Yeah, completing the entirety of Bad Apple and finishing it off by writing "botting is cringe" is definitely the most impressive accomplishment on the board.
It was honestly exhilarating to see the Reddit community collectively speak out and protest against the awful changes brought to the platform, especially during the final hours.

This r/place was a shit distraction anyway. Bots are everywhere and the admins didn't do shit about it, yet they were quick to erase the French's guillotine and any nsfw arts on the canvas. If anything that just reminds me of how much I hate the CEO. Fuck spez.
The world screamed their protest one last time before their world was destroyed. In the end, everyone united as one to show Reddit their last fight against the increased charges.

That shooting animation that went straight through the box and into Canada was hilarious. The Bad Apple animation lost a frame or two as revenge, but was otherwise flawless.
It was so fun to make, it was a collaborative effort, touhou masterminded it, OSU helped every minute they could and tons of other communities rallied, it was around 300 people full time around the clock and 600 during the spikes of pixels needed for each frame to change
In the last yin-yang push there was over 1600 people helping and like 50 different communities also helping. Some people didn't even sleep for the entire 3 days it took to finish

Let's be honest, this r/place was horrible but still enjoyable. Bots, Autoplacer and Streamers ruled the lands, but in the end I still got the be part of the best thing that was in this r/place and that was the Bad Apple animation.
@@gykex He also constantly went after Genshin and voided them 15+ times because of a personal dislike or something. He also replaced the Genshin art with a symbol used by white supremacists twice and tried to blame voidings on other factions.
Yeah, post-blackout the big communities I participate in are back to their usual selves like there was never ever a protest. Spez is laughing all the way to the bank.
I just love how Tohou fans got the full Bad Apple music video playing in sync to the time lapse, while to the left of them, Canadia struggles to make their leaf again like last year for a good while
For me, the best part of this pixel battle was a randomly produced story of dog and demon art, created with the support of one of the main streamers of the Russian twitch segment, Bratishkinoff, and the Spanish streamer Rubius. (The creator of these art collaborations is an artist named Lee, who sat with Bratishkin on the stream). That was cute and wholesome ;) P.S on my comments about this story many people angry about Bratishkin and his attacking of genshin arts. Can you explain me, why many people angry about it. Are there really so many genshin fans? After all, this is an ordinary casino that draws money, and if not money, then certainly time, almost a routine to do all these missions every day without any changes (although during all this time these people could do a lot, for example, touch the grass). And yet, I personally did not really like that almost everyone was hooked on this story, and not touched by the story with Rudeus (although the comment was only about this), is there more hatred than inspiration in you from a story on the Internet created by two random people for each other? Honestly, I'm a little disappointed with this : (but still I wish you good days without hating anyone ;)

Genshin was truly the Osu of this year. They survived i believe 49 attacks in total and lived to see the end of r/place. All i have to say is HOLY SHIT. edit: stop talking about bratishkinoff r/place is over now we don’t need to insult him anymore
Yeah we got raided and nuked so many times, yet we still managed to not only repair the art but improve it And this was possible because the logo was in CN xD
I was one of the mods in the discord that was coordinating the Genshin art (I'm the artist who made the Alhaitham and Qiqi, among other things!) and let me tell you, it was hellish. Every time we recovered from a raid, another one would start. Luckily, thanks to our perseverance, we were able to end on a high note!
Why doesn't anyone say that bratishkinoff and Rubius made this pixel battle? They literally created the most beautiful art story with a dog and a demon, and also raised everyone's ears to highlight the problem with reddit?
Rubius and Dog were definitely one of the good things to come out of this r/place But no way it is the best. Cellbits, Bad Apple, Slifer, Void, Charizard Card, One Piece, and others are arguably equal if not better.

