The world lost a Sage last week. We are lucky to have the parts of himself he left for us in books, articles and tons of video. Shalom!

I am a writer and have drawn great inspiration from this video. Thank you, Rabbi Steinsaltz. I have often wondered why the world needs more words and have undermined my own joy and the fruitfulness of my writing. Your talk about creativity and my being one of the Creator's "little helpers" offers just the perspective and reminder that I need. I am currently reading The Thirteen Petalled Rose and feeling profoundly grateful for your vision, creativity and service to this world. Biz a hindred un tzvontzig... Ani Tuzman

Extraordinary. I have just watched and listened to this video for the first time and I know I will do so again many, many more times. Thank you Rabbi Steinsaltz, for touching my soul with your words. I am also reading "The Thirteen Petalled Rose," and feeling connected in ways that continue to speak of G-d's beautiful blessings. Baruch Hashem ---Joyce Mills

what the Talmud says somewhere that i read. talmudic sage's lips never stop even when his body lie in the coffin. i hoped and wished attend to listen his lecture sometime. maybe as a scholar itself he is as like Rashi in 20-21 century. Even to the eyes of who are not yehudi like me. i do not know but i am in sorrow when i heard of his R.I.P Adin Even Israel Steinsaltz the scholar and hope giver on thoughts and education.

Dear Rabbi Steinsaltz, you were talking about hell. I thought hell didn't exist. I met Christians telling me that if I didn't believe in JC I would go to hell. I can't believe in JC and I don't want to but now I'm a little confused. How can I answer Christians when they are trying to scare me? Could you please explain what do you mean by hell? Thank you.

Hell was a Jewish concept before it became Christian. The difference is that in Judaism, hell is actually a place to correct the soul through suffering, and once you're corrected you leave hell. So the word "Gehinom" is better translated "Purgatory" than "Hell". In Christianity hell is an eternal punishment from where you can never leave.

@haaris ibn Abdul There's literally no conclusive evidence that points to an eternal hell in the bible.
