when I was a home (hopeful) prop maker, my "mistakes" became battle damage. I dropped one of my Mando buckets and it cracked (vertically) so I "glassed" it from behind and only slightly filled the crack and made a couple matching marks with a Dremel and filled them with copper to make it look like large claw marks. Looks cool if I do say so myself. Seeing how 3d printers are now affordable, I may get back into making a few Star Wars props. Starting with an Astromech, then FINALLY a Vader helmet and hard parts. Yay 3d printers.

@adonian, Yes! Nice story about embracing the defects! Armor is fantastic in the way that it allows you so much freedom that way. If you do decide to go the 3DPrinted rout with an Astromech, find me in the R2 Builders Group, I'm involved with a project there releasing Astromech Models to members based on club designs and free of charge.

Awesome work! Have you seen Mr Baddeley’s 3D printed droid files? He has a great R6 dome to print for free. That being said, I like how you are starting from scratch. That’s how I made my R2.

I Have… and I appreciate his work and the fact he has released his files. It is important to me, though, that I do as much on this project myself as I can. I know it would be much quicker to print more parts modeled by others but I get a lot of enjoyment out of going my own way. Thanks for your comments!

Where can i get the dimensions
@myAstromech

Hi Prof! These Dimensions are based on drawings and information shared in the R2 Builders Club. I cannot share those outside of the Club (But anyone can Join - Look for me there). The R6 is not officially canon and probably not protected by the Club Rules, and this design is entirely my own… If I do make the drawings public Ill return and post a link here (and in the description) Thnaks!