Us from the Bluey community, our alliance wouldn’t let us use bots. Therefore we had to defend manually. We lasted the whole 6 days, and some of our artworks survived attacks from a dragon and the taskbar (temporally, we stopped) We also recovered quickly from a bot attack You can see us near both american flags
God that last hour where the entirety of r/place united to create the giant and monumental FUCK SPEZ before the entire canvas was whited out was so funny, epic, and somewhat tear jerking too. Even though this years r/place was kinda disappointing and also just one big cover up, I still applaud the people who participated not only in their own community, but also as one giant group in the end to protest reddit's shitty new changes.
Direct attention to the Bottom Right Corner of the video! Ah, The Blue Corner. What we call the LARGEST piece in r/place 2017, since it served as a BACKGROUND to countless pieces. In 2022, we withstood. But in 2023, there were a lot of battles. Itallian Streamers, A ton of bots, there was a lot this year. During the process they allied with many communities for the making, especially at the end where there're over 1600 people from over 50 different communities. Beside Touhou the Osu and Hatsune Miku (Vocaloid) subreddits/discords help the most with the project
For anyone didnt know, the streamer who make the VietNam map doesnt want to fight the dragon, the one who do that is some stupid ppl who think they can have more pixels for VietNam map and using bots, the streamer did nothing.

I was part of a really small community for place. It’s usually bigger, but not this year. Pink Floyd fans tried valiantly to keep the prism on r/place, and for a while we had a really good one, until a horse painting took it. We ended with a tiny prism below a mudkip. This was extremely memorable, and I’d like to thank Pink Floyd’s tiny place community for that.

As a member of the void we tried our best to fight off the bots the one piece community helped us a lot and we try to help them as best as he can a lot of other communities help too but in the end we all save the one piece
That event has always amazed me. I mean, thousands of thousands of people spontaneously unite just to make that tiny pixel-art at the bottom of the sheet. Practically for no reason, except for pure fun. That makes me believe that if at some point things went terribly shitty, people from all the globe would join together to overcome it. Wonderful
I was about to buy and play Omori because I've heard such high praises from the community over the years and have managed to stay blind, but it's been completely removed from the Xbox store so I'll have to wait till it's either back or I play it another way. Really sad situation, have we heard any details about why it's been removed? When I last checked it's just been complete radio silence from every source about why it was removed.

Not many people know, but the Russian streamer Bratishkin (known for the drawing of a dog hugged by a demon) started this protest after the redit community began to write about Russian Nazis and avoid questions when the battle would end. And also the Redit administration itself began to simply ban people in the comments with Russian nicknames. After that, Bratishkin contacted Rubius, and he contacted the French, Germans, Turks, Poles and Brazilians. Many were outraged that Redit avoided direct questions and behaved so strangely. The unity of nations in this game touches to the core, proving that no policy will spoil the good people anywhere in the world.
Dude's pretty cynical, he may have helped with the Rudius Demon and Dog art but we can't just overlook the fact that he was the one that keep attacking Genshin's art for 33 straight times and other communities above his apple cat and banana dog art.

The biggest Russian streamer Bratishkinoff did not draw the Russian flag in order not to start a political conflict, because reddit does not like Russians. However, Genshin's reddit players still called him and his subscribers Nazis and wished them dead. Bratishkinov drew art with a dog and a demon, with a banana and an apple, with a fish and a cat.

It feels so weird to see every single battle I've fought with, osu being griefed, hololive being invaded by turkey and chile, UGA and Grapu being kicked off the board by the Russian streamer, only to come back with the best static drawing in the canvas, helping touhou this whole time, helping gachas, genshin being invaded nonstop and helping them defend and rebuikd four hours, pink russians, the hilarous big "fuck spez", the time were we took nearly 40 minutes to make a 20 pixels heart with the italians, being invaded multiple times by streamers, bots and other countries... This is my first r/place event, and even though from a technical and management stand point it sucked from reddit, it's the best event I've ever participated with. Thanks everyone for those wonderful memories ❤ Glory to the UGA and it's allies!

I'm proud to be a part of this, fighting on the side of the brarishkinoff who built some of the coolest art, namely artt with a dog with a butterfly and a demon, made in collaboration with Rubius. I am also proud that the final protest with fck spez started with us, and in the end everyone supported it. I want to express a separate respect to clowns on genshin, who called us Nazis, did not believe that we would have such a global protest, but when it did, they shook the tail and pretended that everything was the way they wanted (just like reddit moderation lol).

There's nothing wrong with Felps face tho, he has a reddit community as well and his face is a huge meme here in Brazil. he's a good guy, when he was making a face he told the chat not to attack small communities and just get the necessary pixels
