IMO the comment about Harry Potter isn't particularly accurate regarding all the reasoning behind things. People like/liked the Harry Potter series because it is genuinely good, with the exception of the extreme religious people who hated it for the reasons mentioned. People, particularly on the more progressive/liberal side of things, also liked J,K. Rowling at the time because she appeared to be progressive with a lot of her interviews and statements regarding characters. She included lesbian and gay characters, which was still very rare when the Harry Potter books were coming out. Over time, she began to convey a lack of understanding around being trans, which then seemed to progress into a hatred for trans people and a full embrace of the common stereotypical demonizations of trans people as being sexual predators and such. I think she was probably radicalized by the vitriol she recieved from the more radical and outspoken minority of pro-LGBTQ people. But the 2nd part is pretty much correct, in that she now gets praise from assholes like Tucker Carlson when she wrote a book featuring a male serial killer who seems to have been somewhat trans, but also using it as a way to get close to his women victims. The character is given male pronouns but is explicitly said to both use crossdressing as a disguise and tool to approach women, and to just like dressing as a woman. That's just one of many examples though.

I have been in the sea a few times over the years, I'm 65, but there I worry about the critters you can stand on, particularly the spiny ones that bury themselves in the sand and crabs. As a child I was whisked out the sea by my father just in time to witness a very red man swimming through a large bloom of jellie fish that were being washed by the tide ashore, this beach often had large dead jellies on it.
