Absolutely perfect video. Great job on speaking as well, no "ummms", "ahhhs", etc. Nice to hear!! Great install job and fast forwarding thru the tedious stuff.
Thanks for posting this. I tend to be mechanically challenged, but after watching your video I got the tail tidy. It probably took twice as long to install as it should, but I got it done and it looks great!
hey fella great vid ! it really was helpful. my rear tail light was actually wired wrong from the factory but with a bit of help we realised that red/red and blue/yellow was the way it needed to be wired ! just posting this in case anyone else has the same problem. thx again my friend
Completed today on my 2020 Vulcan. For those considering doing this, you can thanks to this video. Many thanks Redzone Rider. Two tips I learned as a novice: 1) Removing the three notorious hex bolts that secure the metal fender that have lock-tite (5:18 in video): If/when you strip the hex cap on those, use a fine metal file to make a couple of flat edges on that round cap, then grab it with a plumber’s wrench and you’ll have enough torque to twist off. You won’t need those bolts going forward. 2) Connecting the thin brake light wires (9:10 in video): strip off a little more insulation than they did (have at least ½ inch), and fold the tip portion down to double the width of the wire before inserting into the male bullet/jacket. Additional wire thickness will ensure good electrical contact between wire and bullet. Note that the 2022 R&G kit still needs this step, but not cutting. Thanks again Redzone.
Awesome video mate, this really helped a lot. I had some trouble with those wires and connecting them to the female. I’m still learning the basics I guess so I had to switch to another video to figure out how to attach the wires correctly to those little pieces in the pack Appreciate the knowledge 🙌🏼
Man, your production value and quality is great!! I just subscribed after having seen a few of your videos even though my first bike ended up not being the Vulcan S like I wanted but a Harley Street 750 instead lol
Thanks for this video! I bought the tidy tail kit and the instructions it came with were garbage. This video was a huge help, especially when it came time to match up the wires.
Dude I had no idea that that allen wrench was hidden behind the side panel there. They didn't tell me at the dealership when I picked up my bike. Thanks for that
I really like the look of the tail tidy, but I am weary of the smaller brake light. Motorcycles are hard enough to see and rear end accidents seem to be the most prevalent, I want bigger and brighter lights! Lol!
great job picked my 2019 model up friday done 200 kms lol would have done more but bad weather thats the first thing im doing makes her look so much better keep up the good vids cheers
make sure that if you do put bags or side cases on that there is clearence for the turn signals or you might have to go with minis. i just installed givi trekker 33 monokeys and i want a fender eliminator and im thinking my turn signals are gonna collide with the trekker 33's
Absolutely great video, thank you. I am looking for a legal new backlight unit for a while now. Just a little question, when I klink the link below I only see the tail tidy, do I need to order the light and indicators separately? Please help me out, the current backlight needs an urgent modification. Thanks in advance.
For not being a fan of aftermarket mods, I am slipping. The tail if the S does lack a bit and I have to admit, me thinks it looks better. Not too shabby. Now I am wondering if bigger lights on the tail would augment the retro look. Thumbs up.
Super helpful video. no way i would have been able to do this with the instructions they provide. FYI for more recent r&g tail tidy kits, the new tail light wires do not come with plugs. They just require 4mm male bullet connector plugs to be added to them, which is very simple to do, and then plug into another Cable that the kit provides which further plugs into the stock connectors on the bike for the tail light. Hope this all makes sense.
Great video man. I just ordered my R&G so I will be using your instructions to install it. By the way, didn’t you take the opportunity to install LED blinkers when you installed the R&G?
Thanks for the video man. I've been in two minds about the R&G tail Tidy kit. On one hand it looks a lot neater without the big fender, but on the other hand I'm not a fan of the smaller tail light. Do you think that the bracket is compatible with other tail lights, like the Harley Soft Tail ones that go right across the back. Thanks again for the video!
Orville Obaldo you could probably easily modify it by drilling extra holes in the bracket to fit a harley softtail light. Can't say for sure though but I've seen others mount the soft tail light but none using the r&g bracket that I'm aware of. I really like the look of the smoke version of the R&G looks slick as in comparison to the clear light.
What's the angle of the licence plate with the vertical. The rules in France (and Europe ?) say it cannot go over 30• from the vertical otherwise it's considered too much horizontal and you cannot be controled by the automatic speed control. LOL
Awesome! I believe I'll be doing this for mine in the spring, I just need to make sure the indicators clear my saddle bags. Do you have to reuse the stock signals, or would others work as replacements?
