Yep. I go to cons with a very strict no refund policy so 3rd party buy/sell is often the only way to get $$ back if something comes up. We always say to use goods and services and be weary of those who won't. The decent sellers get it and people usually end up splitting the extra fee too.

I'm surprised the neighbour in the 'noise control' story wasn't fined herself for all those nuisance complaints: kids playing in the afternoon? Lawnmowing at noon on a Saturday? Even though OP was completely right in the first story .. if that had been any other (and honest) shopkeeper .. imagine someone calls you claiming they lost their card in your shop and wanted a refund to save you the cashbacks. I mean, this has SCAM written all over it. If I was such an (honest) shop keeper, I'd very much insist on getting police involved. In the end, if the culprit is found, they'd have to pay me the chargeback fees anyway. Even if not, shops have insurance against stuff like that. So it's not like I'd be losing money, if I refused to just give some stranger on the phone money.
@Axel-zc6xj
@Axel-zc6xj 2 года назад
Fair enough, I hadn't thought of that. Still, what sold the employee as the culprit was her attitude. If you had insisted the person to involve the police, that would actually help the person if they actually did lose their card or stopped the scammer in their tracks, whichever they may be. Either way, win-win!

I agree, I think if I were a business owner I would ask them to file a charge back. If a charge back is filed incorrectly it’s easy for a business owner to dispute it, I used to work for an online retailer and I’d tell scammers that all the time - “go ahead and file a chargeback, but if it’s determined to be false the company will pursue legal action.”
@arieli1451
@arieli1451 2 года назад
I'm a manage a store that sells big ticket items ($3,000+) We require the person calling to come into the store with an id for a refund. We've had calls like this a couple times, and usually it's a scammer who stole a card; bought something from us, and then want a refund a couple days later so they can cash the money from the card they stole. I would have told op to call their bank for a charge back. We have insurance that covers stuff like this for a reason.
@ZombieMinion1992
@ZombieMinion1992 2 года назад
So always get the police involved if there is credit/debit card theft. Your bank and any shop owners will want the police involved and the non-emergency line exists for this reason. One of the societal problems right now is that the police do such a variety of tasks that it is silly but it is their job.

the noise complaint story reminds me of the last place we lived. There was a neighbour that moved in below our apt a year or so after we did. Due to my wife's stroke, her walking is a bit 'stompy' on one leg and her other leg also bounces (like an unknown twitch) when she's at her computer. Apparently these were enough for the new neighbour to call the landlord multiple times. The leg bounce wasn't even something I noticed and I was sitting practically next to her. In the year prior - no complaints. In all other apartments with people below us - no compaints. The worst part was that the landlord didn't even inform us at the times of the calls and just let the "complaints" build up until they booted us out. Didn't even allow us the opportunity to say our side, etc. So, during the 2 weeks of moving, you can bet the music was blaring, and I suddenly became a VERY heavy walker. Not a great resolution and a bit petty sure, but it was enjoyable.

To be fair, many departments are pretty underfunded and have to make choices. Every officer dealing with petty theft is an officer that is not available for violent crime investigations. In such small town settings the police is comparatively well-funded and since less crime occurs per capita, they actually have the time and manpower to deal with such things.

Big cities with high crime rates and underfunded police departments are the only ones suffering from this, especially in most of west and east-coast U.S. from what I've heard. When you even have to wait in queue on the emergency line before being connected to dispatch, a credit/debit card theft is far from the concern of any officer in the area. It's sad, but that's become life of the now corrupt metropolises across the country, and it's made worse by normalizing that destructive kind of governing.

That first story reminded me of that incident at a Starbucks drive-thru, where the barista took the debit card from a customer, claimed she was out of receipt paper, then walked away, card in hand, to copy down the numbers. She then went on a shopping spree later that day, causing the customer to not be able to pay their monthly rent. The customer went back to the Starbucks drive-thru the next day, recording herself doing so, and the same barista was working that day. The customer confronted the girl, and the girl crumbled very quickly. The customer was lenient enough to not press charges against the girl, but Starbucks obviously fired her. And because the story went viral, that girl will likely never be able to get a job again. No employer in their right mind would hire someone who stole from a customer, much less their former workplace.

