R600 Intake Install on Our MK7 GTI

Note for install: I'm not sure if there is a different version of the R600 intake now, but the top cover should be installed on top and not under the two front, side screw loctions. If you look from the side of the R600 scoop, you can see that it is cut out and is designed to wedge around the from mounting area. Installing the intake with the top cover off makes it super simple and slips underneath the factory mounts without a problem. The top cover then simply rests right on top and you don't have to shove it under the tabs. I had it mounted just like the video originally and noticed the scoop area seemed too low, and it was a bit more difficult to install because it was pushing the entire box slightly down at the front. After checking some other videos and pictures online, I noticed that the tabs were on top in about half of the install. That being said, the turbo noises and whoosh with this thing are awesome! These are aces. So simple to install and throw in a larger turbo intake and the response and drive is drastically improved. My Golf R was flashing the traction control light today in 2nd gear after fitting this. On top of a stage1 tune it's awesome! Highly recommend. Sounds great too.

I highly recommend you buy the Spulen coolant hose to replace the stock hose. This allows for the R600 to mount more easily since the Spulen hose can be installed underneath the R600 housing.

Just installed on my 2017 fits, doesn't contact the coolant line like the unitronic did. Inlet temps are cooler than stock intake around 10 degrees above ambient. Looks factory too. Reading temps on my P3 gauge, love that too

I really wonder about the dyno difference between this and just popping out the snow / leaf shield in the bottom of the stock airbox and running a BMC filter.

I own this intake and 10/10 recommend. Great look, finish, and quality. Pair with the inlet pipe and Turbo 90 as well.

the 2020 Model now is available with a new designed cloth like filter (K&N style), still not cheap in pricing but finally a good filter without the risk of damaging the engine.

I wish I bought this version instead of the cup version, looks much cleaner. The old cup intake does still create some kind of seal with the insulation on the hood pushing on the heat shield. This just looks better.

Can't believe how expensive these are. I used to have a ramair intake on my GTI and it sounded awesome. Ramair don't make one for the EA888 gen3.b intake so ile probably go for the R600

Now I see why there is a coolant bypass hose that would drive me nuts that stupid hose over the top 😂 install would be much easier without it too I'm guessing. Good video thanks 😊

A foam panel filter in the standard airbox will do the same job for 10% of the cost of this.

There is a reason why VW designed the air inlet and box as separate items. The fit and finish of the R600 is well below OEM standard.

and at 6:51 you know that foam filter will be falling apart into your turbo intake after 24 months as did mine. Only issue with this system is that crappy foam filter. NOT DESIGNED TO LAST

Notice how there are slats above the grill for the air to come into the air box on the passenger side but they are not on the other side. I drilled 25 holes on the other side to let more air from the grill in. This intake has intake vents on both sides. It would seem that the ones on the drivers side will get no air without doing something like this....what do you think?

Will this fit a Jetta mk6 2014?

I just purchased one, and nowhere did I see mention of the need to drill a 40mm hole to attach the secondary air filter to the intake... not on shopdap, usp, urotuning, ecs, or racingline themselves. I notice the metal SAI is already drilled in as shown in your video, Paul. Do y'all ship these with that work complete? Or did you do that step before this DIY video and forget to mention this?

Wanna do an intake on my mk7.5 GTI, but just not completely convinced it'll add anything aside from the DV whoosh. And they're crazy overpriced. Thought my old carbonio intake on my old 20valve was expensive. These new ones are just ridiculous.

Wow, this is by far the most pain in the ass intake install I've seen on any gti/golf r/r32 since mk2's. Factory intake is not the bottle neck. I'd say do an intake of u want more sound but otherwise, from a performance aspect, it's just doing much.
