r/entitledpeople OP's sister in law finds out that OP has a LOT of money due to her career and investments and demands that OP pay for her family vacation! After OP refuses to pay up, sister-in-law goes absolutely psycho and tells everyone in the family that OP is being selfish. This leads to the whole family becoming really entitled thinking that she'll pay for everything they want! Subscribe for future stories!

People are ghouls. A story of many years ago....My mum's grandfather passed away. My mum the eldest of the family went to the grandfathers house to get his goods and chattels for lack of better words. All the ( or most of ) grandma's jewellery was already gone to the vultures, virtually overnight. The few pieces that were found including a pair of gold teardrop earrings ( very old ) that were left behind as one of the ghouls had given them the tooth test and found they were not solid gold. They left teeth marks in both earrings thus destroying them and threw them back in the box. To this day my mum still has them. Note: they were indeed quite valuable ( she had them valued for curiosity sake,value B4 the damage ) . The ghouls through their selfishness and ignorance discarded value. Those earrings are still stored safely away. Ain't Karma wonderful !!!

I would tell some people. People I can trust. An if anyone started getting greedy, I'd just cut them out of my life. Part of the problem they made, was being super generous right from the start. Without even being like "Yo we didn't have to do this, but we thought it'd be nice to bless y'all. We can't really do this all the time or for everyone, but...we decided to do something nice for y'all" INstead it was more like "YOu didn't treat us the best and we're just giving money away to ALL family members. Because we can." If you let people think they CAN be Entitled, they WILL be entitled often times. Personally tho, when I dated a girl who had more money than me...I never tried to hit her up for money. I never just expected her to pay for all my meals. After 7-8 months he moved out of state, changes his numbers, didn't tell anyone about his new job, etc. The only one he still talks to is me and his sister, I was shocked to hear the two of us were the only people who never asked him for money. All this from what was honestly not a lot of money. He only found himself suddenly flushed with 'buy 3 houses' money. Which is what he did, one to live in, two to rent as supplementary income while his job generates his actual income. It is incredible how people are more like guppies than they would want to admit.

I'm not mad my two rich uncles don't spend a dime on me (even when they come for Christmas and we all exchange gifts). It's theirs. My feelings used to get hurt bc I truly love my family but decided it was not worth getting upset over because I don't see them enough to let it bother me. Even if I'm bringing him something, that was my choice, he didn't ask for that. Rich or not being descent is great. It's harder to stay rich if you give everyone everything though.

For the family members who helped, they deserve to have money put back in their pockets. They sowed in some good deeds when everyone else was abandoning them. Unfortunately, most of the family were cold hearted greedy people. Unwiling to help them out or even give them a loan. There are people that you CAN trust. For instance, I never act entilted with other people's money. I look at it as a gift that I should be thankful for. Even when I had a GF who ahd more money than me, I NEVER expected her to pay for ALL my stuff. Sometimes she'd buy me food or coffee, other times I was paying for it. I never complained the times I was the one paying either. All I tell people is, "If you come into some money i'd ask you at least buy meals when we're together and a nice gift for my Birthday and Christmas. I don't need or expect you to just toss a bunch of money." An in terms of a nice gift, it could be a brand new computer, rather than a brand new car for insance. It's open as to how "Nice" is defined. For some of us, we prefer people to money. Money is nice and all but...I get more out of people than possessions.

Before long the people are no longer grateful, instead they complain the food they are being given isnt what they want or its not enough. The people no longer thank the group for helping them but now consider it the groups responsibility to give them the food they deserve. Theres the old saying; Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he can eat for a lifetime. Its wrong, it should read; Give a man a fish and he will be back with his friends tomorrow for more fish. Try to teach a man to fish and he will complain that you should just give him some fish. I broke away from the family and joined the military for the next 20yrs. I wanted NOTHING to do with the money. I instead made my own and proud of it. My general rule is: DO NOT let anyone know your networth!! Be humble and be a "secret santa" year round. I give in smaller increments, its harder to track it. Last, it never stops amazing me how people become entitled for your hardwork. Also, if you do run into money...quickly get a lawyer and file a living trust.

She feels bad that she isn’t standing out for them, but she needs to remember, that they dont stand out for her, before or after. And while being the better person is being above that, it also means not letting them get their way and destroy you. They are no longer family, for they removed themselves when they stopped treating you as family, and instead as gold enriched dirt.

