is a cesspit) I had a Karen grab me when I stopped at Walmart to grab coffee for the morning. Imagine her surprise when the cops told her she was lucky I reached for the batton on reflex. Under Ohio law if your in uniform and armed (cop, corrections, or security doesn't matter which) and someone grabs you it's considered grounds to use lethal force as your supposed to assume they are attempting to take your weapon.
Two things, the pastor’s wife…. “If your husband is truly a pastor, do you think you’d be proud of the way you’re acting” Or “if you’re a Christian, maybe you should act like it!”
With Story #5, most of these stories would have good endings if the people admitted their mistake and apologized. It's only people with huge egos that can't accept being wrong that are the problem. Of course if this happened, Fluff and Steve-O would be out on the street, so we should be grateful.
Vote for me, and I will put in a bill to put all Karens on a list. These Karens will not be allowed out of their homes without a chaperone and speak to service staff directly. They must also introduce themselves as registered Karens.
Story 1: Until then you are going to jail. These videos will be played at your trial & the congregation will see you for what you are. Your husband may not be a pastor much longer.
I once heard of a Karen who tried to grab an old woman's shoulder 5 seconds later that Karen was on the ground with their arm raised begging for Mercy with the old woman on top of them
Story 4: Shoplifting Karen was stupid. The last thing a shoplifter needs is to draw attention to themselves. Story 5: OP was not a Karen. She did ask nicely and she genuinely mistook the guest for one of the temporary workers.
story 1 - whenever a karen starts going to the exit after hearing words like " security footage" or "security cameras" you know they did something wrong story 4 - here we see a karen showing her lack of intelligence, she has been stealing, and STILL thinks its a good idea to start causing so much trouble the police get called lmao
Christians: My Pastor just healed all those people! Pagans: "Yeah, right. He'd have been (ended) from exhaustion and/or burnout years ago." Even Jesus could feel the energy go out of him when the sick man touched his robe.
Story 5: Best story ever! I would have probably friendly teased too if I knew my server was going along with the joke. So glad it was a fun experience though!
I've never been to a store that deals exclusively in anime, but I've been to many stores where it is a major part of their inventory, and I've honestly never seen an Asian employee at any of them.
If you really want to stereotype them, Asians usually have valuable skills that put them way above working retail. And stereotypically, a weaboo would pay for the privilege of clerking in an Anime store.
While it would leave us with less fodder for head-shaking, SO Many of these encounters could be avoided with the simple phrase "Get the F Away from you you Loopy Grunt!!!!!!" (Insert "C" where Appropriate)
I was having an absolutely terrible day and DarkFluff has made it a million times better and helped get rid of a few tears that were threatening my eyeballs.
The root to the massive US Karen problem is most likely the lack of employee safety, which lead to "the customer is always right" which lead to Karens. We don't have anything close to that here in Sweden.
I'm really stumped. Why is it hard to understand what someone says when they say they don't work at the business? It's as though those Karens have shut off the rational part of their brains and are unable to process anything said to them. Karens putting their hands on someone gets them exactly what they get. As it should.
Its funny when Karen's/Kevin's threaten to never come back, especially when it's a massive store, or chain they're referencing not coming back to. It's like, yes this chain makes billions a year, but we're meant to put everything on hold to cater to you, just because you threaten to not come back. Like them not spending a few hundreds bucks is going to threaten Walmart or whatevers bottom line.
@@JamesDavy2009 exactly and the fact that Karen’s/Kevin’s can’t look outside themselves long enough to realise that is I guess one of the reasons why we love to hate them.
One of the nice things about working security is that Karens have absolutely zero power over you. "Ma'am, I don't need to do anything for you, and if you keep raising your voice, you are getting banned for the day."
Yikes for the first 4 stories but the 5th one was hilariously adorable and The cop who helped Op had such a good nature about the whole thing plus He could have said no to helping but he did
*Karen grabs my arm* *Me in the scary calm rage voice* "This is going to end on of two ways either your remove your hand from my arm or I'll remove tour hand from YOUR arm."
Wanna bet the husband in the first story is divorcing her telling her that she's going to hell for being a B of a Karen which all Karen's should be going imo
That "you're Chinese" story hits hard for me because I've repeatedly been in that same scenario. It's always, "You should know, you're Asian!!!" While I'm going "NO! I'm Irish/Congolese, for some reason I just LOOK Asian! Look at me freckles, I'm NOT Asian!" So I feel that girl's pain there, Karen's need to grow some ears or a brain.
First story: She is a prime example as to why I do not think "autonomous" churches should exist...The highest person with authority should be a bishop or something higher than just a "local" pastor and their partner. Churches where the pastor is the highest authority tend to get drunk with power and control--I mean the situation is perfect for that there is no real accountability for them. I'm sure that woman is used to demanding and bossing people around within her church, because she is the pastor's wife and just can. They get so used to it that it bleeds out into society and end up with things like this happening...or worse. Also, interesting that her megachurch believes in Absolution and atonement (In liturgical churches like mine [Lutheran ELCA]) believe that the church executed through bishops and priests were given the power to retain or release sin (most lay Lutherans probably don't exactly know this either) most megachurches are American Evangelical churches and they most certainly do not share that belief... Evangelicals and Lutherans (The original evangelicals) are extremely different on most doctrinal things, except the basics--the Trinity, Jesus is both God and human, most of the Apostles' Creed the 66 book canon of the Bible lol after about that, completely different... sorry, definitely ADHD info dumped lol
Also, since I paused to type then revisited-- the comment about Christians not acting anything like the Bible....American Evangelicals love to shout "sola scripture", "The Bible is inerrant", etc, but their doctrine and tradition, for lack of a better term, aren't really based in scripture, so we really can't expect American Evangelicals to live a biblical life, when they don't really even know the Bible........
That comment on story 3 really creeped me out. What is it with old people and them trying to put their hands on random strangers? But to be fair, when I have a panic attack and someone touches me that just makes it worse, because I am scared of being touched by strangers. God, that old lady was so creepy. I'm glad OP got away.
Story 1: And then everyone on the bus started clapping. I don't give a crap if it's embellished or completely fabritaced. The channel's presentation is entertaining and the OP's writing is good enough.
