The blur on the top of the Marshall cab is something Pete drew on it… I’ll leave you to guess what it is, suffice to say we thought it best to blur it. 😂. If you know Pete, you’ll know what it is. 🍆
Interesting concept! It would be interesting to see if the individually favored pedals got along nicely with one another. There are pedals that i love on their own, but which do not play well with others.
my God that tone is freaking insane. just a clean amp with reverb. holy moly! well done Rabea! edit: this was hilarious too. i was laughing the whole time. thanks guys!
Oh yeah, I absolutely love Rabbea’s ambient playing. He is just so effortlessly musical and deeply soulful, I am effected by it regardless of the style he is playing. Truly unique and a pure pleasure to hear.
Very cool to see Rabea's instant affinity with the Blue Sky, familiar territory I guess. It's not just a better thing, it's completely about how it makes you personally feel.
Fair play for your patience. The football references were really starting to get on my nerves by the end of it. My first negative comment on this channel!
Every single time the strymon bluesky came back on it brought a smile to my face... One day I will get my hands on one, but until then I think hearing Rabea play through it is good enough 🔥🔥
The amount of incredible pedals we have now is almost overwhelming I love the graphic in the bottom right corner showing us which we're currently hearing!
Rabea has an amazing ear.. and I completely concur with his tastes.. choice and ear! Great Job! I am now going to buy the Strymon Blue Sky! And probably also the JHS that lasted 4 rounds. Both Great pedals! Great shootout!
That "cut highs + bump up mix" is perfect tool for background guitars. It's most inspiring sound I could choose. One thing I experience alot is that reverbs designed for stereo rarely sound good in mono
A great video. I especially enjoyed Lee’s look of puzzled anxiety as the Behringer briefly gave the Blue Sky a run for it’s money. Wow, the Blue Sky is good though. I’m just off to check what’s in my piggy bank!
May I say, I love that you took time to go into the settings in real time. It is very helpful to hear Bea say make it duller or take off the top end and watch which settings correspond to his requests.
Always enjoy these videos thanks. I think it’s better when you don’t give hints how good or bad a product is though. Rather than telling Rabea he is playing something high end it’s best to keep it a mystery so that it doesn’t influence him.
my take away is that the strymon is top notch especially with how the signal path runs through it... but the JHS reverb was my fav overall because of how good it sounded with minimal functions to get there.
Ease of use is such an underrated factor in pedals. A pedal should have three controls max and not multi function - it just becomes distracting. Really like what JHS is doing with the 3 series for this reason
Couldn’t have had a better player to demo these! Rabea and ambient tones is just great! I figured a reverb vid would be boring but was sucked in by the sounds and playing
Nicest noodling I've heard in a while! Yeah I've been down the reverb rabbit hole; I'm now saving for a twin reverb. Thanks for the entertaining video.
I had to make my own sub shootout according to which one I can afford. Best side by side test I've seen. Really helps Rabea knows how to use the effect and has a pros ear. I don't have many effects pedals so I'm selective. The fact the Behringer was even in the running with the Strymon says a lot. My current budget set-up is a Monoprice 5w tube amp w/Celestion speaker and the Behringer DR600 pedal. $200 total and it sounds excellent. Good to know you really are getting a premium sound for your money with the Strymon, you aren't just a snob.
Well you know, the football references are fun and all to some degree, but here it's just too much. And I like both Andertons and football :) Great video concept, as someone said - you should do this with Bea with all the "standard" effect pedals, it's really interesting! :)
Wow, a really nice video. I have the BlueSky, but didnt used it for a few months (i wanted a smaller reverb pedal). Since yesterday i use it again and it ist his feeling like a home coming. Also the Behringer was suprising good.
Brilliantly entertaining video. Some were pretty neck n neck. I think the Blackhole didn’t get it’s fair time to mess with and adjust but wasn’t surprised that the bluesky won. I was surprised at how many rounds the Behringer and JHS made it considering they’re more basic or affordable to the big dogs.
Interesting video and the JHS Hall Reverb comes over very well in the final mix, but I've never seen a blind test where Lee gave away more clearly in advance what the expensive pedals were: that was a real shame.
He talked about them being complicated and favorites in the tournament but that was not directly cost. TC pedals are inexpensive and complicated and he said they were a favorite.
I bought a Boss RV-6 and almost immediately boxed it up and shipped it back. The sound was way to ambient/ spacey for me. And by spacey i mean extraterrestrial
THIS is the exact video I’ve been needing to see. And thank you, Rabea, I agree with your take on that strange presence in some of those reverbs. They got to go.
As players we “hear” with our eyes too. We see brand name and casing and already come in with judgments. But Strymon reverb not only has name but just undeniable quality. They are sought after and on boards for a reason
I agree with all choices here. The jhs sounded best until the strymon, but nothing else sounded as nice as the strymon. A well-deserved win (at least based on the settings achieved in this vid).
I compared a load of premium reverbs and the BigSky came out on top for me. There's just something so nice about the way it is able to be very present without muddying up your tone. Maybe analog dry through has a thing to do with it as well, but mainly it's just the quality of the reverb sound that does it for me. Surprisingly, the reverb in the Avalanche Run v2 came second for me. Such a magical sound. I'm sure that if it had more controls it could be sold as a very succesful stand alone reverb pedal.
I have the blueSky because I thought the Big Sky was just too much. I have not been disappointed, and it has not left my board in the past 4 years. I sometimes double with the Flint's reverb side to get some extra wash.
The Captain getting confused over which knob corresponds to what Bea is asking for and finally admitting he might need to read the manuals.😂 Love to see one of these for those Octave down (and sometimes up) non fuzz pedals.
The "it makes the guitar tone nicer as well" with regard to the strymon reverb is something I really don't think people think about enough. I've noticed different reverbs change my tone a bit. The one that does so the most out of the pedals I own is the Walrus Audio SLO. I notice it brightens my base tone a bit. I actually think it is kind of cool as it gives each reverb that much more unique characteristic. The Styrmon definitely did just fill out the tone and have the most natural sounding reverb. I own the reverberator which I think is amazing as well but I do want to get a Styrmon reverb eventually to add to the kit.
I've just started watching, and omg.. im literally in tears with how beautifull, cool, amazing and awesome this strat that Rabea holds look #unhappilyinlove
