I have only found Rabbi recently and I am so sad that he has passed but so thankful that his wisdom is here on you tube for all of us. I have also purchased his last book. I think he was a true Tzadek.
My own doctor (his patient 1976-1999), the youngest Major in the British Army when it liberated Bergen-Belsen in April 1945, was not in the Army Medical Corps, but rather a career soldier, an officer and a gentleman, who was so struck by what he witnessed at Belsen that he resolved to resign his commission as a professional soldier, a family tradition dating back to Waterloo in 1815, to be become a doctor.
I love the story Rabbi Sacks. Such a smart answer. When someone is oppressed by a ruler, this someone is suppressed and definitely in the hands of the captor. Thanks Rabbi and Miss Pollock for this video. It lifted my spirit. B"H
Rabbi Sacks, this is a truly eye-opening perspective. It explains so much to view antisemitism as a mutating virus. I will share your explanation whenever possible. I look forward to listening to all your lectures. Thank you so much.
My first hearing and viewing of this interview resulted in me strongly suggesting my children and adult grandchildren put aside one half hour and listen to Rabbi Sachs' interview. My second hearing and viewing of this interview resulted in me taking notes so that someday, after this plague, it can be the topic for a group that I facilitate, one member being a Holocaust survivor and another member being born in the DP camp in Bergen Belson. I wonder what my plans will be after my third viewing.