We actually had the police called on us for a noise complaint during the day. I think it was incredibly hot outside, we just got our new tv and sound bar hooked up, and decided to binge watch “The Walking Dead “ before the new season started. Between all the gun shots and yelling on the show, and us yelling at some of the boneheaded actions of the characters, the neighbors were wondering wtf was going on. So the nice office pulled up, knocked at our door, and explained why he was there All with mass zombie murder occurring, rather loudly, on the tv just inside in the front room. Strangely, the neighbors never called during football (American) season when we were screaming at our team, the coaches, or at the refs. I am sure we were much louder and swore more

@rSlash, in the 90’s, when I was 17, I had joined my first band. It was a pretty brutal metal band (death metal) and we’d practice at my drummer’s parents house, who were okay with this. My drummer’s neighbor would call the cops on us, literally, every practice. We made attempts to soundproof the room so as not to bother her. Did that stop her? Nope. She would constantly call the cops. One day, one of the officers who would frequent these calls brought a decibel reader and said that she had no reason to complain. Our decibel level was well below any noise ordinance levels due to the noise proofing, which we ended up removing later on due to mold problems. We went without an issue for several months, until we get another visit. Apparently, the cops said that she has been calling 2-3 times a week, oddly enough on our practice days, and that they’re fed up with her calling and could we turn it down. I told him that we mix around the drums. If it’s quieter than the drums, we can’t hear what we’re doing. He asked if we could turn the drums down. I said, “They’re acoustic drums. They’re not mic’d”. He just said, “Okay”. I’m not sure what happened, but after that, the cops just simply stopped coming by. She made several pleas to my drummer’s parents and they just told her to knock off her bullshit. Fast forward 30 years later and our original bassist dates a girl in the area. Her landlord? Yup, crazy lady from next door. He hasn’t said a word to the landlord, but his girlfriend is well aware now and NOT surprised.

Story 1: Most cops do NOT have murders to deal with, most cops are for issues exactly like this, fraud, theft, noise complaints, and general disturbances. Story 2: It's not doxxing giving information to an individual based on circumstances and issues. Doxxing is publishing somebody's information online not helping with a case of theft. Story 3: They aren't legally obligated to follow through with noise complaints from a repeat offender of false claims actually. If they said they were it's a way of garnering information regarding the complaint. They will also use similar tactics to try to gain entry into your home if they don't have a warrant, they will come up with something and try to get you to open the door. It's naive to think that the police don't use underhanded tactics on law-abiding citizens. Story 4: Whenever somebody includes extraneous information such as being a lawyer when them actually being a lawyer is irrelevant since at the time they weren't one it just screams "legendary online" behavior especially when it's followed by "I did all the right things and look how cool I am". Not saying it's not true, but it's far more likely to simply be attention seeking behavior especially since it sounds like they frequent reddit with stories for the attention, likely including that they're a lawyer in the majority of posts as well. Just feels like a story R/slash should have curated out all things considered especially since the pay off isn't even satisfying.

I LOVE AIR HORNS ON TRACTOR TRAILERS !! After teaching my son to signal them on the highway, he would always get bummed when we got in the car and we’re only taking surface streets. Lol. I don’t blame him though. It’s a blast to crank your arm and have them respond whether you’re a kid or an adult.

