I just want to say thank you for the tip about the grips. I just bought and picked up a gently used 2018 Vulcan S Cafe today after finding out that the Can Am Ryker was beating my backside and spine to pieces. Great three wheeler but I couldn't even see a new seat making it more comfortable for me. The Vulcan is like riding on a cloud but the stock grips are making my hands go numb in a hurry after just a few minutes.

Gorgeous bike man. I love your seat with the green trim, and those are nice saddle bags. Truly beautiful bike. I'm gettin a fondness for this bike. It's now on my list of possible bikes I may purchase. I would love floorboards on whatever bike I get. They look great, and man they would be so much more comfortable.

Interesting what you say about the Puig windscreen. I put one on my Suzuki Intruder 250 and it was a Godsend. Made a world of difference. I plan to get a Kawasaki Vulcan in the next year or so and definately with a windscreen.

I second that on the seat being no 1. Original short / medium reach is not working if you are a larger type of person *ehrm*. Got the original Extended reach seat, that is more like the Corbin in its design and stuffing by the looks of it. Works much better. Also got the passenger seat for it and a generic sissy bar so the wifey doesn't fall off. For no 2 I have a "Smart Turn System" automatic turn signal add on, works crazy well, fairly simple to install. For no 3 I swapped exhaust pipes to a Delkevic slash cut. Horrible noise even with special long-baffle insert but impressive gains in low RPM torque. Working on swapping sprockets to avoid the low torque jackiness when shifting low gears. Will start look for the floorboards and saddlebags next, thanks for sharing :)

How tall are you mate? I am 6ft, looking at this bike, do you think is a bad idea?
@justinneill5003
@justinneill5003 5 лет назад
Love this bike, and came within a whisker of buying one shortly after passing my test. I think it's easy to live with, the low seat and narrow profile with exhaust tucked away must make it easy to flat-foot and the ABS gives great confidence especially to new riders. This (and my buddy's V Rod) is the bike that opened my eyes to the genre of the modern sports-oriented cruiser, and I knew that was the direction I would go. But after learning and taking my test on a Honda CB600F, rightly or wrongly I thought I'd soon be looking at bigger capacity bikes so decided to get something I could "grow into." No always smart but it can work if you respect the power and ride within your ability. So in a moment of apparent insanity I bought the Suzuki M109R which is about twice the size, 120kg heavier and nearly 3 times the engine size. I confess it sat in my garage for a couple of weeks while I stared at it in awe and tried to figure out my strategy for getting it out of the driveway, but I picked my moment and once I got rolling I knew it was going to be ok. The weight just melted away, the bike is well balanced and the throttle is very smooth. That massive V twin pulls along even on tickover and that makes it actually easier for slow manouvres than my 600 Hornet which needed more care when finding the friction zone. Also low enough to flat foot (just about.) I don't recommend what I did but if you respect the power and let your skills develop before your bravado, pretty soon you will realise that you have all the bike you're going to need for quite a while. In fact I can't see myself ever wanting or needing to sell my M109R.

I decided to make the Vulcan S my first motorcycle and I am glad I did. It was exactly the bike I needed to learn and get comfortable. I took the step up to the Harley Davidson Heritage Classic not to long ago, because I wanted a motorcycle that was better suited for long distance travel. Glad you like your M109R, ride safe!

John Apocalipto I’ve been eyeing this bike for multiple years. Since the first Kawi Vulcan S Rolled off the assembly line many years ago. Not even talking 2017. I’m talking before that. Usually when a company comes out with a new bike I like to wait for the consumer audience to give the company enough feedback first so that the company can modify their bike according to consumer feedback enough for them to get their shit together with a quality bike version rolling off the assembly line years later. I think that time is about now for me in my opinion.

