This lift is a real beauty! I love the wooden doors with the large amounts of glass in them. The owner seems to maintain it well and takes good care of it. The doors with the large window are especially nice when the lift passes by as an "illuminated moving box". It's just a cool effect, even better with large these windows. The wood cladding around the doors is also a nice architectural feature that I think is rare for the late 1960's. It has a stylish, luxery appearance to it.

Yeah! The wooden doors with their big windows combined with the original fixtures just look amazing. I also love to see a classic beauty like this arrive without inner doors through such beautiful designed shaft doors. The hall and surrounding architecture is really nice too. I'm so happy that i found this in Oslo. It was also our first find of the day!

Very modern controller for its time. It keeps the memories even if the photocells are activated, or if the stop button is pressed. It should resume only if one of the buttons inside the cab is pressed, but should not respond to the outer ones.

Indeed! Nothing like the unoriginal stainless steel boxes we see today.

Really nice panels those ones! You should have checked up the stairs on the top floor, might have got into the motor room?

Yes i agree, And I just love the classic Schindler fixtures. I also asked a gentleman there to see the motor room but unfortunately he didn't have access to it.

Awesome elevator! I don't know if there are some 1960's Schindler in Russia...

I also don't know, but i think there are 1960s KONE with automatic doors. Something almost impossible to find in Finland

Is the "Jeg vil..." part normal for Norwegian elevators? It's very cute

On some old elevators, yes. In a time where fully automatic elevators were something state-of-the-art and advanced and not fully understood by everyone, some users would misunderstand the up and down buttons for being those that decided which direction the elevator should travel. So if the elevator was above them, they would push the "Down" button to call it down to their floor, and vice versa for below and Up. It seems logical and it makes sense because even older elevators (pre-1950s) were sometimes equipped with "Down" buttons at each upper floor that would send the elevator down to the main floor. So that's why they added the "Jeg vil", as sort of instruction how to use fully automatic elevators with advanced floor selectors.

Thank you, it does make sense. I like these simple Scandinavian instructions. Here in Austria, everything gets modernized, I don't think we have many elevators which haven't been renovated, for example with having an inner door for ncreased safety. But it's a small country and changes happen fast. I noticed in Germany, there are many places which haven't been modernized simply because they have been kept intact - also a 'feature' very rare for Austria ;)

Speaking of Austria, that's where i'm travelling to right now! Hopefully the 1975 Freissler-Otis and 1973 KONE-Sowitsch elevators at hotels in Söll are still original. I documented them two years ago. I have also filmed a lot of elevators in Salzburg and Linz in autumn 2013, just haven't uploaded them yet. But you are right, almost everything was modernized (90% at least) and old original elevators without inner doors were really hard to find. I did however find some. In a 1950s residential building with an original beautiful elevator, i was there in the last moment before they started modernization. Innsbruck, Graz, Klagenfurt and St. Johann in Tirol are cities i would like to explore in too . Never been there before :)

I've never been to Tyrol or Carinthia (Klagenfurt) myself. There was a single-door old-fashioned elevator from 1964-65 in a furniture store in Vienna. I'll never forget that one, the one and only I've ever seen there which was unchanged. However, I am not sure if that store is still there, as I was inside 10 years ago. I think if you have the time to check the older buildings (which have an elevator, as this is not very common), you will find something interesting. I will check if the store is still there, but I doubt it. If you go to Vienna's Stephansdom, inside there is an elevator to the Pummerin bell which is very interesting. Round and wooden, like a cylinder. It has an operator inside though (a huge loud guy the time I was inside ;) + an entry fee), and I don't think you can film much of it.

I hope it is still there, however i do not have any plans to visit Vienna anytime soon. Arrived at Söll yesterday evening to find that this awesome elevator has been replaced by Schindler :( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f2GSXk1cJdI.html And this one is fortunately still original. I rode it several times. (Gotta ride them while we can) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q_tTG0I6lh4.html I have been to Vienna in August with Misha Gianoli. We did would many beautiful wooden elevators in old buildings. He already uploaded all his videos. You could check his channel out if you haven't already done so