As someone who collects Transformers, this satisfies my knowing he got what he deserves and then some. We already have to pay aftermarket prices for rare toys. So scamming us out of our money is unforgivable in this market

For my comment on story 3. Give me a break there's always going to be loud noises. I used to live in a trailer park with a 8 dogs in it and every single morning and day I would hear constant barking. Never filed a complaint. Annoying at first but got used to it after awhile. Lol

3:30 when someone steals your credit card info it’s a serious problem. Regardless how you feel about the chargeback process the companies need to investigate and hold people accountable. If they stole from you they could call the police on you so it’s only fair you can do the same. They say it’s bad to call the police in McDonald’s because it’s a civil matter if McDonald’s does not give your money back because they did not give you what they pay for but if you stole something it’s criminal matter, not fair

I once had a property manager give me a runaround on refunding the deposit. After two months of ever more convoluted excuses about why they hadn't mailed the check, it was well past the state mandated deadline to either refund my money or mail an itemized list of deposit deductions/charges. Since they didn't do either, it was clear their sleazy tactic was just to stonewall and hoped I gave up. I simply sighed and told the receptionist, "I guess I have no choice but to sue." As soon as what I'd said sunk in, her tone changed to a quivering panic. I had them and they damn well knew it! The law is fairly strict with very little leeway on the matter. In fact, pulling this kind of BS could easily get them slapped with punitive damages well in excess of the deposit. After consulting the manager, my deposit check suddenly turned up and I could pick it up first thing in the morning. You bet I deposited it right away to make they didn't try to pull any other nonsense. While state and local tenant laws can be convoluted, the two sections _every_ renter should be familiar with are about responsibilities for deposits and repairs. A decent summary of the relevant laws and ordinances can usually be found online. Sleazy landlords usually know them, they're just betting that you don't.

I have a good story like this today, my neighbor has a 5 year old son that she's told me multiple times was an accident in front of him. She's honestly one of the worst parents I've ever met in my life, she parents him when hes outside by himself by speaking through her ring doorbell camera and hollering her name My son is 8 so obviously they both like to play together! He was coming over more frequently over a week and eventually started ringing my doorbell at 7:30 in the morning I told him he needed to go back home because it was too early and he told me he couldn't because his mom locked the door so I walked him back home and she spoke with him so disrespectfully and didn't know I was standing there I told her she need to unlock the door and let her kid inside and she changed her tone real quick quick. For the rest of the summer She would send him over to my home I would feed him breakfast immediately after he would come in my house, Eventually I started feeding him all meals of the day.. Custody for mom and dad was weak on week off call mom cell so I had him for the weeks Eventually I started feeding him all meals of the day.. Custody for mom and dad was week on week off. Thus little boy is a very entitled rude boy that thinks it's funny to cuss, he also has a veeeerrrry big problem with the truth. I brought it up to Mom and she said he gets it from his dad because he's from Scottland (what?!?!). So before school starts I get a text from mom saying his dad is livid because my son is teaching theirs cusswords........... and dad doesn't want him around me or my son anymore. My son doesn't cuss. I don't cuss. The mom says, and I quote "I'm saying something to you so dad doesn't have to, cause he has an anger problem and he told me I needed to tell you before he did something stupid to you or your son" (she previously told me he had received new domestic violence charges from this year on 2 different girls) so I asked if she was telling me he was threatening me? She told me no, but it's safer for me if she told me. Right.......? I told her that it's unfortunate it's gone this way but I agree, kids can't play anymore especially in my home. It bothered me because I saw a change in the boy because he was getting attention from an adult that wasn't just buying him toys to make him behave. But, whatever. After a few weeksI see the dad pull up (mom had been avoiding me) and asked if I could speak with him. He said sure, I spoke with him, at first he was an absolute jerk and was attempting to get into my personal space, it was then that I informed him that I was the one that had his son for the entire summer, mom locked him outside (took multiple videos of mom yelling for him throught ring camera) he was coming over at 730 am and I had him sometimes until 9 pm when I would force him to go home. Mom would be asleep on the couch with door locked. Dad was shocked. She told dad she had been taking care of MY son this summer. He told me that he thought mom was changing because before this summer mom would bring the kid to her parents and only bring him home to sleep, then straight back to her parents. I informed him she was going to attempt to get full custody (she told me in detail how, and because she wanted more child support. She's an aspiring influencer at 38) so now dad filed first in court. Mom still gets kid every other week but he's back to his grandparents house for most of it. Another neighbor heard what had happened and was just as mad as me that he was being locked out of the house and parented by dorebel camera. That neighbor called cps. There's now an active cps case plus a possible custody change. All because she told baby daddy she had my son, can't parent hers, lied about my son cussing, lied about me babysitting him. We never even agreed that i would babysit. He just came kver. I can't leave a 5 year old outside. I spoke with her multiple times and every time she would give me a Starbucks gift card afterwards. She told me to my face that I "never babysat her son. He was playing with mine outside" I asked her where she think he was eating and resting during the day?" She told me "that doesn't mean you babysat"........ that's exactly what it was. All she had to do was speak with me if there was an issue, if I was neglecting my child I would NOT turn it around on the person whose taking care of your kid, I wouldn't piss off the person that knows you lock your kid outside at 5 years old. Ugh.

