I am 78. My mother used to sing Veena Madhura Madhura Kuch Bol from Shobhana Samarth movie Ram Rajya. This is purely Bhimpalasi. To this day, this raga is stuck in my mind and whenever i hear it i am thrilled.
woow... what a talent!!... I am a tamilian. your tamil pronunciation is wonderful and accurate... almost all songs from tamil film 'Jeans' are composed in Hindustani music.... hats off...
This is the true service of Indian Classical Music ❤️... Great going Anuja ... Many legendary singers devote their entire life practicing Classical music but don't get an audience who could understand their efforts and hard work... What a splendid job you are doing by popularising the treasure of Indian Classical music... God bless you girl 🙏👏👏👏👏👏🤗🍓🍇🍫🍒...
I have never heard someone who had such a command of both Indian and western music and the raags which apply to both. I am so glad I found your channel. I wish you would teach in NYC.
To me, this video is a treasure of valuable knowledge with so many examples to relate the most popular songs with this Raag. Thank you so much for the great work you have taken up!
It is said bhimpalas/abheri have a very pop song vibe as it has the perfect mix of melodious tune and sharp innotations.. it's the most widely used scale all over the world!
Raag bhimpalasi is known as abheri in carnatic music.. Wonderful voice and great amount of knowledge Base makes your videos adorable. I have also heard your other videos... Great going...your efforts are similar to CHARULATHA MANIs passion relating cinema music to raagas. God bless you and your family. Happy Deepavali.
Also known as Karnataka Devagandhari. The earlier minor difference between KD and Abheri is gone now. Thyagaraja's masterpiece Nagumomu and many other beautiful Carnatic compositions come to mind.

Madam Abuja Kamat, Encountered first time.! And at the age of 77, I felt like a thirsty young disciple running to you and learn Ragas from you ! Your voice is mystically Musical and Knowledge of Ragas is Perfect . Like Shreya Ghoshal , You can be a Profound & Professional Singer. Why Not? God Bless You.
It's not about how much study. Even if one sits with music, harmonium, and tabla still he will not be able to make out anything of it unless he sits quietly, understands how music is created, how playing with the air, controlling the air circulating inside body one can understand how intricately music is related to life. Thats why music is said to be a divine art. One can become a great musician even if one might be a novice in musical notes. Sit quietly and contemplate on the different sounds of Nature and focus on them. What artists have more is training. Anyone can realize the essence of music on his own only.
I am no more the same me after I fell for the raag Bhimpalas very recently ... And after watching this video of yours I realized my innate attraction and love towards these particular songs... Lots and lots of love for you. ❤.
Okay so I did not see ' Tu cheez badi hai mast mast coming ' ,😂 Btw just found your channel. You are absolutely marvellous. Your singing as well as the explaination is outstanding. Well done 😍
A lovable Diwali gift, indeed! Very well done, Anujaji. You have selected the best of film songs based on Bhimpalas, and the decision to present AR Rahman's Bhimpalas based songs as a separate medley was a good one. Equally good was the decision to use the Tanpura support for the singing part. It really complements your voice so well. As you have rightly said, AR Rahman seems to have a particular fondness for this Raaga. And who doesn't? It's such a cheerful and spirit-lifting Raaga! I absolutely loved this episode. A separate mention must be made for the beautiful Diwali ambiance you have created for this video. I also observed how well you can sing a western music song. Your voice modulation was perfect. Please continue to produce these videos since these videos present a unique approach to understanding Indian classical music through a very interesting analysis of Raaga based film songs. _Meri aur ek farmaaish hai. Ek episode Raag Kirwani par zarur karein._ There are some very beautiful film songs, both old and new, based on Raag Kirwani. In fact, only a few days ago I had made a medley on film songs based on Raag Kirwani in which I had included some Ghazals too. I would love to watch one of your episodes dedicated to Kirwani. Thank you very much in advance. May the festival of lights bring a lot of brightness in your and your loved ones' lives!
Absolutely sir! What I have noticed from my listening is that nearly 60% of all very popular film songs and ghazal s are based on one single raag Kirwani or a bit of modification thereof. Just every other song even some of the most nimble ones are based on Kirwani, the most prolific singer on this raag being Kishore Kumar who probably even without knowing the same raag composed two absolutely marvelous songs on this raag! Like you I also love this raag extremely although I know nothing of music ...... Not even SA re GA ma. And like you I also have made a list of songs based on this raag which already seems never ending.
@ADPS I don’t know Marathi nor have I ever Lived in Maharashtra , yet I understand everything Alkaji wrote . If you learn Hindi , you can understand many Indian languages
Frankly I dont have knowledge about raagas but after watching so may videos of bhimpalas one thing I derived is i love this one and songs based on dis raag
people like me, who really want to know what and how our culture is made, music being so central, begin to really appreciate your amazing contribution. It's marvellous and, even if we pretend to know more, it is really worth to go around like a person who knows!! Then other people also take more interest in music and our culture. And, your presentation is beyond comment.
Oh goodness.. what a soothing voice you have Anuja!! Though God has blessed you with a lovely voice but you are maintaining it beautifully. Keep it up. ♥️👍🏻
The connection with blues is absolutely FASCINATING! Listening to you scat with your voice was very interesting too, as well as beautiful. Thanks for your great videos. :)

Kya baat hai.. from Zindagi ussi ki hai ..to Blues ..to Shape of you.. Bhimpalas ka Bhim swarooop prabhav. This was a fantastic video Anuja! amazing depth of knowledge you have and more importantly the largesse to share it. Thank you, once again! God bless you.
We enjoyed this episode on Raag Bhimpalasi. The songs you selected to elaborate were very good. Ms Anuja you have a lovely voice and its always a pleasure to listen to your lecdems.
Lot of salutes to you mam...the way and style u explains the ragas is ultimate and excellent. I am new to indian classical music. After watching ur videos i m getting lot of interest in classical music. Thanks mam for uploading videos.
Hi Anuja, I highly appreciate your work,,,you are doing great service to the music lovers and the information that you share is of great importance. I am a music teacher from Lahore, Pakistan, I really love to watch all your videos. keep it up Anuja,,,you have great sweet pleasing voice.
I am really awestruck by the extensive knowledge and so well defined presentation that have proved to be of great help.I have been truly enriched by watching her videos, moreover her renditions are one of the finest and most mindblowing ones.
Your singing is like out of this world. This emotions. So sad and Beautiful. My grandmother is from India but I haven't had much contact with Indian traditions or music so far. Until I heard your singing. I could listen to you all day long. Incredibly beautiful.

So interesting and informative. Just like all your other videos. Really enjoyed it and at the same time learnt a lot. Definitely a must watch for any music lover. Thank you so much. Looking forward to more!
Excellent!! "Naino mein badra chaaye" is what I consider the toughest of all of Madan Mohan ji's immortal compositions - a lot of murkis in every line I believe. You sang so beautifully. Just perfect!!
Miss Anuja Kamat you are brilliant. Your Tedx speech was excellent. You explained music in the most honest way. Thank you so much. Please keep doing the good work of making us simple folks understand and appreciate music.
Anuja I have become a big fan of your videos! You are amazing :) Your systematic in-depth analysis of the Indian classical and its connection to the popular music is what makes it unique. Keep up the great work ! You inspire me :)