Nice seat!!! My opinion on your next upgrade is to change the stock exhaust, it will make a life difference. I bought a ‘17 with only 350 miles on it a few weeks ago. Thanks for the video. It confirmed my thoughts about the seat and adding saddlebags! About the floorboards... about how difficult was it to swap out the pegs for these? You mentioned adjusting the clutch, was it hard to do? What about the rear brake pedal? Any adjustments to it?
@motorcyclingendeavors2750
@motorcyclingendeavors2750 5 лет назад
Adjusting the clutch lever so that you can fit your boot under the lever after installing the floorboards was easy. I actually googled it, watched a video, and then said to myself that's it? The adjustment is very small, two notches that it all it took for me. I did not have to do anything for the brake side. The swap out was easy, when you go to remove the pegs, watch out, that spring can fly. Congrats on the bike, stay safe out there!!
@kevinjessiman2836

I agree that the seat gets uncomfortable with extended riding. I have an airhawk pad which helps somewhat, but I would prefer a better seat. And here is the issue. There is more than one seat for the Vulcan S. My bike is set up for a tall rider, which has the seat with the thinner back-wall allowing the rider to sit back another inch or so. I don't see multiple versions on any 3rd party vendor including Corbin, so is this the short/medium seat or the extended reach seat?
@motorcyclingendeavors2750
@motorcyclingendeavors2750 5 лет назад
I was set up for medium reach, and I really did not notice too much of a difference between the Corbin and the medium reach seat. If I had to guess, it felt as if I was a little closer to the handle bars.

Hi there! I know this is a 2 year old video but I am researching floorboards and these are the only ones I've really found that I like. I'm a fairly new rider and the 2020 Vulcan S is my first bike I intend to have for a long time! Your video was quite insightful! My questions: Were they hard getting used to compared to the stock pegs? Is it harder/different to shift/brake at all with them? And can you stand up on them at all if you ever have to like stretch your legs or go over rail road tracks, etc? Thanks in advance!
@ellpat2928
@ellpat2928 3 года назад
Me too. I’ve only had floor boards for the last 10 yes. My legs cramped up so bad.
@motorcyclingendeavors2750
@motorcyclingendeavors2750 3 года назад
The floor boards did not take much getting use to, you just learn to pick up your feet to clear them. Having my feet on floorboards makes it a much better ride than pegs. The brake side I did not have to make any adjustments to. The shifter I did, I moved it 2 notches so I can slide my foot between the floorboard and shifter easily. Hope this helps, congrats on the Vulcan S, and stay safe out there!!

The Corbin seat is a game changer for this motorcycle, best $500 I spent. The motorcycle was much more comfortable for the longer rides and felt a little roomier with the Corbin seat. Take off the stock seat and look at the base pan. It is so thin and flimsy you can depress it with your thumb. The stock seat is complete garbage. The Corbin seat has a firm carbon base pan that provides support. The foam they use for comfort is superior also. If I was thinking at the time I would have done a short video comparing the base pans. Kawasaki should contract Corbin to make their seats, I would have paid $500 more upfront to have this seat straight from the get go. Hope this helps, thanks for the comment, and stay safe out there!!

I've been going back and forth hourly between the Vulcan S and the Harley Sportster 48. Does the Vulcan S have good zip for a 650cc bike? Have you ridden a Sportster? I ask so I can get a comparison reference. Good video!
@motorcyclingendeavors2750
@motorcyclingendeavors2750 5 лет назад
The Vulcan S was my first motorcycle so you have to take that with a grain of salt in regards to what I say here. To me the Vulcan S has good zip, it was snappy on acceleration and I had no problem riding to work in Downtown Indianapolis, or jetting down Route 40 at 60+ MPH. I always felt the bike could give me more when I needed it. Hope that helps. Have you looked at the Indian Scout or Scout 60?
@69FOSTER
@69FOSTER 5 лет назад
Thanks for your prompt response! I have thought about the Indian Scout, it is a great looking motorcycle, but the nearest Indian dealer is about 50 miles away and those dealers are few and far between and I don't have a pickup truck. Only minus on the Sportster 48 was the riding position, in the test ride, I was leaning too far forward, which could be uncomfortable while on an hour long ride.

No modifications at all. The brake side fit perfectly, and the shifter side all I had to is best described at the 7:00 mark. They stick out like dumbo ears, but the function was well worth it. I found them by reading forums and decided to try them. Like I said, dumbo ears, but worth it. Thanks for the comment and stay safe out there!

