"It may be time for R. Stevie Moore to call the Guinness Book of World Records. At the age of 52, this DIY pioneer has self-released more than 400 albums (he's lost count), many of which are double albums. His sound diary, as he calls it, includes conceptual noise, spoken word diatribes, power pop, prog, punk, country, mini-symphonies and some genres that don't even exist yet. His albums, the majority of which are decorated and assembled by hand, are always stamped with his wry sense of humor" - Mark Griffey, Junk Media 2004

I had the pleasure of working with Stevie at Sam Goodys in Livingston Mall, Livingston, NJ. I sold electronics, he sold records. First I heard was his version of Chantilly Lace. He made my time there much better, a special human being. I believe it was 1978, Spring and Summer 1978 and he was this skinny little fella with a knack for short but clever insights (especially with that great accent). I know this reads like signing a hs yearbook but he did leave a distinct impression....glad to see his talents have not been ignored.

Damn that's awesome. Sucks that someone with his talent would be working in a record store but many great artists whose work stands the test of time suffer and starve for their art. At least he's starting to get the attention he deserves.

He brought alot of joie de vivre to the place; his accent alone (especially as a transplant in NJ) was worth it...

Damn, I am quite selective with my favourites, and I try not to fill them up with too many songs from the same artist... but R Stevie seems to be dominating my list lately.

Great tune and lyrics. Reminds me, oddly, of Lee Marvin singing "I Was Born Under A Wondering Star" from Paint Your Wagon. Stevie's baritone works well here.

Although the future R Stevie didn’t “give up the fight” as he said, but I may. The song captures how I feel in this lonely and dark moment.

This song reminds me of my first trips where it's so out there it's easy to tell the difference between it and "reality". Back when you don't believe anything you see because it hasn't had time to show you it's logic, only it's conclusion.

Drugs are such a bullshit way to deal with existence. You won't find clarity there.
@d.dedrick7991
@d.dedrick7991 5 лет назад
@@MasDouc Not lasting clarity, that's for sure. Unfortunately, most recreational drug takers don't come to that conclusion until AFTER already having had looked, FIRST, often, long & hard for it, "There,"...Sigh....

Transition at 0:45 is very similar to the melodic transition of the chorus that first occurs 0:57 on REM's 'Sweetness Follows'. I knew it reminded me of something but I couldn't place it, had to go hunting for it. Lol. I wonder if REM were a fan or if it is just coincidence? I like that progression of notes, something kind of haunting about it. ******* Paranoid conspiracy theory-tinged/politically incorrect songs and skits that blur the lines between gloomy dystopian darkness, goofy absurdism and Lynchian surrealism? Genre defying music that touches on everything from experimental hiphop to art rock to gothic funeral dirges? That's what I do in a nutshell. Also discussions and film analyses at times. Check out my channel for more.