My dad told me as a kid, a millionaire lived down the street from him. The guy lived in a nicer mobile home and drove a Volkswagen. That was his life. What would I do if I’d won the money? Probably be very conservative. But, at the same time, remember you can’t take it with you. It’s still important to bless others. Just find discrete ways of doing so.

Yeah, this isn't anything new, apparently. From stories my Grandma told me when I was a kid, this was standard behavior towards rich relatives, in olden times. My Grandpa was the only son of an extremely rich man. My Great Grandfather was also an only child so my Grandfather ended up inheriting all the family wealth. My Grandma was also from an extremely well off family. So we were financially stable. My Grandpa decided to relocate our family to a big city because he was a lawyer and he wanted more opportunities than he would get in his village. At this time two of my Grandfathers cousins, from his mother's side, came and asked him to split all of his wealth into two and give a part to each of them. Their logic was that my Grandma was just as rich as Grandpa and nobody needed that much wealth. And since he was going to make big bucks as a lawyer, he could afford to give all of his money away. Grandpa had bought them each new houses and a few acres of land the year before. And it wasn't like they were suffering for money or struggling to make ends meet. They were comfortably middle class, just not wealthy. Well Grandpa refused. They said that they deserved a share and Grandpa told them that his wealth was from his father's side and they were on his mother's side of the family. They didn't deserve anything and he wouldn't give anything. They tried everything, from water works and guilt trips to curses and abuse. Grandpa left with our family and they never saw each other again. Good riddance, Grandma always said.

Honestly in the same boat and I agree, not that I have money or anything but our family was torn apart over the inheritance from my grandparents. It ended up being family against family. So my parents and us decided to break all ties with the large family and we haven't had anything to do with them since, we live our own lives and do our own thing and we refuse to ever get together on a holiday or vacation or anything, from our perspective we have no family and those members don't even exist. We decide who is family and who isn't, I don't care if blood or marriage is involved, its still our decision who we welcome and who we ignore.

Those family members tore their own family apart by the way they acted. Not money. Saying that it’s the fault of money and not their own gives them a pass. It’s as if they can say “sorry the money messed with my mind” and then they can get off scott free and not be held accountable for their own detestable actions.

Had the same Experience with my sister in law, who refused to work saying it's too stressful. I decided to STOP being her ATM( after about 15years) and suddenly I'm a bad person, my brother sided with Her and i put Him in the same spot with Her. Now i can enjoy my hard earned money the way i want. She kept saying that i have one child so my expenses are lower than Hers with four kids and so i must help out with money. I work for the Money ALONE but She gets to Spend it with Me.

Mistake #1 was paying all the college fees - that doesn't teach kids to be responsible. She started hanging out money and she built the entitlement tree. She taught them to expect it. It wasn't the money, it was how she handled all of this - a real lack of wisdom. I had a neighbour who got trapped in this after he won $14 million on the lottery. He and his wife moved across country to get away from the relatives and moved in next door. If I won, I would tell no one: I would move.

Those people should get a restraining order soo big that they CANNOT be in the same STATE and all states bordering that same state as OP. That way Even if they try to come close, they would be arrested on the spot. Example if OP lives in McAllen Texas the Family cannot even step foot in any of the states bordering Texas. depending on the state The restraining order can span over 300+ miles. ------------------ in order to make the most of that restraining order OP should move to Tennesee since the Family would have a Travel restriction for 10 States. {or about 1/5th of the USA}
@cgi2002
@cgi2002 4 года назад
@@darknessblades a restraining order like that is completely unenforceable (and would never be issued). A restraining order can't force someone to move homes, quit their job, or massively alter their life style without good reason. Theres a reason most of them are only for a few hundred yards. Also as restraining orders are usually issued by state courts, not federal courts, they can't ever prevent someone doing something in another state. And should you try to get a restraining order banning someone from your state, their lawyer will get a big old smile on their face, and proceed to jump up and down with joy while explaining that a person can not be bared from working, living or residing in any state, that right is enshrined in law.

I have a similar story. Although it doesn’t involve as much money as the woman in the story, my husband and I, through hard work and good timing, came into a decent amount of money. Enough to retire early and debt free. One morning, a nephew I hadn’t spoken to in years (and was never really close to) calls me at around 7 am - waking me and my husband up. Without any courtesies, he launches into how a major appliance broke and they need a new one and could we “lend” them the money (I know from other family they never pay back what they borrow). I said “no” and he replied “Well, just wanted to explore our options”. What? I have never been an “option”!