After a while once I got the feel of all the gears and how the engine sounded at certain speeds, I did not pay mind to it. I am going to assume you mean the stitch pattern of the sitting part of the saddle. The stitch pattern on the Classic Solo product page is the exact same stitch pattern there on the seat. From the Corbin site "The specific webpage shows the correct stitch pattern while the configurator will show a generic stitch pattern that may not be correct for your seat." I got confused too before I read everything. Hope this helps.

For the floorboards and adapters you have, companies are saying the attachment 8813 doesn't fit the Vulcan S. Thoughts? Did you have issues installing them?
@motorcyclingendeavors2750
@motorcyclingendeavors2750 4 года назад
I will admit they weren't an exact fit, a little loose I would say, so I agree they won't fit the Vulcan S. However did they work, yes. They served me well and are much better than the pegs. If they happen to make boards specific for the Vulcan S now, I would get those. Hope this helps and stay safe out there!!!

@@motorcyclingendeavors2750 what did you do to help with the looseness?
@motorcyclingendeavors2750
@motorcyclingendeavors2750 4 года назад
@@christina2181 Just snugged them in the best I can, if I was thinking back then I would have tried something with rubber gaskets. When feet are on them cruising around they are perfectly fine, when at a stop and you lift your feet up and brush them they may flop up a little because the adapter is not an exact fit. It was an annoyance the first ride, but I adapted quickly and they turned out to be a great addition to the motorcycle.

How do you find this bike doing 70mph+ on a highway for more than a few min? a lot of shaking/vibration? I got a Vulcan 900 and I cannot stand that hard vibration at that speed.
@motorcyclingendeavors2750
@motorcyclingendeavors2750 5 лет назад
Honestly I never took it on the highway. I am a byways kind of rider, I like traveling the state and county roads to see as much as I can. I did recently upgrade to the Heritage Classic because I find myself doing more long distance riding and planning multi day trips. If I had to go on the highway I would take the Heritage over the Vulcan S any day of the week. First it is heavier and a larger profile, and second the power. Not going to knock the Vulcan S because it is a great bike, but while it is good all around, there are other motorcycles better suited for particular riding. I know it is not much help with your question, but without direct experience I cannot provide a good straight up answer for you.
@danf8047
@danf8047 5 лет назад
hey thanks for the quick answer. I appreciate it. So I cruise around but also have to take highways (Canada) and I always felt that going at around 100km/h+ (60mph+) was strenuous on the engine, at least it felt that way. When I try to keep up with my friends (panhead, stryker, Ninja 1000) man oh man my Vulcan cries and is not happy at higher speeds.
@chrislindsey7645
@chrislindsey7645 5 лет назад
It uses the same parallel twin engine as the Ninja 650 it has just been detuned. You can push that bike as hard as it goes and it's still wouldn't be more than three quarters of the engine full potential.

I did move on from the Vulcan S, but I can tell you that Corbin seat was amazing. It is a complete game changer for that motorcycle, it is well built, provides a ton of support which leads to excellent comfort. I was able to ride a lot longer with that seat. The stock seat on the Vulcan S is 100% pure garbage, if I was thinking at the time I should have done a video comparing the two seats side by side. It was well worth the $500.

I completely agree with you about the seat. I bought the 2017 Vulcan s in the early spring of 2018 new. I absolutely love this bike except the seat... it kills your ass after an hour, that's how long it takes me to get to work. Been looking into the Corbin seat thanks for the feedback on that. If the motorcycle manufacturers would just have Corbin make their seats or teach them how to make seats we would all have happy asses! LOL The only other complaint I have about my bike is it sounds like an angry sewing machine can't wait to get the TBR exhaust. Have you had any problems dragging the floorboards in the twisties? I live in Southern Ohio we got some pretty awesome twisty roads in the Hocking Hills region and I've drug my Peg's a few times. Just wondering how the floorboards are in the curves. Thanks for the video.

The Corbin seat was the best thing I did for that bike. I have not hit it hard enough on the twisties to see if they scrape, but considering they are forward pegs on a cruiser class bike, they will probably scrape at some point. Thanks for watching and the comment, ride safe out there!!
