great video I feed mine barley grass 8 bins and seeds 7 days later and you have barely grass for 10 rabbits. my plot 10x10 area I grow mine own barley last all year and have some to plant next year 1 pound of seeds makes 5 pounds of grass....winter barley...
Your gonna be sooo busy just keeping the grow out pens well food supplied as the 4wk olds get pulled from does --average 8 young per doe ,,Rabbit meat is wonderful and easy to raise . I wash very well all produce before I give out to bunnies to wash off any pesticides ,ect. Some plastic pop bottles will screw on the nipple water tubes if you run short --I just swap a double set of bottles around -frozen to thawed was easiest ,,automated systems just freeze and break -cheaper to feed 2 preg does than one house cat ,but the cat keeps the mice cleared out saving my feed pellets too !! 4 does keep my freezer full all year and on the table 2/3 times a week and in lunch box too.
I know its easter, hoping I can get an answer though. I just slaughered a rabbit, don't really know what I am doing and I got a little urine and a little feces on the meat. I'm not looking to freeze the meat, i just want to rotisserie. Is it safe to eat? I've been soaking it in a cold water bath.
I am going to have to get a commercial set up with a flush system the cages I built per other’s on utube are flimsy and my does have leaned Houdini secrets on busting out. Is 30x36 big enough? Don’t want my does feeling stressed for room
Awesome rabbitry. Only thing that would make it better in my opinion is more heritage breeds like the American Blues or whites, the American Silver Fox, or American Chinchillas. Really anything on the livestock conservation website listed as endangered. I think Californians and new Zealands are way over rated and find the heritage breeds to be much more rewarding. Feel like your saving a piece of history. and from my personal experience the heritage breeds have great temperaments for pets as well. I love my buns they are so much fun.
you're doing the right thing with supplementing the food that I do not grow the black soldier fly to for the chickens they break all the produce and stuff we have left over but for the rabbits it's good to do that what you're doing with the apples and everything that's probably why you're getting a good productive right there if everybody is eating just right there going to start breeding
no I thought I'd pass this along you know this lady I know this black lady I met really smart lady was rabbits she had them all in the nipples system with water give them to her to the animals right off the spicket or she could turn it on and off for have it running to they could get what they needed not only that she had this cattle pellets what's a real big you know you get them for cows she said they don't waste none and you have a lot less mess at the end and you can shovel up the rest and sell it to people the manure but I saw in the background you're feeding them either cabbage or lettuce you're getting from specific place
I have a few questions. How many Bucks do you have for breeding duty? Are you going to sell to a commercial outlet? Process them for the pot? OR sale as many to individuals and stores? I have a small bunch that I might grow into something larger.
Plz bro, tell me what is the average breed of female rabbit in a year? and what is the best season for this? and What is the best breed kind for this? and Can a female breed for whole year?
If you give your doe a break between litters she will kid for longer and probably live longer. You can breed them the day after they give birth for 2-3 years before they are bad mothers or burn out on breeding (infertile) Rabbits do not go into heat and after the does eggs mature they will have babies in all seasons. It's harder to breed a new mother in winter she might not keep the babies warm. Californians, New Zealands, and Rex rabbits are best and will reach 10-14 lbs
this will be my first summer with meat rabbits. but im worried about fleas. how would i go about treating them and safely eat them? i wouldnt eat them with fleas
About once every other month one rabbit may start to get weak with a 30% change of dying. For the numbers that we feed most do great and do not want other food.
I fed a couple of apples to litter of grow outs once and I ended up with a dead rabbit. My rabbits only get pellets, hay, and fresh grass. Anything with a lot of sugar in it like apples and carrots is going to cause bowel trouble.
8-12 years, they are also very active and do really need more room than what this guy gave them. Also if you're going to house on wire floor you need somewhere they can get off.
Originally we planned to produce 200 lbs per month. Since this video we have scaled down to 40 lbs per month and selling young rabbits to people that are just starting up.
Holly Charlotte its a brassica(mustard greens, kale, canola all the same species) they contain an acid that is toxic to rabbits. Do not feed it often or it can build up in their livers and kill them.
Go look up oxalic acid. Its poisonous to humans too. We are just much bigger and don't eat proportionally as much as rabbits. All brassicas produce it. Mustard greens and broccoli are both brassicas. Most brassicas that people eat are very low in this acid. rabbits can not excrete this acid so it builds up in their bodies over time becoming toxic. Depending on the conditions the plants are grown can also have an impact on the amount of acid present. It's an ok sometimes food or treat but not an everyday food. It's toxicity can also very by individual person or animal. I've had several customers who could not handle brassicas due to this acid. A few were rabbit breeders and warned me about it. As I was growing quite a few exotic brassica greens at the time.
Bunny Lover look like healthy well taken care of animals to me. I prefer community rabbit living enclosures but use cages for aggressive or bully bunnies too. It would require very large space with lots of hiding spaces to support a heard of this size. Rabbits can be very territorial. Welcome to the real world where everything isn't butterflies and rainbows. Maybe if bleeding heart liberals didn't protect all the decent land in America we could afford enough space to raise them in better spaces but things aren't free and sometimes you just have to do what you can. Must be nice to sit around in the A/C while someone else grows your food, someone else builds your home, and someone else entertains you. All personal responsibilities this culture puts off on others. Gtfoh you bleeding heart libtard tree hugger.
ok thx I am wanting to start meat rabbits but not have as much if u ever visit Bemidji MN email me I would love to start rabbits thx again I would also like it if u could tell me how much it is to make a cage like that
eei ya how are you going to eat them if they are not dead. they are not pets but meat rabbits, same as beef, pork, chicken etc hope this will not upset you BigAl
So are these cages just for the breeding rabbits right? you would have a large grow out pen for the babies, where you put them after 4 weeks with the mother, and then kill them at 8-12 weeks? I am wondering, trying to start doing this.
this guy has the space to create proper enclosures for these animals. recycled materials cost nothing. I dont believe in animal farming and don't eat meat, I dont expect the same of others but I do expect proper living conditions. these animals don't want to live like this.
shimmyshanka you don't know what you talking about.. Learn how to do it then criticize. These rabbits are for the pot not pets. Rabbits burrow and breed prolifically so if they on a fenced plot of 1/2 acre..approx 2000m2 35 does within one year can reach almost 2000 rabbits causing starvation. If one gets sick then all do. Unfortunately there is no way that is the right way. Find a way that is more humane then come back and show us the light.. Perhaps he could have smaller gauge metal cloth so that it's more comfortable on their feet.
Giuseppe u have no soul or a heart plus wired cages do hurt there feet they can get sore hocks and would you like it if you had to stay in a wired floor cage your whole life then get kill and the I eat YOU And treat you like your nothing!
I didn't see them but there are mats you can put in there for them to lay on at their choosing. Nesting boxes are also a great way for them to get off the wire.
