Folks really should consult with their HVAC before changing out those thermostats to the new fandangle ones that are marketed. If they did, I'm pretty sure most of the HVAC would suggest other makes vs. the pretty ones.
I've installed 5 Nests for people against my advice. I've also uninstalled 2 Nests after they realized I was right. Heh. My own stat is a plain old White Rodgers programmable. All it wants is 2 AAA batteries every few years.
Neat thermostats are my best if we talking the old ones. Those new are garbage. . So .mr Ted. We are different in our likes. Mine are Goidmans and Nests. Yours are Train. Any way all those new thermostats are no no for me . Maybe I'm to old for new technology but even yung guys... 4 days to instal thermostat? By comparison the old ones 20 minutes, 30 minutes with exchange of a cable. Additionally , install new thermostat to older person. You will be there every time they're tuch it.
Is attic placement for the HVAC system common in this area? Sure seems like anything in the attic would be an extremely hot environment for this equipment.
Is that really an appropriate thing to do, putting water heaters outside? If I was a mischievous kid, I would be going around turning peoples hot water off 😊
People are strange, they will gladly pay the hvac man to add a refrigerant gas to their system that they can't see or smell but glory be will scream bloody murder if a drop of petrol leaks while filling the family motorcar .
I like my Ecobees! We have 3, 2 with furnace systems and 1 with a heat pump for upstairs. When I installed the one for the heat pump I had to change a setting for the reversing valve because I got heat on cool setting & cool on heat setting. It was a simple matter to change the setup to match what I needed. No problems since setup- it’s been 5+ years.
Great diagnostic. I've been to roughly 4-5 calls after the big companies have been out to diagnose issues and 10 out of 10 times they were wrong. I work for myself. I know we're supposed to make money but yet my conscious got to me to do the right thing.
