Late 79 for me. I remember cleaning the drill square of snow for drill practice. River runs, assembling SMG in the dark, gas drills, what fond memories. Brilliant time. 😂🇬🇧🤪
Intake 89/02 I think about my time with the 3RTR almost everyday, it has made a big positive impression on my life. I regret pulling out when I did. I will never forget the time I nearly drowned in a Kayak when it rolled me under during training and had to be dragged out of the river while still stuck in side of it. Also regret getting involved in a Night Club fight while away with the unit half way through the basic training . Thanks to me we all had to leave. It was down to civies spraying water pistols in my face while at the Bar. I lashed out in anger. Big mistake. Loads of good memories too. The Troop called me Rocky and also Buck due to my Surname Rogers at the time.
I was in intake 89/02 ended up in 2RTR. My pass off vid i had is exactly the same as this. Infact the river run bit is my old intake. Lost my video, lost to the sands of time but was good seeing my old training staff, Sgt Robinson, Corporals Jemmot, Brownbill and Sgt Wong my old SMG instructor. Thnx for the upload, brought back memories..
Holy fucking shit, I did my basic training there in 1989, I still remember Sgt McStravic from the Royal Irish screaming at me on that drill square as if it was yesterday ! Good times !!!
Staff Sgt Murdoch, cpls Totf, Sherville and Kelewski (the sadist ) Cpt Kay, Lt Cl Sir Hayman Joyce amd some floppy 1st Lt who I cant even remember now he was so dim.....I will remember Catterick with a combination of pride and despair....Feb in N. Yorkshire is hard lol. Loved the Chieftians...the racket of them coming out of their hangers...good days
I was there in 1973. 4 RTR was the training regiment. I joined the 17th/21st Lancers. I'd do it all over again, except I wouldn't serve the British government now.
Intake 80/23 with Royal Hussars as host training regiment. I am Canadian and went over as a personal challenge at the time. I still have a good friend from the intake who emigrated back to Canada after his stint in NI. Great memories and great training.
84/02 ooooooh how many times did I run round that parade square with smg held above the head 😂 An a punch in the gut in Cs house All good stuff Great to see it again I was AAC Catterick was a holiday compared to ssm Reid at middle wallop. D day commerative parade training Miss breakfast on square Miss lunch on square Miss evening meal on square We had 5 rooms of guys quitting 1 guys staying. We were fkn starving After evening meal we missed We paraded on the hour in number 2s Evrey hour on the hour till 11 pm Never good enough. Me I said fk it an went for a beer in between parades. Well I knew we'd be dancing all night😂 Met him again in NI Preferred the I R A 😂 Rip WO 1 Reid he was old school Died in a heli accident An I met real hero's from glider pilot regement D day Arnhem Brilliant guys An they bought us beer an thanked us No we thanked them Pain is pleasure pleasure is pain 84/02 😂
I remember Taff Reid at MW Luckily l rebadged to QRIH and enjoyed every moment CD the Grenadier was a good bloke at MW Dead end career though for most in AAC. Tanks are much more fun !