I've sadly heard too many stories similar to the one about the Shattered Glass Rodimus Prime being in that fandom as well. It's also sadly not the only fandom that does that. I hope this guy eventually found one for himself since that other guy put the "con" in Decepticon. Gotta say I love that this video also had two references to my favorite fandom.

They allow you to look elsewhere and not look too bad when more complicated jobs show up.

Your videos are very entertaining they make me laugh society needs to stop and look at what is really going on in the world right now . today I have three guide rules for how to deal with Karen's male and female use them to your advantage avoiding long drawn out arguments . 1 . always be nice even if it seems difficult never lose your cool ramain calm at all times because if you lose your temper they succeed in that point of irritating you to the emotional feeling not thinking rational anymore . 2 . explain whatever situation try getting them to realize they are wrong and not you another thing don't say anymore than you feel you have to which is necessary ask that person to leave you alone and only if things get really bad then call the police . 3 . walk or drive away if ya can't get through to them you can avoid arguments with Karen's most likely a lot of them will attempt to hold you up no matter what your doing or wherever you are going all Karen's have this don't care attitude and chances are will give outsiders a very hard time . Kenobie : " you don't need to see his identification . " Karen : " we don't need to see his identification . " Kenobie : " these aren't the droids your looking for . " Karen : " these aren't the droids we're looking for . " Kenobie : " we can go about our own business . " Karen's : " you both can go about your business . " Kenobie : " move along . We had a huge back garden we shared with every other flat on our side of street. We played there as kids a lot. Some neighbor was facing the back garden a small sidestreet over. He was an annoying old grouch. He would complain about any noise during midday, which technically is a quiet hour, but noone cares. He never called the cops though, just complained to my mom. She'd tell us to play extra quiet at lunch hours just to piss him off. My siblings later admitted, that they would ring on his doorbell and run, when they were older. I somehow don't think, that it helped his opinion on children...

The first story is why my mom tells me to use my debit card as a credit card always. Using it as debit is basically like taking cash out of my account, but using it as a credit card makes it so if something bad happens then I can get money back. Also, don't use things like PayPal or Venmo, I read an article where it can go wrong. People made payments to buy something but never got the product. They had to go through so many hoops from the third parties and ended up not getting money back.

What is weird is the noise control complaints. I don't know where OP is but generally you can't just call to complain about any old noise, usually they set hours when noises can be made (with the exception of exceptionally loud noises, like parties getting way out of control with the volume up to max) and any noises outside those hours (usually referred to as unsocial hours - generally between midnight and 8am) can be called in. Otherwise how would anyone every get anything done if you can force them to stop mowing their lawns etc? OP is using the term flat so I'm thinking either UK or Australia (not sure if anywhere else in the world uses that term). I live in the UK and know you can't call noise control (or we don't even have a noise control AFAIK) so maybe Australia which I don't know a great deal about.
