In Canada, if someone says their animal is a service animal (including emotional support), and it acts like a service animal, them it is treated as one. A misbehaving animal, service or not, is the responsibility of the owner. Honestly, it saves a lot of headaches. If it's a pet, but well behaved, cool. If it's a service animal, the owner is generally not harassed or confronted about the animal.

Yeah, that's what I find incredibly funny when they seek people with all these requirements. Nannying is a tough job and can be very stressful. And families pay a lot because they know that (also they are aware that someone with a degree in caring for children need to be well paid). I think the problem is that people confuse babysitting for a few hours (from the 70s-80s where babysitting was just a side hustle) with nannying. Anything that last 8+ hours over multiple days, requires them to cook, clean, and do other jobs, PLUS have a degree in child care are HIGHLY paid and come with bonuses.

My sibling has worked as a nanny for different families and they have worked at daycares. They told me before that they like working as a nanny because they get paid so well and instead of 20-30 kids at a time the max they had to deal with was 3.

Exactly! My mom was a preschool teacher for years, just started nannying and she gets way better pay, PTO on holidays and if they cancel because the kids are sick, and the kids are so sweet with really understanding parents.

This used to happen to me when I worked at a different restaurant. I would walk to the freezer "looking" for a manager and then come back and tell them either 1) "😆 I AM the manager." or 2) "😀😆😀 How can I help you?" It was literally engraved in my name tag that I was the shift manager. 💁🏽‍♀️ Not once did Karen stop to read it first. One actually called, got the VP of Operations and told him I had been "rude" and wouldn't let her speak to the manager. He told her I wasn't rude, I was assertive and she seemed not to be able to handle that coupled with the fact that a Black woman was in charge of the store at the time of her visit. I had worked with him before and on one occasion he was surprised at my ability to handle stressful situations. I don't flip out, I get the job done and move on. 💁🏽‍♀️ Karen, however seemed to be taking some external stress out on whomever she thought she could. Food service and retail tend to be Karen's favorite targets. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I used to work in a fabric store. Some lady got mad because I cut her the yard of fabric that she asked for instead of the yard and a half that the store she "usually shops at" gives people for mistakes and seam allowances. (Not that she could remember the name of the store, of course. 🙄) So I told her to either ask for the amount she wants or shop at that other store, because we don't just give fabric away at ours. Fast forward and she's at the register, where she asks for a manager because she wanted to talk to someone about the rude little girl cutting fabric. (I look younger than I am. 😅) Her face when I came up to the counter with my bright, super duper customer service smile, tapped the Manager on my nametag, and said "Hi! I'm the manager. How can I help you?" It's been YEARS and that memory still makes me smile.

@@Naptosis we love lord of the rings, narnia, and marvel movies. We watch a bunch of fantasies with witches. My dad also claims we shouldn’t have started watching Harry Potter, even though he bought the whole set and I saw him watching it himself. I play Skyrim and Fallout 4 which is similar in style to D and D to where you can make your own decisions, and both games have occult stuff. It took some convincing but I am now allowed to play Pokémon. They have bought me the games and merchandise for me on birthdays and Christmas even though it’s “demonic”. My dad let me play and watch murder shows and shooters when I was very little, but another reason I’m not allowed to play dnd because it can get violent. One of my dad’s favorite marvel characters is dr strange.

But they did apologize and said that they'd comply with the restaurant's rules.

Yeah, my mother is as Catholic as they come, and the only thing she gives up for lent is meat. Not much of a sacrifice, if you ask me, as there are lots of tasty fish based dishes, but she takes it very seriously, to the point of not letting me use the same oil that was previously used to fry any meat based food.

I think the biggest problem with this is she doesn’t realize how ignorant she is because you know Muslims exist and they fast for a whole month and I’m Muslim and I’m not really bothered when I see food ads or things like that because the world doesn’t stop for me

Also if someone has a medical problem that may hinder fasting for a full month are they excused or allowed a shorter fast? I'm used to giving up something for lent as a kid, but giving up sugar or meat still leaves me with plenty of other foods to eat. Edit to add) I myself have health issues that requires I eat regularly but on a restricted/fasting diet, so I usually can't eat till about 10 or more hours after waking or will suffer the consequences. But not eating within that window means I'm shaky and likely to dry heave and/or faint, let alone the fact I'd have zero energy in that case.

I’m not sure if she truly thinks Harry Potter is Satanic, or if she looked at the price tag and saw it was a tad expensive or something, but I hope it was the latter.

That's not true.. That is like, not true at all. Emotional Support Animals are literally that, emotional support. They are not trained in obedience or to do tasks for someone with a mental/physical disability. ESA are pets with permission to live in pet-restricted areas because they provide you solely comfort. Now THERAPY animals are the ones that are starting to get restricted, especially because of freaking morons who feel they can call anything an ESA or Therapy animal that isn't a dog. I get ESA (the pets with privilege) being anything other than a dog (within reason for living in small places of course.) but people now a days will claim a duck as a service animal or a peacock as an ESA.. And I can't with those people. I HAVE a service dog, she has been through both the STAR puppy program, Obedience training and training for tasks that benefit my daily life and keep me functioning.

But it's true: ESAs _used_ to have the same protection and access as -support- (edit:) service animals. But that was taken away. Look it up if you don't believe me. In the past you _could_ take ESAs on flights, in shops, restaurants, to the doctor etc. You can't anymore, if the owner of the place/business forbids it. The only protection/access left for ESAs is in housing. If you move to a place that has a "no pets" policy, you can move in with your ESA, if a number of conditions is fulfilled (doctor's document and some other criteria).

@@augustaseptemberova5664 There's zero proof of what you were saying, and the issue isn't whether or not the ESA provides you comfort, it's whether your animal is trained enough to not disturb other guests and/or defecate all over the carpet. Which there's no nationally recognized certificate for either of those, but since some people have no choice but to rely on the service that a well-trained animal can provide, the ADA covers that. ESA and ADA recognized Service Animal are not on the same level of importance.

Most jobs you are in fact not allowed to do without a proper degree. But I very much remeber how my parents and parents genetation in all western countries made it look like you cannot do anything unless you get a PhD.