Hello again. Have you had the chance to install LED blinkers in the Vulcan S? Do you know which relay to change is order to change the blinker speed to adjust the LED resistor?
Video was a great help to install. However I've done everything the same as you but running light and license plate light not working, do you have any tips or thoughts to why?
Wow sorry Daniel I only just saw your comment. Hopefully you've resolved this by now. The original License plate line is not used with the R&G install. This may be why?
Aliexpress :) Worth Noting: They didn't have thread in the screw holes so I had to put epoxy resin in, screw in the screws to let it set and create a thread.
Really love the Vulcans, theyre such a good looking bike. I'm also from NZ and was looking to do a tail tidy for my Ninja 650. Did you have to do anything for WoF, like put on reflectors? I've been considering doing a brake light with integrated turn signals, and just doing a basic R&G tail tidy for the plate + plate light, and removing the indicator stems all together, but not sure if I need to put reflectors or anything on it?
I thought the newer R&G tail tidy kits come with the proper plug for the brake light so you don't have to cut off the one from the Original brake light. Was yours old stock?
hey my friend, big question, how come u went with this fender elminator kit oppsed to the led light bar you said you were gonna put on but never did. Please let me know because I want to order the led light bar for my brake light
How is the running and brake light compared to the stock in terms og visibility when its dark? Its it smaller, but brighter? I wouldnt want to be rear ended because i removed the stock just beause tail tidy looks prettier.
Which of the brake light wires is for the running lights and which is for the brake lights? Reason I am asking I am also going to add a Denali B6 Auxiliary light at the same time and need to know the OEM Brake and Running light wires.
It's very obvious when you are disconnecting them. The R&G kit doesn't actually require the use of the original running light cable as this was a separate light on the stock setup. So you could wire something new into the running light wire if you don't have the OEM relay installed to power your accessories circuit
Actually you are confusing the running light with the license plate light which is separate from the others on the OEM circuit but the R&G kit still has a Running and a Brake light circuit. Blue and Red wires of the OEM one is brake and one is running. No worries, I got it installed along with the B6 Denali aux light which is about 10 times brighter than the R&G light ;-) Red is Running light, Blue is Brake light and Black/Yellow stripe is ground.
Merci à vous, pour le temps de nous informer sur le montage, ça change la gueule de la bécane trop chouette, maintenant j'ai monté ce système et elle est magnifique. Bonjour de France !
Aliexpress :) Worth Noting: They didn't have thread in the screw holes so I had to put epoxy resin in, screw in the screws to let it set and create a thread.
How did you remove the 3 bolts on rear metal plate? What is the allen wrench size? I have stripped one wrench and 2 bolts already and can't loosen them. even tried after heating 😭
It would make a great first bike. However I would recommend getting some lessons first on a smaller cc bike. The Vulcan s has a suprising amount of torque.
Can you say how far forward the signal indicators are from the original location? I have Givi panniers installed and worry the indicators might not fit. Not a deal breaker as a tail tidy and heavy Givi hard cases just don't go together.
Nah unfortunately just using the onboard camera mic. Shot on a Lumix GH5. Would love to pickup a shotgun mic for it at some point but its actually my works camera.
I haven't personally had any experience with them sorry. I highly recommend joining our Vulcan S Facebook group. facebook.com/groups/KawasakiVulcanS.english/
I installed the Puig windshield, but as it take the wind away from the body, it's worse for the head. I added a spoiler at it, and now I'm happy, the wind is deflected just on the really top of the helmet and it helps A LOT when travelling highways, or by cold temperatures ! (I'm 1.75m).
It was a good while ago but I don't think so, no. I'm pretty sure there's a plate inside the rubber bit holding it in and from memory I tried just as you suggested.
Thanks bro. this was very helpful. I was waiting for someone to post this video. thanks a ton. pls send me the site and the price. does it come with the bracket also? or only the lights
Aliexpress. They were supplied with no thread on the screw holes so I had to fill with an epoxy resin and put the screws in while it dried to create a thread. Bit of a screw around (pun intended) so I don't bother advertising them.
Hey man! Nice videos in your channel! It is necessary to put the catadioptric/reflective??? [0:53] And, if it is, where can we put? (im from Spain, so ... dont know how you know that word haha) I have just buy this bike! [Subscribed+Like] Thanks & greetings !
It comes down to your local laws. Some countries/states require a rear reflector. Mine does too. I'm Not a fan of the supplied one so I intend to put some red reflector tape in the small areas of the bracket that are exposed next to the brake light. ENJOY YOUR VULCAN!
